    Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th Real Madrid goal as they beat Lyon 2-0 at the Stade Gerland in Champions League Group D. More

    • 90+3' FULL-TIME: Real Madrid too good - Cristiano Ronaldo too good. Lyon showed more fight in the second half, but Real's class told. They are through to the knockout stage. Lyon have work to do to make it through - starting with beating Ajax, who won tonight.
    • 90+2' A very open finish to this game - there'd be no surprise if we saw another goal. A Ronaldo shot tipped around the post for a corner.
    • 90+1' Three minutes of stoppages before we reach the end of what's been an entertaining clash.
    • 90' OZIL CLOSE! At the other end Ronaldo lays on a chance for Ozil and Lloris gets just enough on the final pass to deny the German.
    • 89' BRIAND CLOSE! Gourcuff's ball gets Briand round the back of Sergio Ramos, and his shot, poked at just before Casillas can reach the ball, goes narrowly wide.
    • 87' Lyon still pushing gamely forward, but after Belfodil plays in Reveillere down the right Diarra, now at left back, shields him out of play.

    • 63' Cameras pan to Zinedine Zidane in the stands. Should be happier, but he looks as if someone's just made him watch a replay of the 2006 World Cup final for a week straight.

    • 61' WONDERFUL TACKLE FROM CRIS! The defender is on a yellow, and Lyon fans must have had their hearts in their mouths as he went for a sliding challenge on Di Maria as he broke into the box - but he gets the ball cleanly and prevents a golden chance at the cost of a corner.
    • 60' Lyon certainly far more of a threat in this second half, but Coentrao breaking up the play and playing a quick ball to Benzema is a reminder of the dangers at the back. A second Real goal would surely finish the game.
    • 59' Another yellow - this time for Diarra. He misjudges a tackle on Dabo and gives away a free-kick 35 yards out.
    • 58' Benzema takes a shot from just outside the box, this time popping up on the left. Decent hit, but Lloris palms it down in front of him before gathering the rebound.
    • 57' Yellow for Kallstrom - he loses his balance as he goes in for a sliding tackle on Diarra. Pepe looks appalled by that challenge - and he's a man who has seen one or two bad challenges...
    • 56' Briand makes a pacy run down the right and into the area, but again Sergio Ramos blocks him off.
    • 55' Jose Mourinho still very animated, shouting instructions from the touchline. For Lyon Fofana is warming up.

    • 51' KHEDIRA SHOT BLOCKED! Looked destined for goal, too, after a pinpoint ball from Benzema, who's looked very sharp. Reveillere gets his body in the way, and that will sting.
    • 50' Yellow for Khedira, who goes in to a tackle against Ederson with studs showing.
    • 50' Lively opening to the second half, and Lyon have been a bit more adventurous. There are gaps opening up for Real Madrid to exploit, however.
    • 49' Careful! Benzema almost gets on the end of a loose back pass, but fortunately for the Lyon defence Lloris was alert.
    • 49' For a moment Kone looks to have judged his run perfectly, but he's offside as he looks to get to Gourcuff's cross. And his header is saved by Casillas to boot.

    • 45+2' HALF-TIME: Lyon outplayed in the first half by Real Madrid, who lead by a goal. But they've just had a great opportunity to go in level at the break. Gourcuff couldn't take it - will that hurt them in the second half? Join me for that in around 15 minutes.
    • 45+1' GOURCUFF! A chance for Lyon to level and he doesn't take it! Huge as Gomis plays him in, but he hits his shot at a saveable height. Corner for Lyon.
    • 45' Good ball from Gourcuff to Briand, but strong defending from Sergio Ramos shepherds the ball out of Briad's reach.
    • 44' OZIL SPURNS A GOOD CHANCE! Real Madrid pick out the space again down the right, where Dabo is nowhere near Di Maria. He lays it off to Ozil, who has time to pick his spot and ends up playing a backpass to Lloris. Should have done so much better.
    • 43' Lyon not creating anything clear-cut, but at least for the last few minutes they've managed to get forward a little. It's been a difficult half for the French side.
    • 42' Gourcuff tries a low shot from the edge of the area. Not enough power behind it and Casillas gets down well to the near post to tidy up.
    • 41' Kallstrom cramped for space on the left, but does well to lay the ball back and Gourcuff helps it across the middle.
    • 40' Kallstrom picks out Ederson with a weighted pass, but the forward has just gone too early and is flagged offside.
    • 39' Xabi Alonso pings in a low shot from just outside the area. Ozil, in the wrong place at the wrong time, falls to the ground as the ball hits him flush on the heel.

    • 32' CHANCE FOR BENZEMA! Time seemed to stand still as Ronaldo broke down the left. The Lyon defence looked for an offside flag and there was none, so the Portuguese laid on a pass for Benzema, whose shot from 10 yards was straight at Lloris. Could so easily have been the second.

    • 28' CHANCE FOR LYON! Came from nowhere, but Kallstrom latches on to Gomis' chest-down and his shot from distance has Casillas scrambling for a moment.
    • 27' Xabi Alonso tries a shot from behind the halfway line. Ambitious, but not a terrible hit. Lloris makes the save.
    • 26' That's Ronaldo's 30th goal in the Champions League. He's still only 26 years old.
    • 25' GOAL! RONALDO BURIES THE FREE-KICK! Quite, quite brilliant. It doesn't get up high, but he generates so much pace that it beats Lloris. Questions need to be asked of the wall, but nothing Real don't deserve.
    • 24' Ozil's super flick plays in Benzema, and Gourcuff trips him in the D of the penalty area. This is Ronaldo territory.
    • 23' Whistles starting to go round the Stade Gerland as Xabi Alonso holds on to the ball. The home fans haven't seen much from their team so far.

    • 16' A quick throw from Ronaldo of all people nearly releases Khedira. Reveillere shows good composure to ease him off the ball and clean up.
    • 15' Gourcuff's turn to try his luck from distance. He's further out than Ronaldo was, and he's further over the bar to boot.
    • 14' Poor delivery, cleared out immediately. Real break, and the move culminates with Ronaldo lashing a shot from outside the box just over the bar.

    • 12' Di Maria plays a chipped through ball only just beyond Benzema. Superb skill from the Argentine, who left Gourcuff for dead to find the space.

    • 10' FINE SAVE FROM LLORIS TO DENY BENZEMA! Real Madrid had cut Lyon to shreds, and Benzema was one-on-one with the stopper with the goal at his mercy. He tries to place it to the near post, but Lloris tips it around.
    • 9' That's a superb 60 yard pass from Xabi Alonso to Cristiano Ronadlo, who tries to be a little too clever with a pass back on his shoulder.
    • 8' Lovely turn from Ederson - superb control and his through ball nearly picks out Gomis. But as Real Madrid come forward, Cris lunges rashly on Ozil and that's the first yellow of the night.
    • 7' SHOT FROM RONALDO! Given a little too much space 25 yards out. He can be very dangerous from that distance, but not this time - Lloris has it covered.
    • 6' The crowd stirred as Gomis latches on to the ball on the halfway line - but there are three white shirts around him immediately. Lyon's attacking midfielders need to provide more support than that.
    • 5' Lovren penalised for handball, as Real Madrid get a free-kick just inside the French side's half.
    • 4' Free-kick on the right from a useful position as Sergio Ramos fouls Briand. The cross comes in from Cris, it's cleared, and Briand fires a relatively tame shot for Casillas to save.
    • 3' Gomis' eyes light up just for a moment as a through ball arrives - but it's some way beyond his reach.
    • 3' Benzema fouls Lovren as the defender tries to take Lyon out of their own half.
