    • 31' This is almost training ground stuff at the moment. Babel nods a delicate header across to Benayoun which is cleared for a corner. Gerrard swings it in and it's only partially cleared and TORRES... He tries an overhead kick in the six-yard box but misses it.
    • 25' Babel dazzles his full back with some stepovers and squares it to VORONIN... His shot is blocked on the edge of the area. His hair sparkles as it catches the Anfield floodlights.
    • 23' It's all Liverpool now. After Porto's bright start they are pinned back in their own half. Ripples of applause become cheers as Liverpool string together about 30 passes. It ends as Bavel's low ball is too strong for Torres.
    • 19' GOAL!! It's El Nino, Fernando Torres! He was completely unmarked as the corner came in and nodded past Helton with ease.
    • 18' Liverpool are having all kinds of fun down the right hand side. This time Benayoun links up well with Finnan, who has to be tackled in the area for a corner.
    • 14' Quaresma tries a shot from distance... it's wayward and he gets clattered by Finnan on his way down! That could be the best way to deal with the Porto playmaker, not that we endorse violent conduct here of course.
    • 11' Torres come in from the right. He flicks in a cross with the outside of his boot for VORONIN... The man who is singularly pioneering the ponytail/undercut look stretches to head it, but can't get his effort on target.
    • 10' A good opening to this match. Both teams are trying to play some football. There's a real cup-tie feel to this one. Torres sprints towards goal with the ball at his feet. He SHOOTS... Straight into Helton's arms.
    • 5' Benayoun breaks into the Porto box from the right and SHOOTS... It deflects off a defender and there are big shouts for handball. The Liverpool players didn't appeal but replays show Bruno Alves did handle it!
    • 4' Anfield is in fine voice tonight, in a match that Liverpool really need to win to get their season fully back on track.
