    • Roma
    • 90+5' The final whistle ends it - Arsenal will take a single-goal lead to Rome in the second leg in two weeks' time.
    • 90+4' Motta fouled on Roma's right flank and Pizarro has a chance to bend in a free-kick... it is too far though and Arsenal eventually survive after another pair of crosses.
    • 90+3' Vela with a mazy run into the area at the death... ultimately the shot from distance by one of his team-mates is held by Doni.
    • 90+2' Montenegrin Vucinic penalised for offside when he was half a yard on. He was in the box... harsh on Roma.
    • 90+1' With Motta looking to attack, the ball runs out of play for a home goal-kick.
    • 90' Totti with a ball into the box with the outside of his foot... cleared by Arsenal... a late surge by the Italians...
    • 88' Arsenal edging closer to the win - but is it enough to go through?
    • 86' A deflected Nasri shot flies just wide!! He and Ramsey are providing a more telling threat in the last couple of minutes.
    • 84' Denilson retreats to win the ball and Arsenal seek to attack again. They are now quite comfortable at the back; Roma seem happy to take this result now.
    • 82' Roma change: Former Emirates man Baptista replaced by Mirko Vucinic.
    • 82' Arsenal change: Teenager Aaron Ramsey on for Eboue.
    • 80' The match is heading to a nervy conclusion. Arsenal's midfield still looking to break down the away side.
    • 78' Groans from the Arsenal faithful as Song cuts away to the left when leading a counter-attack, perhaps showing a lack of confidence... Clichy looks to come inside but is blocked out.
    • 76' De Rossi with an intelligent bent ball over the home defence for Riise to run on to - and he fails to control it. Goal-kick, what a waste for the Serie A men...
    • 75' Totti sends in a low cross that causes panic in the home defence. There could be something yet for Roma...
    • 71' Roma change: Souleymane Diamoutene, on loan from Lecce, on for Loria.
    • 70' Wenger managed Monaco past Roma in the 1991-92 European Cup Winners' Cup... I'm not claiming that means they'll go through though!!
    • 68' Former Liverpool star John Arne Riise, who has not had much chance to get forward, does here and smashes a swerving shot marginally wide of the back stick!!
    • 67' Arsenal chance: Carlos Vela on for Bendtner.
    • 66' WHAT A CHANCE FOR EBOUE!! Loria missed the ball, a shocking piece of defending, and he had plenty of time to bear down on goal... Doni stood tall and the Ivorian walked it round the retreating defender - unnecessarily - before firing wide of the near post.
    • 65' Nasri booked for dissent.
    • 63' De Rossi goes down under a light challenge from Song, while Denilson requires treatment after Totti caught him in the chest.
    • 68' Former Liverpool star John Arne Riise, who has not had much chance to get forward, does here and smashes a swerving shot marginally wide of the back stick!!
    • 60' Nasri to the by-line, where his dinked cross finds the head of Eboue. It is just too high though.
    • 59' Denilson, who has been the least eye-catching of the home midfielders, with a lovely turn and run into space after Bendtner put him under pressure with a ball to feet.
    • 57' Roma change: David Pizarro for Brighi.
    • 55' Diaby has been excellent in the last few minutes, here turning with the ball and firing at goal - Doni flies across to palm away. Arsenal look certain of a second, but they are known for not converting chances...
    • 54' Bendtner again on the left, streaking into the box... he plays a great ball across goal WHERE NASRI ALMOST CONVERTS!!
    • 53' BENDTNER SKIES A CLEAR CHANCE!! Eboue did brilliantly to work his way into the box and play square to Van Persie, who worked it wide to his left where the Dane waited... he had all the time in the world while Doni set himself - and shot a yard over the bar!!
    • 50' Clichy with a clever ball into the feet of Van Persie inside the box; he tries to turn and shoot but he had lost his bearings and it was several yards wide of the near post. Clichy asks him what he's playing at.
    • 49' Nerves from Arsenal... Totti pokes the ball through a defender's legs and Perrotta is close to creating a chance in the box.
    • 47' Baptista and Brighi combine but are thwarted. That was a bizarre way to start the second 45 minutes.
    • 46' Kolo Toure is booked for trying to run on to the field without permission while Gallas is the other man rapidly pulling on a shirt...
    • 46' The second half begins and there are only nine Arsenal players on the field!!
    • 45+1' Half-time at The Emirates: so far, so good for Arsenal. They are the better side - but Roma are providing a threat away from home. The Gunners could do with another goal at least...
    • 45' Loria messes about outside his own box but, with Van Persie pressing, he and Mexes get the ball away. It is not the first time that the Roma defence has been hesitant, although it has repelled a lot of balls in.
    • 43' Simone Perrotta is free on the far side of the area as Taddei crosses... he heads back across goal where the ball is cleared.
    • 42' Hard-man midfielder Daniele De Rossi hacks a flying Nasri on the Arsenal left and is rightly shown a yellow card.
    • 41' Motta hits the deck near the edge of the box and, with the Arsenal fans howling that he dived, the referee waves way claims for a free-kick. With Totti about you don't want to be conceding them there...
    • 40' Arsenal are the team in the ascendency now after that goal - it has given them confidence.
    • 38' BENDTNER BLOCKED AT THE NEAR POST!! Van Persie got to the right-hand by-line and squared to where the Dane slid in - but great defending by Motta stopped the chance with Doni beaten.
    • 37' ROBIN VAN PERSIE STICKS IT AWAY IN THE BOTTOM CORNER!! Doni went the wrong way and it was a firm kick.
    • 35' PENALTY FOR ARSENAL!! Van Persie found space in the box and was brought down by a desperate Mexes. He went down easily - but there was contact and it was a pen.
    • 33' Rodrigo Taddei offside as Roma threaten again.
    • 30' Nasri dancing forward once more, into the area this time, before his ball across is blocked. This is a finely-poised match.
    • 29' There is space for Roma to counter: on this occasion Brighi cuts inside and gets a favourable bounce out to Baptista, who pulls well wide with a low cross-shot under little pressure.
    • 27' Nasri pounds forward again, past one, two men before the attack fizzles out.
    • 25' Matteo Brighi booked for grabbing the ball as Eboue looked to take a quick throw-in.
    • 23' Visiting keeper Doni claims under pressure. But soon after he messes about with the ball with the home forwards advancing... his coach Luciano Spalletti will not thank him for that.
    • 22' Van Persie seeking to make something 25 yards out; he again plays in Sagna... nothing comes of it again. There is danger from this right side for Roma.
    • 19' Arsenal star Nasri from some way out, always flying a few yards wide of the upright. He is the most eye-catching player so far...
    • 18' Totti bends in a free-kick which Simone Loria volleys over while lurching on to it - but he had time at the near post!! Where was the marking?
    • 17' SO CLOSE FROM MOTTA!! The Roma full-back brought the ball forward without a challenge and unleashed hell from distance - it was an inch wide of the far post, no more.
    • 16' Some excellent forward play again by the Gunners, looking for the small ball through.
    • 14' Philippe Mexes booked for a cynical challenge on Eboue to nip a counter-attack in the bud.
    • 13' The Roma players have barely been on the ball. Now they have it for a few moments... Totti's ball in is headed away and Motta tries to cross again, without success.
    • 10' A clever reverse pass from Van Persie is a touch long for Sagna, but he gets there and crosses while sliding... again cleared by the away side.
    • 9' Gael Clichy's pinpoint cross gives Nasri a chance with his head eight yards out... he glances it wide!!
    • 6' BENDTNER WITH A CHANCE... IT RUNS AWAY FROM HIM!! Nasri had open field to attack the by-line and pulled back to the striker; he couldn't control it properly and Roma get away with it.
    • 5' More pressure as Nasri spins away before feeding Bacary Sagna. His ball in is defended...
    • 3' Samir Nasri attacks down the left as Arsene Wenger's side take the game to Roma in the opening moments. His cross is cancelled out.
    • 1' The match is underway with the Arsenal fans in good voice. Perhaps this is their main chance of winning a trophy... it must surely be their focus now.
    • - The teams are out and paying homage to Zadok the Priest, in appreciation of the fine talents of George Frideric Handel. Maybe.
    • - For Roma, star man Francesco Totti failed to complete training on Monday but is fine. Juan, Mirko Vucinic and Cicinho miss out; Marco Motta slot into the right-back position. Former Arsenal man Julio Baptista starts against his former club.
    • - The Gunners are without cup-tied of Andrei Arshavin of course. Emmanuel Eboue replaces him while there is also a place for Abou Diaby. Emmanuel Adebayor and Eduardo are out injured so again Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner lead the line.
