    • Maccabi Haifa
    • 90+3' There's the full-time whistle - Bayern's hopes of making teh last 16 of the Champions League remain intact! A win in Turin against Juventus in a fortnight's time will see them qualify at the Italians' expense.
    • 90+1' Gomez lays the ball off for Van Bommel who is only millimetres away from making it 2-0 with a low driven shot from 20 yards!!
    • 86' Meshumar took a bit of a blow after a brave challenge to block Muller's shot there. He's receiving treatment.
    • 84' Golasa turns on the edge of the Bayern area before spooning a shot almost into the upper tier...which is quite some way up in this impressive stadium.
    • 80' Van Bommel is the next to whistle a shot past the same post as Bayern enjoy a fine spell of possession.
    • 79' Müller lets fly with a vicious right foot shot that whistles past the far post. Good effort from the youngster.
    • 77' Bayern with a free-kick in a central position 30 yards from goal. Schweinsteiger strikes it...but there's not enough power behind that to trouble Davidovitch.
    • 74' Eyal Golasa is on for Ali Osman for Maccabi. One attacking midfielder for another.
    • 73' Van Buyten wins the ball well with a towering header in the Maccabi area, Gomez robs Keinen of the ball, but the referee gives a free-kick! He was totally conned by Keinen's playacting!
    • 71' Well, if the scores remain like this then Bayern will have their destiny in their own hands going into the final game, though they will need to beat Juventus in Turin to go through to the last 16 of this competition.
    • 70' Andreas Ottl is on for Daniel Pranjic for Bayern, while Maccabi replace John Culma with Lior Refaelov.
    • 66' Katan rifles in the shot...just over the bar. Not a bad effort.
    • 65' Osman goes down theatrically under Lahm's challenge, and wins the free-kick. It was a foul, but it didn't hurt that much. Decent position this.
    • 64' Good news all round for Bayern, as Bordeaux are 1-0 up against Juve in the other group A fixture.
    • 62' GOAL!!! BAYERN HAVE THE LEAD!!! They haven't been great, but they have been the better of the two sides, and now they have their reward. Van Bommel with another fine ball through the middle for Gomez, his shot was saved by Davidovitch, but Olic was first to react, tucking the rebuond in comfortably.
    • 59' Lahm breaks forward to the edge of the area and lets fly...but it's a disappointing effort. Blocked by the first defender, and off-target anyway.
    • 54' Pranjic works himself a chance on the volley...blocked! It comes out to Schweinsteiger...blocked again!! A little more urgency in Bayern's play in this second half.
    • 52' Free-kick to Bayern wide on the left flank. Schweinsteiger whips it in with a lot of pace...and it skims the bar before going over! To be fair, Davidovitch looked to have it covered.
    • 50' Katan finds himself in space in the Bayern area...the ball drops to him and he takes it high on the volley...JUST over the bar! He has been Maccabi's biggest threat tonight.
    • 46' Bayern get the second half underway.
    • 20:44 They're back out for the second half, with Ivica Olic and Mario Gomez exchanging a few encouraging words to eachother.
    • 45+2' And there's the half-time whistle, accompanied predictably by a loud chorus of boos from the home fans. Yawn-inducing stuff.
    • 45+1' The home side have a free-kick in a decent position inside the Maccabi half now. Badstuber swings it in...and Olic glances the ball just over the bar!! Davidovitch was beaten had that been a few inches lower.
    • 45' Well, Pranjic has shown a few moments of class, Gomez looks like he could be a threat in attack if given the service, and Van Buyten and Demichelis are comfortable at the back, but in terms of cohesion as an attacking force, Bayern are totally uninspiring and unincisive. No wonder the crowd sound like they've gone to sleep.
    • 41' Pranjic finds Gomez on the edge of the area...he takes a touch before shooting, and that touch gave Shai Maimon just enough time to get a diving block in. Corner, which is swung in to Olic at the back post, though he can do no more than divert the ball out for a throw.
    • 37' Lovely feet from Pranjic...he beats a second man...wide to Lahm...only for his cross to fall straight into the arms of Davidovitch.
    • 36' Van Bommel tries to dance his way through the entire Maccabi defence, and is predictably dispossessed. To be fair, he didn't have many other options open to him.
    • 35' Fine corner from Schweinsteiger into the near post where Gomez is lurking...but Davidovitch rises high and punches clear.
    • 33' Fantastic ball from Schweinsteiger into the path of Olic...he only has Gomez with him...he cuts inside onto his left foot and shoots...and it comes off Shai Maimon and bounces straight into the face of Davidovitch!
    • 30' Bayern break once again and Pranjic is coming charging through the middle...but Schweinsteiger's ball to the Croatian is overhit and he can't keep it in play.
    • 28' Good persistence from Gomez sees the ball land at the feet of Holger Badstuber on the edge of the area...he hits it first time...but high, wide and none too pretty.
    • 24' Mario Gomez picks the ball up with his back to goal, turns Dekel Keinen well, but fires his low shot just wide of the target.
    • 22' Meshumar fires in a decent effort for Maccabi, and Hans-Jörg Butt looked pretty shaky in parrying the ball away there. It took a difficult bounce, but he should have held that. Nervous whisperings increase around the stadium.
    • 21' Good pressing from the Maccabi midfield. They're allowing Bayern no time on the ball, and are forcing normally stead-Eddies like Phillip Lahm into mistakes.
    • 19' Schweinsteiger plays a lovely exchange with Müller, but the return pass is a little hard, and Schweini can do no more than miskick the ball into the arms of Maccabi 'keeper Nir Davidovitch.
    • 17' Ha! Just as I say that, a lovely move from Bayern results in Mario Gomez prodding Mark van Bommel's fine cross inches wide of the left hand post! First big chance of the game so far.
    • 16' Katan skips clear of a challenge and feeds Osman...his cross is cut out by Badstuber...it comes out to Katan...whose follow-up is deflected out for a corner. Katan has been the brightest spark on the pitch so far. Bayern's midfield have been very anonymous.
    • 13' Terrible delivery. Straight out for a throw on the other side. That pretty much sums up this game so far.
    • 13' Osman cuts in and swings in a cross-cum-shot from the left...which takes a deflection off Van Buyten and out for a corner.
    • 12' Schweinsteiger releases Olic down the left flank, he turns inside and feeds Pranjic...but the pass is underhit and Maccabi clear.
    • 11' How badly Van Gaal would love to be able to call on the services of either Arjen Robben or Frank Ribery tonight - but alas the wing wizards are both injured.
    • 8' Gomez brings it clear for Bayern down the right...the play switches to Badstuber on the left...but another disappointing cross follows.
    • 6' Lahm cuts in from the right and feeds Müller...whose cross is a poor one. Cut out at the near post, and Maccabi can break through Katan.
    • 3' Not the most pulsating atmosphere here in the Allianz Arena tonight - perhaps reflecting the crowd's lack of enthusiasm and confidence in their club's general state. Most of the noise is comiong from the small but hardcore section of Maccabi supporters.
    • 1' We're underway in Munich!
    • 19:40 Bayern Manager Louis van Gaal has been very much under the cosh so far this season. His side's Bundesliga form is pretty mediocre - they lie 7th, a full 6 points behind leaders Leverkusen - and his future is in the balance. So far bosses Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß have kept, but for how much longer?
    • 19:35 On the bench for Maccabi tonight: Edri, Harazi, Teixeira, Tawatha, Golsa, Arbeitman, Rafaelov
    • 19:35 Maccabi Haifa team: Davidovitch, Meshumar, Maimon, Keinan, Masilela, Kayal, Ottman, Culma, Gadir, Dvalishvili, Katan
    • 19:30 On the bench for Bayern tonight: Kraft, Braafheid, Breno, Ottl, Baumjohann, Lell and Tymoschuk.
    • 19:30 Right, team news is in. Bayern Munich: Butt, Lahm, Demichelis, Van Buyten, Badstuber, Muller, Schweinsteiger, Van Bommel, Pranjic, Gomez, Olic.
    • 19:20 Both of these sides are enduring a pretty torrid time in the Champions League this year. Maccabi Haifa are now purely playing for a UEFA Cup spot, while Bayern must win tonight and hope Juventus don't win in Bordeaux to keep alive their hopes of reaching the last 16.

  4. Olic has been Bayern's best player all year and our only signing which has come good, his energy has made a huge difference. I would sell Gomez and Klose and keep Olic and Toni, you have Olic's energy to run around in the way Rooney does and Toni to sit up front as a goal predator, sell Van Bommel or Ottl and bring in a creative midfielder or atleast start using Baumjohan, sell Pranjic and Braafheid and bring in a right back and bring Lahm to the left and sell Rensing and try and sign Akinfeev.
