    Time:90'
    • Barcelona
    • Lyon
    • 90+6' And the game is over, 5-2 on the night and 6-3 on aggregate. Lyon gave their all after they were simply overwhelmed in the opening 44 minutes. Barca through to the quarter-finals.
    • 90+5' KEITA WITH A FIFTH GOAL AFTER ROUNDING LLORIS TO FINISH OFF LYON!!
    • 90+3' Barca's last change: Alexander Hleb on for Iniesta.
    • 90+1' Juninho is sent off, a sad end to a great encounter. He was obviously furious with Brazilian countryman Alves and leant over him to tell him so. There was no physical contact.
    • 90' Grosso catches Alves in the face and he is hurt on the floor.
    • 89' Iniesta with a brilliant run between two opponents to burst into the box and over he goes in the box... there was not a great deal of contact by Makoun and the ref turns the appeal down.
    • 89' The away defence dare not tackle Messi for fear of fouling him, and he wins another corner.
    • 88' Messi sees the ball out of play near the away corner flag. Lyon are going to fall short tonight.
    • 87' Barca change: Bojan Krkic on for Eto'o, who also leaves to a standing ovation.
    • 86' Makoun annoyed again after shouldering Messi off the ball only to be pulled up on it - there was enough of a push fpr him to be penalised.
    • 85' Lyon change: Kader Keita on for Ederson.
    • 82' Toulalan drifts across the edge of the penalty area begfore feeding Benzema... THIS HAS TO GO IN IF LYON ARE TO GO THROUGH... he blasts it over!! It was a decent chance. Lyon still need two goals.
    • 80' Toulalan was booked some minutes ago for kicking the ball away.
    • 79' Messi on the left now, skipping past a challenge before shooting when there were men in the middle. Lloris claims.
    • 78' Juninho just short as he chases a ball which broke in the home box; so he pushes Pique over the diving Valdes, who has fallen on it. He says sorry though.
    • 77' Messi wins a corner as he tries to make space in the box. Guardiola dares not take him off in case Lyon grab another goal and it gets hairy...
    • 75' Barca change: Seydou Keita on for Henry, who leaves to a standing ovation after his two goals.
    • 73' Things just aren't coming off for either side; Barca seem able to intercept most of the visiting side's promising attacks.
    • 71' Lloris comes out to punch away under pressure. The nerves inside this grand old stadium are apparent as Lyon come forward...
    • 70' A rubbish free-kick from Barca, but they win a corner nonetheless.
    • 69' Makoun goes into the book as Iniesta goes over once again, although this time he stepped on his foot as he flew forward.
    • 68' Messi plays through for Henry, but he didn't see it coming and Lloris gathers.
    • 66' Barca breaking up this second leg with some gamesmanship. Lyon are becoming frustrated by it.
    • 63' Grosso with a late tackle on Alves and picks up a deserved yellow card. Both he and Cris will miss the next European game because of their cautions.
    • 62' Makoun in quickly on Henry, who goes to ground somewhat easily and stays down... the Lyon man cannot believe he got a free-kick for that. Sure enough Henry pops up when the motorised stretcher appears and is fine to continue.
    • 61' Lyon change: Kim Kallstrom on for Delgado.
    • 59' Gerard Piquet brings the ball out of defence as Lyon swarm forward again, saving the home side... he sidesteps one challenge and another before playing through Henry... HE COMES IN FROM THE LEFT, EYEING THE HAT-TRICK... SAVED BY LLORIS WITH HIS LEGS!! Cris clears as the ball drops close to the goal.
    • 58' Messi sprints down the touchline with the ball away from Makoun... he cuts back and finds Alves inside, who dwells on it too long with Eto'o lurking.
    • 58' All sorts of handbags after energiser bunny/gremlin Alves got involved... Barca are rattled.
    • 56' Makoun furious after he is penalised for a late tackle on Iniesta - but he took his legs away!! No card though.
    • 54' Lyon defending a lot further up the pitch in this half, forcing Barca to play the ball forward more quickly and hence lose it more often. The few teams who have had success against Pep Guardiola's outfit this season have done just that.
    • 52' Juninho has won a lot of trophies win Lyon, but never the big one... check out what he's won here.
    • 49' Delgado harshly booked for fouling Iniesta, who went to ground easily.
    • 48' JUNINHO STRIKES FOR LYON TO THROW THE TIE WIDE OPEN!! Cesar Delgado with a low cross from the right which Marquez miskicks - and the Brazilian Lyon captain arrives behind a Benzema dummy to finish low into the corner!!
    • 46' Lyon change: Mathieu Bodmer on for Clerc.
    • 46' The second half begins with the Blaugrana kicking from right to left.
    • 45+1' A scintillating half of football comes to a close with Barcelona firmly in command, 5-2 up on aggregate.
    • 45' Henry annoyed as the Howard Webb lookalike ref books him. He deserves it as he tried to prevent Clerc from taking a quick throw-in.
    • 44' LYON GET ONE BACK!! Jean Makoun leaps to nod home an excellent goal from near the penalty spot following a Juninho corner. What a game this has been in the opening 45 minutes.
    • 42' ETO'O SMASHES INTO THE TOP CORNER FOR 4-0!! Henry plays the ball across the box where the striker controls on the turn and half-volleys home with the outside of his right foot!!
    • 39' MESSI.... MESSI.... MESSI... WHAT A GOAL FROM LEO MESSI!! He controlls a high diagonal ball on the chest and sets off inside from the right touchline, evading two challenges before playing a one-two with Eto'o and passing the ball into the far bottom corner. Absolute genius, 3-0.
    • 36' Alves tries a half-volley from 18 yards out which Lloris is down to save comfortably.
    • 34' Juninho fouls Iniesta out of frustration and is shown a yellow card by referee Tom Henning.
    • 33' Claude Puel, a former team-mate of Henry, watching on from the sidelines as his Lyon team struggle to get out of their own half.
    • 31' Xavi whips in a dangerous corner and Henry almost controls but Lyon break... Benzema isolated again and is dispossessed.
    • 29' To see Henry's club and international honours, click here.
    • 27' HENRY SCORES A SECOND GOAL FOR THE HOME SIDE!! 2-0 AFTER TWO GOALS IN TWO MINUTES!! The former Arsenal hero was free on the left and duly received the ball from Xavi - there was a hint of offside - and finished inside the near post to send the Camp Nou into continued raptures.
    • 25' GOAL FOR BARCELONA!! THIERRY HENRY!! Rafael Marquez curls a ball to the French forward who is left alone in the middle of the backline, and he controls and turns to run through on goal - and finish past Lloris with Boumsong unable to get back.
    • 23' Have a look at our player profile of Karim Benzema.
    • 21' Benzema strong to take control of a looping ball forward as Dani Alves looks to block him off; however his volley is well over the bar. Barca could have done with injured captain Carles Puyol there.
    • 19' Benzema springs the home offside trap and squares for Ederson to almost convert!! Just bundled wide of the near post.
    • 18' Eto'o chests down and Boumsong is struggling to live with him... there is contact and the Cameroon man goes over... no penalty given. It was an interesting one; probably the correct decision.
    • 16' It is relentless from Barcelona so far, controlling the possession and pulling Lyon apart. Fabio Grosso clears a low Eto'o ball in...
    • 14' Iniesta with a brilliant drag through - think Paul Ince against Holland in Euro 96 - and pass for Eto'o to run through... he shoots from the right side of the box, wide of the near post!!
    • 13' Xavi's kick is deflected... Hugo Lloris is wrongfooted... and it drops just wide of the post!!
    • 12' Iniesta flying towards the Lyon box, where Cris chops him down!! Yellow card for the centre-half and a free-kick in a central position 20 yards out...
    • 9' Messi looks to feed through Thierry Henry and Francois Clerc performs a vital interception.
    • 9' Lionel Messi player profile.
    • 8' Messi cuts inside and plays the ball to Samuel Eto'o who returns it and the little Argentine almost skips through on goal... Jean-Alain Boumsong then defends solidly as Messi tries to flick past him on the by-line.
    • 5' Lyon's star striker Karim Benzema flagged offside on the left, but he looked level...
    • 4' Lionel Messi leads a one-touch move which almost sets Andres Iniesta free. The Spain star returned at the weekend and helped Barca win their first game in five with some sublime touches.
    • 2' Some early ball for the Catalan giants, every touch cheered. Lyon holding their shape.
    • 1' Off we go, Barca kicking from left to right in the first half in their traditional blue and maroon colours. Lyon are in all fluorescent yellow.
    • - The teams are out in the Camp Nou and the fans are in full voice. Lyon have a big task ahead of them tonight after the scoring draw in the first leg in Stade Gerland...
    • - Barcelona: Valdes, Dani Alves, Marquez, Pique, Sylvinho, Xavi, Toure Yaya, Iniesta, Messi, Eto'o, Henry. Subs: Pinto, Caceres, Keita, Hleb, Busquets, Victor Sanchez, Bojan. Lyon: Lloris, Clerc, Cris, Boumsong, Grosso, Delgado, Juninho, Toulalan, Makoun, Ederson, Benzema. Subs: Vercoutre, Bodmer, Kallstrom, Pjanic, Keita, Mounier, Tafer. Referee: Tom Ovrebo (Norway).

looking at that last eight, it seems to me that the only team that can stop this English dominance in Europe is Barcelona. you could put a bet on Bayern having a say in the fight but i'm still not convinced if they can cope with the English teams, at least not until i see them playing one of the big boys. and yes, that was a dazzling result against Sporting, but let's face it, Sporting aren't exactly one of Europe's elite...
as a neutral, i'd love to see no more than two English teams reaching the last four because it just gets boring when you watch Chelsea vs Liverpool slugging out a 0-0 draw looking to @#$% a last minute goal
hopefully next year we'll see the top Italian and Spanish teams actually mounting a proper challenge to the 'big four' and doing their countries proud
a Barcelona vs Man United or Chelsea final would be a joy to watch
