Basel struck late on to stun Bayern Munich with a 1-0 Champions League last-16 first leg victory at St. Jakob-Park. More
90+4' Again it's played short, and again they show their inability to use that tactic as Bayern get it back. It's soon played back to Sommer who clears... and there's the final whistle! Basel upset Munich but the job is only half done! Thanks for joining me this evening, let me know what you think of a great game and an interesting result on Twitter @liamhappe
89' Bayern bring off Kroos for Ivica Olic in a last-ditch attempt to find an away goal, while Basel do the opposite and remove striker Frei to bring on Cabral.
86' STOCKER! BASEL LEAD!
84' Shaqiri's game against his next employers ends with six remaining, as he makes way for Jacques Zoua.
82' Robben cross goes absolutely nowhere. Then Rafinha is booked for a foul on Frei.
73' ...and a yellow card within two minutes of coming on for Muller.
72' Gomez is through! Great save by Sommer! Muller challenges for the rebound and absolutely clatters the keeper in the process! Free-kick Basel...
71' Thomas Muller comes on, the man coming off is Ribery.
68' Lahm cuts inside and has a pop at goal - a good one as well! Parried around the post by Sommer!
66' My earlier prediction of of a sub was somewhat off the mark, but Basel do now make a change. It's the man who was warming up back around the hour mark - Valentin Stocker - who comes on for Fabian Frei.
65' Robben to shoot. Low and it's blocked by the wall. It comes back to Gomez who tries an overhead kick... but it's hit more up in the air than at goal and allows Sommer to make a routine catch.
63' Robben goes down inside the 'D' as Abraham pulls his shirt. Yellow card for the Argentine too.
51' Fabian Frei is through! Great pass by Xhaka! But Badstuber comes across and concedes the corner!
46' Basel get the second half underway.
45+1' We get but seconds of time added on before the half-time whistle sounds. Not a surprise, hardly anything to stop the game for. One of the best goalless halves you'll ever watch, to be honest. Who can get their noses in front after the break, if anyone? Let me know on Twitter @liamhappe
29' Robben bursts down the right but cuts back to square just outside the box to Alaba! Was top-corner bound but for a decent stop from Sommer who collects following his parry.
21' Streller fed through clean from the left. Where's Boateng? Streller's shot saved by Neuer!
19' Joo-Ho Park cuts inside and feeds Frei inside the box... and Frei hits the bar! What a 20 minute period this is.
17' DRAGOVIC FROM THE CORNER! Off the line!
16' Great early cross from German right-back Steinhofer meets Streller at the near post! Tries to lob Neuer first-time who tips it over on the reflex! Corner coming up.
11' Basel dispossess Ribery but lose it immediately to Lahm who threads his French team-mate through! He goes for the near post at an angle from the left instead of across the keeper, however, and Sommer saves at the expense of a corner!
8' Basel are attacking at least, and it continues as a cross from the right picks out Shaqiri and it's a last-ditch challenge by Boateng which denies him what would surely have been a goal!
7' Rafinha catches Streller inside the Bayern box! Or does he? Nothing given, and a second look shows there was no contact. So why wasn't the striker booked?
3' RIBERY! Parried by Sommer! He has it again, but Sommer catches the second shot! Hot start from the away side.
2' Great run from Gomez to stay onside and latch onto a through pass from Ribery, he retains the ball despite the goalkeeper rushing out but it forces him too wide to try for goal and Basel get their act together.
1' And we're off.

if u like basel & bayern like but if u hate bayern and basel dislike
:P:P:P:P:P GO ....(?):D

Basel :! Wait ! 90 Mins In munchen remains !!!!!!!

fc basel are a strong side

man united will never forget basel!!!

let them tryout a 4-4-2

I warned you in my earlier post not to be shocked if Basel would win. 1st half is a joy to watch with none-stop attacking on both ends. How they managed to go to half time scoreless is beyond me.
Congrats to Basel

WOW! Respect for Basel, giant killers!

At last happy that United didn't lose to a bad team...

I was very sad because bayern lose basel. As bayern club, should win the basel club. I hope bayern win the basel next match at home.

I can bet Bayern will be out this stage. If Basel could see out Man U, I don't see why it'll be shocking if they see out Bayern...

Good match, well done to Basel they wanted it more, Sommer was outstanding.

hahaaaaa. forza juveeeee.

Roben should be benched

Have to say Bayern at the moment remind me so much of my team, Arsenal. Can't defend, underwhelming in attack, can't finish chances they do create and end up losing to a soft goal. Alaba reminds me of Gervinho and Gomez of Van Persie, who seems to, very recently lost a little bit of form. However I would expect Bayern to do something about it, unlike the Gunners.

@max_rmcf
if i see the field, they played on, its harder to play in basel. but the main problem is imo heynckes: why taking out ribery, one of the most active players of bayern? why no substitudes after ~60min, always too late, etc

Bayern what the f--- are you doing your going backwards you need to pull all strings together come on bayern get back to winning again

@Homer: It's harder to play in Moscow than in Basel. Don't get me wrong, Bayern are a decent side, but no champions league winners material.

the ratings are pointless anyway..there were ratings last night 2 minutes after the game started...@#$%.

bayern wont win egg cup.

I won't worry about Bayern they will turn it around in the return leg. After Madrid struggled against CKSA right max_rmcf?
