Manchester City finished rock bottom of their Champions League group after slumping to a 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. More
90+3' It's over! Manchester City are OUT of Europe this season less than halfway through! Defeat at Dortmund by 1-0 means Ajax will switch to the Europa League with Dortmund and Real Madrid making the last-16 draw. Thanks for joining us tonight! Full report will be available on the website shortly but in the meantime follow me on Twitter @liamhappe and let me know what you made of the game.
90+2' Dortmund's night of celebration gets a fitting final chapter as Balotelli sees yellow for leading with his arm against Santana and slamming the ball down in protest at the defensive free-kick.
88' Bittencourt makes only his second Dortmund appearance (both off the bench) since arriving in the summer, replacing Kirch. And that's it for substitutes.
85' The visitors on the break now and Aguero with a decent run and strike which Weidenfeller keeps out.
82' LEWANDOWSKI! Takes a touch before having an acute-angled strike blocked by Hart, who did well to make himself big. Three guesses which half-time super-sub assisted that effort for his compatriot...
77' Goalscorer Schieber is withdrawn and Robert Lewandowski will get 13 minutes or so to keep sharp and maybe try to close the deal here for Dortmund.
76' Great Dortmund move sees Blaszczykowski cut back to Leitner from the right, but the youngster's shot is miserably wide. Should have been two assists for the half-time sub.
68' City's final switch sees Pablo Zabaleta replace Nasri.
67' Tevez almost channels Ricky Villa (the irony, as a City player...) by keeping FOUR defenders at bay as he jiggles into the box and forces a corner off Weidenfeller.
65' Jeers surround Signal Iduna Park as Mario Balotelli comes on for Edin Dzeko. Here's why...
61' Lescott picks up a yellow which is either for dissent or an earlier foul.
59' Almost two for Dortmund - and two for Schiber! The hosts cutting City to ribbons after the goal and though the striker is played through, he underhits his attempt to chip the outrushing Hart, who catches it.
57' GOAL DORTMUND! Schieber slides in to convert Blaszczykowski's low cross inside the six-yard box. What a run and delivery from the Polish sub! 1-0!
56' Sergio Aguero is about to come on for City as they look for the goal that may just keep their European tour chugging along. Sinclair makes way.
53' Leitner plays superbly off the short corner before teeing up Grosskkeutz to force another Hart save in the near bottom corner!
52' PERISIC! Fantastic volleyed strike on a deep cross from the right and Hart tips it over!
47' Early chance in the second for City! Good ball over from the left by Nasri but Dzeko heads from close range straight into Weidenfeller's waiting clutches.
46' And the hosts kick off the second period.
46' HALF-TIME SUB: Reus is withdrawn by Klopp, and on comes Jakub Blaszczykowski, whose surname I now have safely stored to Clipboard.
45+1' Three seconds into stoppage time and the whistle goes. A quiet half with chances few and far between, but the quality of the two sides is slightly visible in the rare opportunities they have created. Will City get the goal that will put them in the Europa League? Let me know via Twitter @liamhappe
44' Gundogan with a delightful heel flick turns Perisic's chest-down into a one-two and allows the Croat to force another save out of Hart, who holds onto the ball.
38' Once more Sinclair gets a better ball in from the opposite side after the corner is half-cleared, finding the head of Tevez who forces a great parry from Weidenfeller! But the flag was up, anyway.
33' DZEKO! Handy dipping drive from 25 yards is pushed around the post by a diving Weidenfeller!
29' Garcia gets booked for throwing Persic down to the floor before the Croatian can get a cross in from the left. If City do secure a Europa League spot, he will miss the first match.
12' First real chance of the game! Schieber makes his presence felt on the edge of the box and when the back line get the ball off him, it dribbles back to Kirch who forces a catch from Hart with his 20-yard drive.

so if city dont win the prem now they will have no excuse anymore. they already moan about every team beeing after them this season, welcome to the United world.
CRUEL.....A difficult campaign in Europe for Manchester City this season but nobody has thrashed City the heaviest defeat was a 3-1 result against Ajax in Holland. It should be noted at the same time the other three clubs in this Group are previous Winners of the Champions League. City will learn from this and will be in the Champions League again next season
All the money in the world, the pick of any player in the world and Man City still are not good enough to conquer the world.I bet that poor old toy boy from the middle east is spitting sand out of his mouth at 90 tons to the dozen. I have said before and I will keep on repeating it, that you cannot take over the world with pint sized players, do it the Fegie way and your succcess will be guaranteed. Christian - you left your brain in your boots when you got out of bed this morning, save your boasting until you have something to boast about, and the Champions League is something you will not be boasting about for a long time, if not for ever. Savour you Premier title win ...................................
Echte Liebe Borussia!!
The nightmare of English clubs, waste of petroleum dollars, failure of inept stars and Mancini's last season in City. Once again German teams showed off their instance management in soccer. Wealthy clubs like Man city have to take lessons from their German counterparts, winning teams are built and worked on not purchased wholesale.
Marcel Schmelzer is the Best !!!
Christian, are you stupid or what? ManCity finished the CL last placing and not even qualify for Europa League, what a shame and yet, some idiots like Christian still .......by the way, Christian, seems like you are a Barca fan, like ManUtd, Barca also lost to R.Madrid the La Liga title last season...lol
Let me give them some of their own : It could have been 10, it could have been 10. Manchester S*h*i*t*t*y the disgrace of the city.
Oh Tevez you moved to the wrong part of the city Where they play the beautiful game so damn S£itty You're god given talent is dampened by greed Now you cry like such a big titty!! hahahahhaaaaaa!! City suck!!
my sat nav must be broken, it says manchester city is in Europe
you won't see any blue shirts in manchester until sunday
Europe must think that the English premier league is shyte and its all Man City's fault.
