    Time:90'
    • Villarreal CF
    • Bayern Munich
    • 90+3' And that's that. Bayern's impressive winning and clean sheet records continue, while Villarreal's perfect home record in Europe comes to an end.
    • 90+2' Rossi gets the better of two but is scuppered by Timoshchuk. Cani mirrors the move on the opposite side, beating two before that man again gets it away.
    • 90+1' Quick home free-kick is whipped into the right-hand corner where Mario will chase it down and get a cross in. Bayern head it away but Villarreal keep the pressure on, winning an attacking throw off Lahm...
    • 90' ...but no, it's wide of the near post. Didn't cause any trouble that one. Another poor set piece attempt. Two minutes of added time will be played at the end of this one.
    • 89' Boateng concedes a free-kick to the left of the 'D'. Rossi as you'd expect is straight over to it, and we may have a final threat to Bayern's defensive record...
    • 88' Some Bayern complacency as time runs out allows Rossi the chance to win the ball and try a one-man break, but he's eventually, inevitably surrounded by black shirts and snuffed out.
    • 87' Ribery has been awesome, and he almost creates number three with some jinking and jiving on the edge of the area before his clever ball through the crowd of legs allows Muller to flash a shot over the bar.
    • 85' Bayern have had eight shots on goal to the home side's two. Bayern counter a Villarreal play and Ribery hesitates on the left side of the byline allowing Zapata, a rare standout for the Yellow Submarine, to win the ball.
    • 84' Cani cuts inside from the left but his ball into the area in search of Rossi is heavy and rolls off for a goal kick.
    • 83' This will be seven straight wins for Bayern, and if they can avoid shipping a goal in the dying embers, a seventh consecutive clean sheet as well.
    • 82' Villarreal look down and out. An attempt to create a move from halfway sees Mario's poor control concede an unforced throw-in.
    • 81' Final sub for Bayern and for the game as a whole - scorer of the opening goal Kroos makes way for Luiz Gustavo.
    • 79' Kolarov has equalised for Man City, meaning Bayern will be two points clear at the top of Group A if everything remains the same for the next 12 minutes. Not a bad start to the 'group of death' for Munich if so...
    • 78' Schweinsteiger is booked, even though it was Bayern who won a free-kick for another challenge by Marchena. Thought we'd see a second yellow for the midfielder there...
    • 77' The former Schalke and Genoa man beat his marker impressively to enter the area and blast one beyond Lopez. It's his first for Bayern and his second career CL goal.
    • 76' ...but only as far as RAFINHA! 2-0!
    • 75' Free-kick for Bayern from the right is tame from Kroos and cleared by Bruno...
    • 74' Have to say, the Bayern defence have been top drawer tonight. Neuer is approaching 650 minutes since his last goal conceded, though he has a return to Schalke in his immediate future at the weekend.
    • 73' We finally have another goal in Group A - and it's Napoli who've taken the lead at the Eithad Stadium! Cavani has put us on the verge of two away wins on matchday one.
    • 72' Third and final switch for the hosts as De Guzman draws a line under an average debut for another summer signing, Javier Camunas of Osasauna.
    • 71' Mario with a great ball forward to a wide-lurking Rossi, but his low cross is cleared by Badstuber.
    • 70' A Muller/Ribery combination play on the right-hand side of the box is well cut out by the back line.
    • 69' Bayern continue to search for their second... and Kroos is in the box alone to receive a low cross, could it be his second as well as his team's? NO! HITS THE POST! Close!
    • 68' What a run forward by Kroos! But his square ball to Petersen is squandered by a heavy touch which goes all the way out for a throw-in.
    • 67' Lahm cuts inside with the ball from Ribery and it takes three yellow shirts to cut out the threat.
    • 66' Marchena is down after accidentally running into Ruben. He's now sporting a nice bump on his forehead.
    • 65' Kroos has a shot caught by Lopez. Villarreal give the ball away almost instantly, though, and Petersen is just short of a driven cross from the right.
    • 64' Marchena's raking ball upfield tries to find Ruben but Badstuber again handles the situation.
    • 63' An impressive second half so far for Villarreal, Cani's arrival has helped matters, but they're still susceptable on the counter as Bayern search for the goal that will surely kill the match off.
    • 62' Rossi nutmegs his man in the box but it was intended to find another yellow shirt. Instead, Timoshchuk gets it away.
    • 61' Musacchio, decent all game so far, inexplicably gives away possession in a dangerous area allowing Schweinsteiger to feed Petersen... whose shot is well saved by Lopez! How close to a first Bayern goal was the striker there!?
    • 59' Marchena fouls Schweinsteiger yet again, trying to keep Villarreal's pressure going. Thin ice now surely for the midfielder. Odds on to be the third man subbed off for the hosts, I'd say.
    • 58' Another change for the Yellow Subarmine: Nilmar is replaced by Marco Ruben up front.
    • 57' A Villarreal free-kick is taken short and De Guzman almost puts Nilmar through. Neuer is quick to come and take that one, he had to be too.
    • 56' Marchena kicks into the back of Schweinsteiger's legs. Nowhere near a ball at all. Another deserved booking follows.
    • 55' Muller wins possession during complacent home attempts to play it from the back and has his drive saved by Lopez.
    • 54' Rossi will take the free-kick with his sights set on goal from a good 32 yards... and his low effort is tame, bobbling wide for a goal kick.
    • 53' Timoshchuk uses up the last of the referee's patience when he clips Cani during a Villarreal break and rightly sees yellow.
    • 52' Rossi has to go out to the left to collect a ball forward during an advantage period for Villarreal following a foul in the centre circle, but his cross is typical of a striker and Neuer collects.
    • 51' Schweinsteiger may have room for a shot from 20-22... no, he opts to hold onto it until his attempt to feed Muller is cut out with ease.
    • 50' Cani sends Rossi on his way but Badstuber gets a foot in after keeping up with the Italian's run all the way to the 'D'.
    • 49' Petersen for Gomez a like for like with the current German scoring charts leader being rested it would seem after a disappointing first half. He did score four at the weekend, in his defence... Cani meanwhile is replacing Senna directly in the middle, only with the intention of bringing more energy and flair in an area the hosts were completely overrun in the first 45.
    • 48' Petersen is alone in the box and has another shot saved by Lopez, but he's alone for a reason: he's offside. Flag didn't go up, though. Villarreal counter and De Guzman has a shot blocked by the defence.
    • 47' Bayern have also made a half-time switch, Gomez wasn't his normal self in the first half and on for him is Energie Cottbus summer signing and Bundesliga 2's top scorer last season, Nils Petersen. He has an instant chance getting on the end of Kroos' deflected shot attempt but Lopez clings onto it.
    • 46' And here we go with the second half.
    • 46' We have a half-time change, one that will surprise very few. Cani is on for Marcos Senna, taking the armband from the veteran in the process.
    • 45+2' And there's the whistle. Comprehensive stuff so far for Bayern, what can Villarreal do tactically to shake things up and find a way back into this?
    • 45+1' Just the one added minute coming at the end of the half here. An early delivery by Marchena towards De Guzman is caught by Neuer.
    • 45' Senna will take a free-kick for the hosts from the left, it pinballs off two yellow shirts but the loose ball is there for MARIO! What a stop by Neuer!
    • 44' De Guzman looks to power down the left but Rafinha remains strong and it comes to nothing.
    • 43' Ribery clips Marchena, reminding me that Villarreal do indeed have midfielders on the pitch at the moment.
    • 42' Again, a spirited attempt by Villarreal to get some passing play going is smothered early by the Bayern players and allows them to counter, though Lopez claims the long ball this time.
    • 41' Muller again tries the lifted short pass into the box to Gomez, but he was offside once more.
    • 39' Villarreal clear it once, then again on the second ball.
    • 38' Kroos and Muller team up well on the right and the latter's shot is richocheted off for a corner.
    • 37' Ribery wins a free-kick on the left, in a similar position to one a little while back. It's wasted when they concede one of their own amidst the argy-bargy in the area.
    • 36' Boateng is now partnering Badstuber allowing Rafinha to play in his natural position of RB, by the way.
    • 35' Nilmar shows nice control again but is unable to hang onto it and Bayern break once more. The quick attack is kept at bay so they hold onto it in the centre of the park again.
    • 34' ...and Musacchio cuts out an early cross before the pressure ends with a Villarreal goal kick.
    • 33' The hosts force back another Bayern attack attempt, but the men in black still have it...
    • 31' Ribery cuts through two defenders with ease on the left but is unable to feed Kroos (again) or Gomez, Musacchio this time to cut out the danger.
    • 30' Villarreal win a free-kick on the halfway line and take it short, opting to work it forward.
    • 29' Zapata is the man once again, this time stopping a Rafinha cross from reaching Gomez, who was again offside anyway.
    • 28' Ribery's almost put through but Lopez is alert to it and slides in to collect just in the nick of time.
    • 27' Muller cleverly scoops the ball into the box at the feet of Gomez, but Zapata does well to muscle the striker out of the danger zone before winning the free-kick.
    • 26' Kroos takes a free-kick from the left, it's poorly headed by Gomez but he was well offside anyway.
    • 25' Ribery tees up the cross by Lahm, whose low delivery into the 6 yard box is cleared by Musacchio.
    • 24' The home side are game and full of energy, but are finding their options restricted. Not helping is a long list of absentees when it comes to decent wide players.
    • 23' Van Buyten has pulled up, he won't be able to carry on. He's replaced by Rafinha.
    • 22' De Guzman fails to get another corner beyond the near post. It's cleared back into his path and his second attempt at a delivery goes off for a goal kick.
    • 21' Bruno with a delightful lofted pass from the halfway line to put Rossi through. He's slightly to the left of goal but still forces a corner from Neuer with a fierce half-volley!
    • 20' A Schweinsteiger piledriver attempt is pushed away from goal by Lopez.
    • 19' Zapata just about beats Gomez in the battle for a raking ball upfield as Bayern look for a second via route one.
    • 18' Kroos also gets a warning for a rash challenge on Bruno.
    • 17' Seventeen minutes played across eight games and so far Kroos has the only goal of the Champions League Wednesday.
    • 16' The corner is a poor one, though, and comes to nothing. Villarreal attack again and Bayern have their hands full with Nilmar who beats two before failing to find a yellow shirt with the low centre.
    • 15' Villarreal win their first corner moments after Rossi's superb control and decent run inside from the right culminate in a blocked shot.
    • 14' Gomez gets a free header at the near post from the corner, but is unable to get it on target. Disappointing effort from the in-form striker.
    • 13' Bayern win another corner, Kroos will take it from the left.
    • 12' Just a warning for him though, the right decision. No serious fouls just yet but needs to calm down after an overzealous start to the game.
    • 11' Timoshchuk fouls Bruno and the referee calls the Ukrainian back over...
    • 10' Villarreal break but are unable to find a final ball through De Guzman, forced instead to work it backwards to keep the ball and try again. It culminates in Rossi freeing Nilmar with a nice touch only for the Brazillian's shot to be closed down by Van Buyten.
    • 9' The foul was Senna's, though, and Nilmar is again back to clear the delivery.
    • 8' Excellent play by Ribery to set up a rare goal for Kroos, a blow for Villarreal who'd set up well and looked up for it in the early stages. Senna is recieving treatment after a collision with Ribery.
    • 7' Ribery beats Lopez and cuts back to KROOS! 0-1!
    • 6' De Guzman tries to put Nilmar through but Badstuber intercepts.
    • 5' Now Bayern win a free-kick just inside their own half, only for Schweinsteiger to give the ball away and concede a free-kick nearby the initial one while trying to regain possession.
    • 4' The visitors win a corner from it, which Villarreal clear before winning a free-kick to alleviate the pressure when Timoshchuk clatters a back-tracking Nilmar.
    • 3' Lahm and Ribery work it down the left flank, but Zapater cuts out the attempt to feed Schweinsteiger.
    • 2' Bayern, wearing their all black change kit, make the first real move into the opposition final third but Villarreal get it away at the expense of a throw.
    • 1' Cuneyt Cakir of Turkey gets us underway at El Madrigal!
    • 19:45 No Robben of course for the visitors tonight while Jonathan de Guzman makes his Villarreal debut, joining Nilmar in flanking Rossi up front. The teams are on the pitch and kick-off will be coming up next!
    • 19:40 The hosts have two joint top goalscorers at the moment, tied on one goal apiece in the Sevilla game: Marco Ruben and Giuseppe Rossi. Rossi will be a possible spoiler for the 2010 finalists tonight, however, with every bit the goal scoring potential as Munich's attacking line.
    • 19:35 The question is, can anything stop Mario Gomez, let alone Bayern as a whole? Four goals at the weekend, eight so far this season in total, he's certainly going to be the man to watch.
    • 19:30 "Nothing can stop Bayern now since they won all their games with very top performance! 3 nil for Bavarian." From kai, on Tue 13 Sep 11:30PM
    • 19:25 There are a few more positive omens for Juan Carlos Garrido's men, however - they emerged victorious in all seven of their home games in Europe last season, albeit the Europa League, while Munich have lost in their last five straight Champions League trips to Spain.
    • 19:20 As far as Champions League pedigree is concerned, the Germans unsurprisingly have the advantage once more. This is their 15th group stage appearance to Villarreal's third.
    • 19:15 I'm seeing a lot of fans predicting a comfortable Bayern win in the comments section. There's got to be a few more out there with faith in the Yellow Submarine?!? Let's be having you.
    • 19:10 That said, Villarreal are unbeaten in their eleven home Champions League games so far, with four wins and seven draws, something they'll look to extend in the first competitive clash between the two sides.
    • 19:05 Domestically, there's a big contrast in the form book leading up to this evening's game. The home side scraped a point in a tough game against Sevilla, and were thrashed by Barcelona 5-0 prior to the international break. Bayern on the other hand have scored ten goals in their last two league games, conceding none.
    • 19:00 Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has set a high marker for the Baverian giants tonight, claiming a point at La Madrigal should be the 'bare minimum' collected as they look to qualify in their tough group. Full Story
    • 18:55 TEAMS: Villarreal: Diego Lopez, Musacchio, Marchena, Zapata, Mario, Catala, De Guzman, Senna, Bruno, Nilmar, Rossi. Subs: Cesar, Rodriguez, Cani, Perez, Camunas, Wakaso, Ruben. /// Bayern Munich: Neuer, Van Buyten, Boateng, Lahm, Badstuber, Ribery, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Tymoschuk, Muller, Gomez. Subs: Butt, Rafinha, Contento, Usami, Alaba, Gustavo, Petersen.
    • 18:50 What a challenge Group A will be for all four teams. Both 2010 finalists Munich - whose home stadium the Allianz Arena will be used for the final in May - and 2006 finalists Villarreal must contend with each other as well as the financial might of Man City and dark horses Napoli, who also play each other tonight.
    • 18:45 Good evening and welcome to our LIVE coverage as Villarreal begin their Champions League campaign at home to Bayern Munich!
