    • 90+4 That is that. Rangers threw it away. They're not doomed, but it's a big blow to their chances of qualifying for the last 16.
    • 90' Papac misses a great chance to win the game for Rangers. Meets a corner at the back post, but can only volley over from close range. Golden opportunity.
    • 88' Lovely lay off from Marius Bilasco found Onofras who took a touch before smashing a rocket into the Rangers net from 20 yards out.
    • 88' GGGOOOAAAALLLL for the visitors. Special goal from Onofras! 1-1!
    • 85' Smith makes another change. Fleck replaces Thomson.
    • 82' Rangers sub, Novo on for Miller.
    • 81' Double substitution from the home side. Razvan Paduretu on for Ricardo Gomes and Semedo replaces Varga.
    • 79' Onofras rounded McGregor and shot from a tight angle. The young defender Wilson did well to head off the line.
    • 79' Wilson clears off the line for Rangers.
    • 78' Lee McCulloch shoots from distance, it bounces in front of Arlauskis and flies into the net.
    • 78' GGGGOOOOOAAAALLLL for Rangers!
    • 76' Yellow card for Danny Wilson.
    • 75' McGregor is Rangers saviour again. He flings out his left hand to beat out an effort from Onofras inside the box.
    • 73' Surely it's time for a change?
    • 69' Another decent save from McGregor. Frunza's cross from the left is met with a glancing header from Onofras.
    • 68' Booking for Marius Bilasco for a pretty appalling dive. Shame on him!
    • 67' The game has got messy. It's a battle on this rain sodden surface.
    • 65' The home side are back in control after that scare.
    • 64' Big miss. Rangers needed Miller to take that chance.
    • 62' Great chance for Rangers. Steven Davis played the ball through to Kenny Miller but he can only hit a tame effort at the keeper. Very poor. He tried to open his body up - just couldn't get the power.
    • 59' Crowd getting behind the home side. Rangers are not in this.
    • 57' Just to let you know we had a bit of a technical problem in the first half... hence the lack of comments after the half hour mark. They somehow disappeared.... Apologies. Needless to say no goals, but a few efforts.
    • 56' Decent delivery from Papac - just too high for Miller.
    • 55' Frunza shoots from distance. Thankfully for Rangers it's down the throat of McGregor.
    • 53' Rangers need to step up a gear. This is a slow start to the second half. Where's their urgency?
    • 51' Robust challenge from Lee McCulloch leaves Marius Onofras on the floor holding his head.
    • 50' Another long shot from the home side. Valeriu Bordeanu fires high and wide.
    • 47' Sorin Frunza fires a fierce shot from distance past the post.
    • 46' How long will Smith wait to take a gamble? Rangers need a win.
    • 45' Second half underway. No further changes to either side.
    • 45' Oh dear - there's crowd trouble in the Rangers end.
    • 45+1' Half-time 0-0. McGregor has kept Rangers in this one.
    • 44' Kyle Lafferty clips a right foot shot goalwards from the edge of the box. It flies just past the post. Decent attempt.
    • 30' Kenny Miller drives at the heart of the home side's defence, ignores options to his left and right, and fires off a left foot shoot from the edge of the box. Keeper does well to get down to his left and save.
    • 28' Early change. Balan off for Onofras.
    • 28' From resulting free-kick Maftei unleashes a fierce shot, which is beaten out by McGregor. Good save - he saw it late. Difficult conditions.
    • 28' Booking for Lafferty for a foul on Varga.
    • 26' The ball is lofted back into the box and Naismith heads at goal. It's straight at the keeper.
    • 26' Kevin Thompson whips ball into near post from the left wing. Naismith attacks the delivery, it's awkward for Arlauskis, but he beats it out.
    • 25' Rangers need to be a little more adventurous if they're going to get the win they desperately need.
    • 24' Sevilla have taken the lead against Stuttgart.
    • 22' Rangers are not happy with Smith's decision to deploy Kenny Miller as a lone front man. You have to agree with them... The ball is not sticking up front. He has no support or service.
    • 19' Best effort on goal so far. Kyle Lafferty's cross from the right is met by the head of Steven Naismith. Arlauskis gets down low to his left to smother the effort.
    • 16' Dacian Varga hits an ambitious overhead kick on the edge of the box goalwards... it flies high and wide.
    • 13' Kevin Thompson shoots, it looks like it should be food and drink for Giedrius Arlauskis but he lets it bounce of his chest and back into the danger area. Fortunately for him there are no Rangers players arriving to punish his poor handling.
    • 13' Free-kick to Rangers in a decent position. Centre of the pitch... 40 yards out....
    • 11' Rangers will not want the home side to get a foothold in the game. They have to assert themselves. On this evidence the Romanians are going to press the visitors all over the pitch.
    • 10' Unirea are working the channels well. Rangers are having to defend a lot of balls into the box. To be fair they're doing a decent job so far.
    • 8' Now it's the Romanians who enjoying some time on the ball and a half chance falls for Tiberiu Balan on the right side of the box, but he can only scuff an awful attempt into the arms of Allan McGregor.
    • 5' Good early possession from Rangers.
    • 4' The result - a shocking set-piece.
    • 4' Free-kick to Rangers in an advanced position. Decent build up play from the Scots.
    • 2' Loose pass by Papac - Rangers will hope that doesn't set the tone for the rest of the match.
    • 1' The crowd is jumping and we're off. Rangers kicking left to right.
    • ' The Champions League music is blaring out around the stadium. This is the point of no return for Rangers. Mathematically a draw is enough to keep the Scots' hopes for qualification alive, but in reality a win is a necessity.
    • ' It's been pouring with rain in the Romanian capital - weather conditions the Rangers players should be more than accustomed to.
    • ' Will Rangers crash or burn? The pressure might be too much for the Gers players.
    • ' Dan Petrescu described tonight's game as "the most important match of my coaching career".
    • ' Rangers need at least a point to maintain their hopes of qualification.
    • ' Rangers boss Walter Smith described the 4-1 humiliation at Ibrox as the "poorest display" in the club's "European history". Revenge is on the menu.
    • ' And now for Rangers... McGregor, Weir, Papac, McCulloch, Davis, Thomson, Naismith, Whittaker, Miller, Lafferty, Wilson. Subs: Alexander, Boyd, Novo, Rothen, Beasley, Smith, Fleck.
    • ' And here's how the home side will line-up: Arlauskis, Galamaz, Bilasco, Varga, Vilana, Brandan, Balan, Bordeanu, Maftei, Frunza, Apostol. Subs: Tudor, Mehmedovic, Paraschiv, Paduretu, Onofras, Nicu, Semedo.
    • ' Rangers have failed to score on three previous visits to Romania, all against Steaua.
    • ' Rangers are now without a win in their last seven Champions League matches of which they have lost five.
    • ' Romanian teams have not lost against Scottish opposition for more than 20 years. Since Rangers beat Steaua Bucharest 2-1 in the 1988 European Cup quarter-finals, there have been seven meetings - five won by Romanian sides and two draws.
    • ' Unirea, fresh from their remarkable 4-1 win in Glasgow, are now looking for their first home win in European competition. It is only their third such game - they lost a UEFA Cup match 2-0 to Hamburg last year and drew 1-1 with Stuttgart in this season's Champions League.

  1. Urziceni could beat Rangers.Hard luck but Sevilla has no chance.

  2. What really amuses me is that nobody gave Unirea Urziceni a chance at the start of this tournament.
Everyone seemed to think Sevilla would win the group and that it would be a fight between Stuttgart and Rangers for second.
If the Rumanians go to Spain with the mentality of keeping the score down their goal difference at the moment is good enough to see them through and the Rumanian side already have five points so realistically Rangers need a win and a draw at the very least.

  5. This result probably means Rangers are eliminated for another season.
They can still qualify for the Europa League but they must avoid defeat in Spain and beat Stuttgart at Ibrox.
