    • FT And there is the full-time whistle. Liverpool have to settle for a draw but probably a fair result given some of the crazy decision making. The injury to Robbie Keane is a concern though.

    • 88' GREAT CHANCE FOR BABEL - He gets in ahead of Perea and heads just wide after a great cross from Kuyt.
    • 86' Renia has to be alert to make a save from Miguel after he smashed a half-volley into the ground that then bounced up.
    • 83' ATLETICO HAVE DRAWN LEVEL. Carragher mis-reads a long ball and Forlan gets in behind him - he then checks the ball back for Simao and the former Liverpool target sweeps a fine left-foot strike across Reina and into the bottom corner of the net.
    • 80' Maniche with a shot from distance - Reina had it watched all the way though and gathers with ease.
    • 75' Both teams make a change - Liverpool bring on Lucas for Alonso while Atletico replace Sinama-Pongolle with Miguel.

    • 32' Atletico finally string a few passes together in the final third but then Lopez strays offside.
    • 31' Gerrard finds Keane who then almost finds Benayoun but Lopez nicks in to make an important tackle.
    • 30' It looks for a moment like Arbeloa's header back to Reina is going to be too short but the Liverpool keeper gets there just before Forlan.
    • 27' Riera tries to do a little too much down the left when Keane looked to be free - he still wins a corner though. However, Franco gathers that corner under pressure.
    • 23' Great low ball from Gerrard and Keane gets in ahead of Perea - he tries to do a little flick though when he could have just side-footed it in and instead the ball goes through his lega.
    • 21' Now Alonso tries from distance but it flies over. But Liverpool well on top it has to be said. Atletico have looked very poor.

    • 18' Atletico have lost their last three games in La Liga and they really do look low in confidence. Those three games were against Sevilla, Barcelona and Real to be fair but they love pressing the panic button in Spain.

    • 14' KEANE GIVES LIVERPOOL THE LEAD. But there is more than a hint of offside about the goal. Gerrard slips in a low pass behind the defence, Keane is just offside but the flag stays down, however a cool low finish from the Irish striker when faced with Leo Franco gives the Reds the lead.
    • 13' Simao whips in a free kick from the right and the Liverpool players sort of get in each others way. That gives Camacho a chance with a header but it he makes a mess of it and it goes over.
    • 11' Very dull stuff here which will suit Liverpool just fine. The most lively looking player for the home side is actually Sinama-Pongolle who was hardly world class during his spell at Anfield.
    • 8' Lots of noise from the home fans but very little for them to cheer. Liverpool looking the sharper team here.
    • 6' Bright start this by Liverpool - Dossena with a great run down the left and then he puts in a good low cross that Atleti's defenders have to work together to clear.
    • 3' Driving run forward from Gerrard he puts in a sort of cross-shot that is deflected by Joshua, who is making his debut tonight, the Spanish then make a bit of a mess trying to clear the danger but they finally do.

    • - The old shaking of the hands going on at the moment - Liverpool wearing green tonight.
    • - Lots of Torres flags, scarves and shirts in the home section but the former darling of the Atletico fans is of course injured.
    • - The teams here in Madrid are in and there are some surprises. Robbie Keane will start as a lone striker for Liverpool with Dirk Kuyt dropping to the bench. Atletico star Sergio Aguero has been rested and is only on the bench. Pablo has not been risked so there is a start for 19 year-old Alvaro Dominguez at the back.
    • - Both sides have started well, taking a maximum six points from their opening matches. Victory here would go a long way to securing qualification for the knock-out phase.
    • - Former Liverpool players Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Luis Garcia should feature for Atletico, while former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan - a folk hero at Old Trafford for scoring twice in a win over Liverpool in 2004 - is expected to start. Czech defender Tomas Ujfalusi is out, while Spain centre-half Pablo Ibanez returns after a spell on the sidelines. Attacking midfielder Maxi Rodriguez is a doubt.
    • - Liverpool are without superstar striker Fernando Torres, who misses out on a return to the club where he made his name. Ryan Babel, Philip Degen and Martin Skrtel are also missing. Yossi Benayoun, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane are expected to feature despite slight knocks.
