Birmingham City recovered from the first-half sending off of their captain Lee Carsley to beat Championship leaders Wolves 2-0 at home. More
FT No late drama for Birmingham - they have hung on with ease and closed the gap at the top to just two points. Awful night all around for Wolves who are not promoted yet.
87' Larsson doesn't return with Bouazza coming on.
83' Stunning save from Taylor - Jarvis is given too much space to cut in from the left - he fires a bullet at goal but Taylor flicks it over with a smashing save.
69' GOAL FOR BIRMINGHAM - and it is another shocker for Wolves - a long ball - Berra lets it bounce - his head back to Hennessey does not have enough power on it and O'Connor nicks it past Hennessey before putting it into the net.
65' Another Birmingham chance - O'Connor gets his head on a long ball - the Wolves defenders just look at each other and Larsson gets in to fire over the bar. Awful second half performance from Wolves so far.
64' McFadden takes the ball down superbly and plays in Bowyer - the former Leeds man fires on target and Hennessey has to make a smart save.
63' Wolves make their final change - big Welsh striker Sam Vokes comes on with countryman David Edwards sacrificed.
57' Birmingham make a change with O'Connor on for Jerome who we hear is unwell.
53' Karl Henry with a silly push on Murphy and he gets a yellow card.
46' Back underway and both teams have made a change at half-time. Kevin Phillips who never got a kick is off for Birmingham with the fit again James McFadden coming while Wolves bring on Matthew Jarvis for Matt Hill. Jarvis will play on the wing with Ward dropping to full-back you would imagine.
HT And there is the half-time whislte - Birmingham a man down but a goal up! Still all to play for.
45+4 GOAL BIRMINGHAM!!! Bit of a shocker from Hennessey - Carr put in a long ball - both Jaidi and Ridgewell get heads on it but then Hill looks like he is just going to let Hennessey take it. The Welshman is hesitant though and CAMERON JEROME is able to just bundle it in from a yard out.
40' Iwelumo goes off on a stretcher - Mick McCarthy has now lost BOTH his main strikers with Ebanks-Blake out before the game - Irish international Andy Keogh comes on.
37' LEE CARSLEY SENT-OFF - straight red for the Birmingham captain for putting his studs in Iwelumo. Mark Halsey took his time making the decision but it was the right decision. Horrible tackle and Iwelumo is still down.
34' Excellent from Foley as he checks onto his left and delivers a great ball - Iwelumo heads it over but he should have left it for Ward at the back post. Did Ward give him a shot though?
25' Larsson decides to shoot and tries to curl it into the near top corner - Hennessey scampers across but it goes just wide.
22 Stephen Ward owes Wayne Hennessey a drink - Ward under pressure from Carr makes a mess of a back pass to his defenders and Jerome is away - Hennessey comes out though and gathers the ball as the striker tries to round him. Jerome gets the rebound too but can only shoot wide off balance.
8' With two big men up front Wolves are looking to use the long-ball - Iwelumo has just held the ball up well - he checks it back to Ward who whips in a good ball. Edwards comes rushing in again and puts a decent header wide.
1' And Birmingham get us underway in front of a red hot atmosphere at St Andrew's.
83' Stunning save from Taylor - Jarvis is given too much space to cut in from the left - he fires a bullet at goal but Taylor flicks it over with a smashing save.

Who the @#$% r Wolverhampton?
Look upwards and you'll see them - THEY are Champions, NOT you!
So, if Blades beat nothing-to-play-for Palace, you'll need an away win at everything-to-play-for Reading.
Hmmmm, makes for a very interesting final day of the season - could go either way.

Have to agree with comment 108!
Wolves, Blues, and Albion are all extremely capable Championship sides, but whether any of them can cut it in the Premiership is a different matter! Let's face it, the top Premiership sides are worlds apart from where we are now. All the Midland sides can hope for is to avoid relegation in the first year, and hope to consolidate after that. As a Wolves fan, I'd still like to see all the Midlands clubs in the Premier League giving the Midlands a decent representation at the top level. Blues have been there, and held their own for a few seasons, until they had a bad run. Then they got rid of Brucie - and look where he is now! I know there's a lot of competition amongst the various fans, but I'm sure most would agree with my sentiments.

we tamed the wolves, just hope someone blunts the blades because they are the only team to be a danger to the top 2 sides

10 men blues shove it up the dingles

oh yea - and another point - why is it that the wolves team were so @#$% tonight? They weren't exactly overstretched were they - playing mid week games (behind closed doors and getting players injured obviously didn't help - but was there a behind the scenes plan???? why is it that just as they seem to be progessing that both the 'manager and owners' seem to back track and say to other teams 'AND THE OFFICIALS' --- PLEASE LET US STAY IN THE CAMPIONSHIP'.......... oH YEA - THEY DON'T WANT TO LIVE UP TO SIR JACK'S LEGACY OR THE PROMISE THAT WAS MADE!!!

O.K. - so how much did blues pay wolves..... not for the victory, but to field the 1st team instead of the 2nd team they fielded in wolves 2-0 match in January??? And what is it with the 'officials' these days when they can't give an obvious hand-ball or foul? And then let a goal???

My dad told me that there used to be quite a good football team in Birmingham once. Mind you, that was a LONG time ago...

What strange folks must live there - SO excitable!

Note to self.... Avoid the town of Birmingham at all costs....

well well here we go again instead of resting your team on a sunday pop up to watch fc perton, and bring your players to sit and watch how to battle and enjoy playing for (nowt)but enjoyment

Have your mummies given permission for you to use the family PC this evening?

Is it a little town?

Where exactly IS Birmingham?

we all know that burnley will romp in the premiership next year!

wolves will c birmingham in the prem

Doesnt matter, both will go up, then both will be chewed up by the premier league and spat back out again! The brummies in blue are to good for the championship, but not good enough for the prem. FACT!
