    Bordeaux leave Juve reeling

Juventus need a point at home to Bayern Munich in a fortnight's time to qualify from Group A after they were beaten 2-0 by Bordeaux. More

  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • Girondins Bordeaux
    • Juventus
    • 90+4' FULL TIME
    • 90+4' The young Moroccan has led the line wonderfully today and his header shows he has another side than just pace and skill to him - the boy is top notch in the air
    • 90+4' GOAL! And that is that. Chamakh heads home from the resulting corner
    • 90+3' Another Bordeaux free kick in a good position just left of the area and Wendel's tame shot is deflected wide
    • 90+1' Bordeaux have a chance to finish it but Chamakh fails to find two team mates when clear
    • 90' Three minutes to be added on
    • 90' Substitute Traore is booked for a cynical barge on halfway
    • 89' Sissoko is coming off for Marchisio
    • 88' But it's Planus who takes it and his low shot is comfortably turned wide by Buffon
    • 87' Plasil wins a free kick in a great position for Bordeaux. No more than 25 yards out on the left hand side. He might just have a pop himself here
    • 86' Bordeaux have the ball deep in Juve's half and look in no hurry. Good keep ball from them
    • 84' Diego's 35 yard effort is high, wide and handsome. He gets some tired looks from his team mates
    • 84' Another Juventus free kick here following great work from Giovinco. This is about 35 yards out
    • 83' But again it's short and easily cleared
    • 83' Free kick for Juve - a chance for Diego to put it into the box
    • 82' Substitutes Giovinco and Immobile try to combine but the latter is offside
    • 80' Juve have created very little since Diego's miss. They'll need something in the last 10 minutes. Bordeaux look happy to sit in and shut up shop
    • 79' ...But Diego's cross is easily claimed by Carrasso
    • 79' Juve have a corner on the left...
    • 77' On comes another youngster, 22-year-old Sebastian Giovinco for Amauri
    • 77' Juve work a good position down the right but Cacares's cross is wasted
    • 75' Gouffran is coming off for Abdou Traore
    • 73' For the non-die hards, Del Piero's replacement Ciro Immobile is a 19-year-old Italian who is yet to score for the first team
    • 71' Left back Tremoulinas comes close(ish) for Bordeaux. A corner bounces clear to him and his shot is deflected wide
    • 69' Juve have a corner which Diego puts into the danger area but it hits Legrottaglie's shoulder and flies over
    • 68' Del Piero coming off for Immobile
    • 67' A free kick in a decent position on the right hand side come to nothing from Diego. Not having his best night
    • 66' As it stands Juve may need a point in Turin against Munich in two weeks time. That Diego miss could come back to haunt them
    • 64' WOW! What a miss. Del Piero works it beautifully down the right and finds Diego unmarked five yards out but the Brazilian contrives only to divert it wide and beyond the reach of Amauri who was also lurking
    • 64' Wendel sprays a left-footed shot well over from the corner of the box when well placed. A waste
    • 62' Juve again make a meal of the clearance before Del Piero finally clears
    • 60' Gouffran breaks well with support and Sissoko has no option but to bring him down. Lucky not to be booked the Malian there
    • 58' Caceres booked for a foul on Wendell. That's his second offence in five minutes
    • 58' The first real action for Carrasso in the Bordeaux goal. A snapshot from Diego is powerful but down his throat and he parries clear
    • 57' Smoke from flares has filled the stadium. The Bordeaux fans like what they are seeing. Which has suddenly become not very much
    • 55' Plasil whips over the free kick and Fernando leaps superbly to flick his near post header past Buffon who can do nothing
    • 55' GOAL! And Fernando heads in from the free kick
    • 54' Chamakh with another good run down the left and this time Caceres hacks him down
    • 52' Chamakh is back on after treatment
    • 51' Chamakh does Legrottaglie all ends up and gets a kick in the face for his trouble. The Italian is booked and the Moroccan has a fat lip
    • 49' Another foul by Camoranesi on Wendell. This time it's a bit harsh but the French fans don't see it that way
    • 48' Amauri does well under pressure down the left but his low cross is cleared easily
    • 47' Amauri is played in by Melo after a fantastic run by the Brazilian but he is offside. Only just. But offside
    • 46' Juve get the second half underway. Both sides are unchanged
    • - The good news for Juve is that Bayern are still drawing at home so, as things stand, the Ciro Ferrara's men would go through
    • - Just four shots on target so far - three for Bordeaux and one for Juve. The Italians will take comfort from the knowledge they can play better. Much better
    • - Bordeaux dominated that half without looking particularly dangerous. They had 10 shots to Juve's 2 and had 54% of possession
    • 45+1' HALF TIME: And that last contribution from Plasil kind of sums up the half. It's not been a spectacle
    • 45+1 That free kick from Plasil from the left corner of the penalty area is one of the worst I have ever seen. It goes out for a throw
    • 45' Lovely run from Gouffran from well inside his own half is only halted by a crude tackle from Felipe Melo. Melo is booked
    • 44' Chalme is caught by Del Piero and stays down. Just stepped on his foot - he's ok
    • 41' Gouffran turns inside well but hits his left footed shot straight at Buffon who saves well. Speculative
    • 40' Camoranesi commits another foul to loud whistling from the French crowd
    • 39' The Moroccan's first touch there was sublime. But after that he probably should have scored
    • 38' The chance of the half. Chamakh is played in over the top and is one-on-one with Buffon but the Italian keeper stands tall and blocks well
    • 37' Newsflash. Del Piero touched the ball. But gave it away. He and Diego might as well have spent the evening down the road at the local vineyards
    • 34' That looked a decent penalty shout by Wendell on second viewing. The only debate seemed to be whether it was inside or outsied the box. Del Piero scythed him down
    • 33' Camoranesi is in the book for another foul on the Bordeaux left
    • 32' Wendell and the home crowd want a penalty after an untidy tackle by Del Piero but no one else - including the referee - is interested
    • 31' Things open up for Chamakh about 25 yards out but his shot is well blocked by Grosso
    • 30' Half an hour gone and it's not a classic. Juve just aren't in the game and their talisman Alessandro Del Piero has barely had a kick
    • 28' Chalme gets in down the right again but his cross is tamely headed into Buffon's hands by Plasil
    • 27' Buffon flaps at it but gets just enough on it. Just
    • 27' Bordeaux win another corner after an enterprising run by Chalme down the right
    • 26' In the other game in this group, Bayern Munich are being held at home by Maccabi Haifa
    • 25' ...Tremoulinas gets on the end of it but his header is well over
    • 24' Corner for Bordeaux. Wendell is over this...
    • 22' And the delivery is good but Chiellini's header is into the ground and just over the bar. Closest the Italians have come
    • 21' Juve have a free kick in a promising postion on the right. Diego will take...
    • 19' Bordeaux full back Chalme and winger Gouffran have had four or five opportunities to put balls in from the right so far and both have another opportunity here. But, again, the delivery is poor
    • 17' Chiellini has a knock in the face. One of many in his career by the looks of things. He'll be fine
    • 14' Despite a bit of indecision in the box, the French clear the corner easily
    • 13' A bit of possession for Juve brings whistles from the home crowd and a poor cross is needlessly headed behind by Ciani for a corner
    • 11' Plasil has a half - make that a quarter - chance as he puts a cross from the left wide with an ambitious volley
    • 10' Bordeaux look more up for this. You'd think they were the team that desperately needed a win
    • 7' Wendell dusts himself down to take it but his low shot is poor and easily cleared
    • 6' A free kick in a more dangerous position on the left for Bordeaux here - a foul by Caceres on Wendell
    • 4' The corner comes to nothing. But Juve don't look too clever at set pieces.
    • 3' In it comes...no one gets a touch and Buffon has to turn it around the far post. Juve were like statues there.
    • 2' Bordeaux have a free kick left side after a clumsy tackle by Camoranesi
    • 1' Both teams in their away kits tonight. Bordeaux in red, while Juve are wearing grey
    • 1' Bordeaux kick things off
    • - Both sides missing a few key men tonight. Bordeaux are without playmaker Yoann Gourcuff and Brazilian striker Jussie Ferreira Vieira, while Juve are missing strike duo David Trezeguet and Vincenzo Iaquinta. Who will step up in their absence?
    • - ON THE BENCH Juve subs: Manninger, Cannavaro, Marchisio, Poulsen, Giovinco, Grygera, Immobile
    • - ON THE BENCH Bordeaux subs: Rame, Cavenaghi, Bellion, Placente, Sertic, Traore, Sane
    • - LINE UPS Juventus: Buffon, Caceres, Legrottaglie, Chiellini, Grosso, Felipe Melo, Sissoko, Camoranesi, Diego, Del Piero, Amauri
    • - LINE UPS Bordeaux: Carrasso, Chalme, Ciani, Planus, Tremoulinas, Menegazzo, Diarra, Gouffran, Plasil, Wendell, Chamakh
    • - A win tonight for the French side would guarantee them top spot in the group.
    • - Juventus would join Bordeaux in the last 16 with an away win at the Parc de Lescure tonight. The other big gun in the group, Bayern Munich, must get a better result than Juve to stay in contention.
  • Summary

    • 90+4' GOAL! And that is that. Chamakh heads home from the resulting corner
    • 64' WOW! What a miss. Del Piero works it beautifully down the right and finds Diego unmarked five yards out but the Brazilian contrives only to divert it wide and beyond the reach of Amauri who was also lurking

  1. Anon : You are completely paranoiac ! Go to sanitarium ! In France, we don't buy the strangers players with some money of the mafia, just look how many English players plays at Chelsea or Arsenal. We have an excellent training school and we can see the results now

  5. This is no a good result for us. I dont follow the French Ligue but i didnt know Bordeaux were good! They have beaten Bayern 2-0, us 2-0, they deserve to be on top of the group. If we dont get into the final 16 we have gone backwards, even Ranieri got us into the final 16 last CL

  6. To Alex: STFU!!! What's your F@ckin Point!?
Juve lost because of the stupid coach they got!
Just take a look at substitutions he made!!!!!

It's very interesting to see French teams suddenly doing better now that Platini is Uefa President while English teams are doing worse. Can this be merely coincidence? Watch Marseille qualify next week in dubious circumstances.

  8. Yes it is 2-0 Giorgi. You can put your two fingers deep in the @#$%. Anyway I was not excepting less than this kind of comment from a supporter of the juve

  13. juve had no forwards in the first place. Amauri was inexistent, i honestly dont think he's worth a @#$%. Juve need to invest in some serious attackers. Amauri and Trezeguet are just opportunists, and bad ones!!! they have no skill at all, while Iaquinta is not much better. PLEASE get a decent attacker, who can at least try some dribble or something.

    From roderick_gatt, on Wed 25 Nov 9:33PM
  14. TREZEGUET WOULD SAVE THE DAY!!! what's happened to the OLD LADY?????

From Matt, on Wed 25 Nov 9:30PM
  15. It is important to note that unless Juve wins today and qualifies directly, the result of today's game is useless. A draw or a Juve loss have the same conclusion, which is that Bayern will have to beat Juve in Torino to go through. So to be honest I don't give a rat what today's score is. The next game is the important one.
