    • 22:40 Thanks for following our coverage of Stuttgart v Rangers here on eurosport.yahoo.com. Good night!
    • 90+4' There's the full-time whistle, and the home supporters are not happy. Whistles around the stadium. They can't quite believe their side has failed to win after being so dominant in the first half, though full credit for Rangers for sticking to their task and grabbing a point.
    • 90+3' A free-kick delivered now by Hitzlsperger, but the delivery is poor, and it's out for a goal kick. Kenny Millar is now being replaced by Nacho Novo.
    • 90+1' Khedira lets rip with a low shot from distance, but Lehmann gathers it comfortably.
    • 90' 4 minutes added time.
    • 89' Steven Davis shaves the post with a low drive!!! Jens Lehmann was well beaten! That could have been all three points for Rangers right there.
    • 88' Julian Schieber is on for Cacau now.
    • 87' Hitzlsperger will be eyeing this one up....Pogrebnyak hits it in the end...and straight into the wall. Why did they move the ball at the free-kick? That agev the Rangers wall the chance to break and charge the shot down.
    • 86' Stuttgart's attacking game has gone to pieces. They can't put anything together up front now...but just as I type that Pogrebnyak wins the ball back and wins his side a free-kick right on the edge of the area.
    • 83' Naismith goes thundering into two challenges and getshimself in on Lehmann...and the big German comes out and smothers the shot. He then screams at the referee, protesting at Naismith's two challenges.
    • 77' Madjid Bougherra strides forward, plays a one-two with Jerome Rothen...drives forward...AND SLAMS THE BALL INTO THE BACK OF THE NET PAST LEHMANN!!! Cracking goal for the Algerian, and Rangers are level!!!
    • 76' Rangers have stepped up the pressure. They sense there still might be something in this match for them.
    • 70' Rangers with a free-kick in a dangerous position on the right flank now. Rothern swings it in...but it's cleared by Hitzlsperger at the near post. Poor delivery again!
    • 68' Papac makes a great angle for a ball through to Hleb, but the pass is a poor one.
    • 67' Stuttgart with the first change of teh evening. Timo Gebhart is on for Alex Hleb. The former Arsenal man is nursing a knock, though has done a superb job for his team tonight.
    • 65' Stuttgart try a slick one-touch move to open up Rangers, but once again the final ball is just a little overhit, and Rangers can clear.
    • 64' A cross from Rothen takes a nasty bounce in front of Lehmann, and the former Arsenal man is forced to punch clear. That almost caught him out.
    • 63' Hleb brings the ball forward and spreads it wide for Hilbert, he swings a dangerous-looking ball across goal, but nobody was on hand to attack it for Stuttgart.
    • 60' Thomson thumps the ball off the line after another fine corner from Alex Hleb.
    • 57' Cacau once again picks the ball up from deep, charges forward...he's still unmarked...but the shot is high, wide and none too pretty.
    • 54' Millar finds his way past Delpierre and drives into the area...but he is dispossessed by Trasch and Stuttgart hack it clear.
    • 50' Stuttgart race forward again as Hilbert finds himself in space down the right...but his cross is a little too high for Pogrebnyak.
    • 47' Fantastic ball in from Rothen...and Papac heads wide from an inviting position!!! Diappointing header after he got in behind Hilbert, but Rothen has finally delivered a super ball.
    • 46' Rangers kick off the second half.
    • 45' There's the half-time whistle, and Stuttgart are dominant so far. They lead 1-0, and it could easily have been more.
    • 45' Hleb with a fantastic ball now for Pogrebnyak on the left flank...and he hammers his shot against the crossbar!! Stop, offside flag was up again. The Russian was a yard offside. Correct decision.
    • 44' Mendes with a fine ball in behind the defence...but Lehmann beats Millar to the ball. The offside flag was actually up anyway. At least a sign of some attacking intent from Rangers.
    • 43' It falls to Khedira froma corner now...and Steven Davis makes a vital challenge as the midfielder lines up a volley.
    • 42' A free-kick now to Rangers midway in the Stuttgart half, and finally the Scots have the chance to get some men into the Stuttgart box. Rothen fires it in...but it's a terrible delivery and is straight out of play for a goal-kick.
    • 39' Rothen gets to the by-line and swings it long to the far post...and the header from Thomson is just wide of the target! Millar was actually coming onto the ball if only his team-mate had realised.
    • 38' Papac loses possession on the left dangerously, Hleb feeds Cacau who tears past McCulloch...but puts his shot into the side-netting. That one should have gone across goal.
    • 36' Rothen runs pretty much the fullway across the pitch with the ball, looking for a chance to play in Millar, but Stuttgart manage to shepherd him right over to the other touchline, and his inswinging cross from there is a poor one.
    • 34' Rangers are persisting with this 4-5-1 formation at the moment, though that is likely to change if they lose another goal.
    • 32' The Stuttgart fans are creating a superb atmosphere in the stadium tonight. And Khedira gets forward again as I type...but his cross is a little overhit.
    • 28' Fantastic feet from Alex Hleb. Rangers can't get near him at the moment. To be fair though, it's actually the movement of Pogrebniak and Cacau which has left the Rangers defence at sea. The Brazilian is frequently dropping deep to pick up the ball in space, and the Rangers central defence are struggling to maintain their shape.
    • 25' Mendes now with a vital block to cut out Hilbert's low cross into the box.
    • 24' Cacau drops deep to collect the ball and can run at Rangers again...he lets fly...but hits Pogrebniak, who was right in front of him.
    • 23' Rothen with a lovely long ball to Naismith, he tries to nod it down into the path of Pedro Mendes...but it bounces awkwardly for the Portuguese and Stuttgart can clear. That was Rangers' best bit of play so far.
    • 20' The goal is no more than Stuttgart deserve. They have dominated early on, and now have a lead that Rangers will find it difficult to come back from.
    • 18' Papac slips with his clearance and it falls to Cacau!! he races forward with two men in support, Ranger only have one man back....Cacau plays it infield for Pogrebniak...AND HE DRILLS IT LOW PAST MCGREGOR AT THE NEAR POST!!!
    • 17' Roberto Hilbert goes for a highly ambitious shot from distance, but a deflection off the defender gives Stuttgart a corner. Hleb whips it in...McGregor comes and fails to clear...it falls for Cacau...and McGregor manages to get himself into position to clear. A very nervy moment for the Rangers shot-stopper there.
    • 15' Cacau brings it forward down the right after Trasch clears out of defence, but he fails to find Hleb when switching the play.
    • 12' Rangers are just struggling to get a foothold in the game at the moment. Kenny Millar needs to get his foot on the ball, find a man, and buy his team some time to get themselves out of their own half.
    • 10' Alexander Hleb is the real danger man tonight. Constantly cutting inside from the left to influence the play and feed the front two, Steven Whittaker will have his hands full with the Belorussian.
    • 8' Stuttgart well on top early on. Pogrebniak and Boka just failing to pull off a one-two to open Ranger up down the left.
    • 7' Lovely flowing move from Stuttgart, Pogrebniak lays it off for Hleb, and he forces a corner off McGregor from a tight angle. Stuttgart have overlapping, attacking full backs, who will be looking to get forward at every opportunity, and they are having a big influence early on.
    • 3' Pogrebniak makes his present felt up front early on. Lee McCulloch is giving away a good bit in height to the Russian, though expect those two to still have a big physical battle.
    • 1' Cross in from Hilbert on the right, it comes to Cacau in the middle, and he forces a smart early save from McGregor! Hitzlsperger tries a spectacular overhead from the rebound...but it's well over the bar.
    • 1' Stuttgart kick off the first half!
    • 19:45 Captains Pedro Mendes and Thomas Hitzlsperger shake hands and we're ready to get underway.
    • 19:40 The Champions League anthem is ringing out as we speak! The hairs will be standing up on the backs of the nets of both the spectators and plays here in Southern Germany.
    • 19:30 Rangers have three wins and a draw from their first four Scottish Premier League games. Last weekend they were held 0-0 by Motherwell.
    • 19:15 Stuttgart have made a somewhat shaky start to their season, with a win, two draws and two defeats coming in their five Bundesliga fixtures so far. They were beaten 3-1 away at high-flying Hamburg last weekend. Of course the loss of Mario Gomez hit them hard, though his replacement Pawel Pogrebniak has showed at Zenit St.Petersburg that he can do the business in Europe.
    • 19:10 Rangers: Allan McGregor, Steven Whittaker,Lee McCulloch, Madjid Bougherra, Sasa Papac, Steven Naismith, Steven Davis, Kevin Thomson, Pedro Mendes, Jerome Rothen, Kenny Miller. On the bench for Rangers tonight: Neil Alexander, Kris Boyd, Nacho Novo, DaMarcus Beasley, Steven Smith, John Fleck, Andrew Little.
    • 19:10 VfB Stuttgart: Jens Lehmann; Christian Trasch, Serdar Tasci, Matthieu Delpierre, Arthur Boka; Roberto Hilbert, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Sami Khedira, Alexander Hleb; Cacau, Pawel Pogrebniak. On the bench for Stuttgart tonight: Sven Ulreich (GK), Khalid Boulahrouz, Ciprian Marica, Timo Gebhart, Stefano Celozzi, Zdravko Kuzmanovic, Julian Schieber.
    • 19:10 Right, the teams are in, so let's bring you right up to speed.
    • 19:00 It's a chilly evening at the Mercedes Benz Arena. Difficult to get used to calling it by that name after so many years of it being the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion, but we wouldn't want to upset the proud sponsors, so we'll stick to the official name.

  2. Rangers you can have your domestic success (all history anyway)
You have more money than Celtic and were also formed as a football club in 1873
Celtic on the other hand were not formed until 1888 fifteen years later.
You may win the Champions League one day
    PIGS MIGHT FLY

  5. Just to think now Rangers could go to 10 points after 4games and it is a realistic target. 2 Home games ok Sevilla will be tough but it is possible we can sneak a win and if only if the Rangers players dont disrespect the romainian mob then you would think they can win both them games however it does not always work out that way.

From Mark, on Thu 17 Sep 11:11AM
  6. It is time now to return to a straight knock out competition rather than the group.
I was disappointed in Stuttgart and the Hungarian side Liverpool played were never really a threat in an attacking sense.
The team were champions of their country and as such earned the right to be there but qualification may depend on results achieved by the other teams in the group against this opposition.
Also Stuttgart are struggling in the German League but by the time Rangers play them again this could all change
    They are clearly not the best team in their country;
    If you progress past the group you will play better in later rounds;
It is important to take no team lightly.
I still don’t believe Rangers can win the trophy but Celtic have already won it and lost in the final another time.

  12. SOFT LAD - There is no rogue program on anybody's computer.. Notice that after I posted instructions on how to remove the non-existent program, all went quiet from UKREDNECK? I reckon he was convinced that he'd been infected, and decided to tamper with the registry to remove it, as per my "instructions". The first reg entry he would have removed will stop him accessing the internet, and the 2nd reg entry would stop him booting up, even in DOS. Maybe he'll learn to wind his neck in now! BTW: he'll have to format his h/d, and reinstall from his recovery discs to get his pc working again.
