Spectacular second-half strikes from Martin Paterson and Steven Thompson gave Burnley a 2-0 Championship play-off win at Reading. More
90+3 That is it! Burnley are in the play-off final and Reading have to scrap out another season in the Championship after the wheels came off their season in January. A real shame for the Royals but Burnley were organised and opportunistic, and they face Sheffield United in the final at Wembley.
85' Jensen punts it long and no-one deals with it, Rodriguez gets a slight touch, Hahnemann is nowhere and it trickles just wide!
82' BURNLEY SUB: Elliott off for Eagles.
79' BURNLEY SUB: Rodriguez on for Thompson.
75' The ball drops to Kitson just inside the box but he lashes it over! Should have got it on target!
74' Kalvenes is a lucky, lucky ball after a horribly late tackle on Rosenior. Should have been a second yellow but just a word. Unnecessary.
70' BURNLEY SUB: Alexander off for Gudjonsson.
59' Long punt from Jensen, Thompson wins the header and it drops for him on the edge of the box AND HE UNLEASHES AN OUTRAGEOUS LEFT-FOOT VOLLEY THAT LOOPS UP AND DIPS OVER HAHNEMANN AND IN! Two incredible goals from the Clarets in 10 minutes! Reading have bossed this game but are surely out of the play-offs now.
58' Shane Long is now booked, Riley is trying to stamp his authority on the game as the tackles fly in.
57' Now Kitson is booked for Reading for a rough aerial challenge.
56' Elliott is booked for grappling with Tabb.
52' READING TRIPLE SUB: This is either genius or desperate from Coppell as he brings on three players who clearly should have started a game of this magnitude, Kitson, Hunt and Little. Off go Church, Kebe and Matejovksy.
50' Paterson on the right, he cuts inside and moves towards goal AND UNLEASHES AN INCREDIBLE LEFT-FOOT SHOT THAT FLIES CLEAN INTO THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF THE GOAL! WHAT A GOAL! RIDICULOUS STRIKE! I don't think I've ever seen a shot hit so sweetly, that was a goal of Champions League quality, let alone Premier League. He'll never hit another one like that in his life.
46' Second half underway!!
45+2 Half-time, goalless on the night and Reading behind 1-0 on aggregate!
42' Eventually it's to be taken, Harding and Matejovsky over it, just on the edge of the box on the right... HARDING DRILLS IT LOW THROUGH THE WALL BUT JENSEN PARRIES AND GETS ON THE REBOUND JUST BEFORE LONG! Good effort.
40' Mistake from Caldwell, Matejovsky plays the loose ball through for Long, he's in and Jensen comes out and blocks well but it rebounds off Long and on to his arm, free-kick but - in a very good display of refereeing - no card, despite Reading's protests. He could do nothing about it, he made the challenge without his arms but the rebound put against one.
34' Very very harsh booking for Duberry after he was late on Caldwell in the Burnley box, going for the ball after a Matejovsky's cut-back was short. Riley is really riling the home fans now.
15' Matejovsky swings it over, headed clear but only to Long on the left, he takes a touch and drills in a low shot that is well-parried by Jensen but it drops to Duberry on the edge of the box who lofts a first-time lob that beats the stranded Jensen but lands on the roof of the net!
14' Kalvenes booked for taking Church down to the right of the box...
1' Match underway in Reading!!
- Reading need to overturn a 1-0 lead and a terrible home record - no win since January at the Madejski - if they are to beat Burnley to the play-off final: LIVE from 19:45!

Best team won well done Burnley. This is for my nemsis phil who for some reason thinks Reading should have won???????????????????

Nice game from Burnley, keep it up

The next season is going to be a cracking season for football. With the new promotions this should
be an interesting time.

Come on Burnley you can do it

COME ON BURNLEY I KNOW WE CAN DO IT,WELL DONE TO THE LADS FANTASTIC SEASON.
AND BESIDES I WANT THE BRAGGING RIGHTS NEXT YR INSTEAD OF MY BLADE SUPPORTING HUSBAND
CLARET TILL I DIE

To KingSport.....Burnley deserve to be in the premiership just as much as Sheffield Utd do.We`ve both earned the right to a crack at getting there.....Oh i suppose your one of the cry baby blades brigade who still moan on about last seasons relegation...You lot need to face facts and one of those is if you would have beat Wigan in your last game you would have been safe...But no you get beat and then try to find some pathetic excuse like the Tevez affair to grab onto!! West Ham were soft by paying you compensation, they should`ve told you to f**k off instead.
OWEN COYLE`S CLARET AND BLUE ARMY.

Burnley SERIOUSLY don't deserve a spot in the premiership next season. Come on Sheffield united! Beat Burnley!

To lawatsonuk....What a muppet comment from a bitter n o b ender.
And to the Reading fans, thanks for the messages of support. I`m sorry to see Coppell has resigned, but maybe it`s for the best in the long run.

Well now 2 down 1 to go- come on Burnley One more shove and you are back where you belong. If it happens Coyle should Get all the credit and all the Money it makes. The fans of this town deserve it, the board owe it!
MICK

unlucky Reading, Steve Coppel has still done a good job there....If Dave Kitson didnt go chasing the big time and stayed with Reading they would have been promoted automatically.....Dont worry I think Sheffield Utd will be toooooooooooooo strong for Burnley

Well done the Burnley Team And What a super goal From paterson! magic, Read some very nice comments from a few royal fans. Dont despair they are a good team Im sure they will do a lot better next year.- hold on to kopell hes a v good manager, good luck from a aged Burnley fan. Owen Coyle-what can I say =MAGIC

Dingles we might be, but fork you, we went up as Champions..... Reading were an average this season, they played well, but lost tooo many games they should have won....
I think Burnley will beat Sheffield United.... who cares.. WOLVES FC .....

if by doing well you mean relegated then yes, they did well

LFCool, hahahahahahahahahahaha, no you getting me mixed up with your dad, the gayboy you pri.ck, where is your maw?

What a shame and how frustrating for Reading, and they did relatively well last season in the Premiership, just losing out to (my favorite team)) Fulham on goal difference.

the potters have played well with out DAVE KITSON he can't hit a barn door with a shotgun so their is no way he going to get a gaol for you reading

A wonderful result for the Clarets, if any team deserved a Wembley appearance it is Burnley. Congratulations to all the players and their absolutely brilliant manager Owen Coyle he is magic

Burnley have had a superb season in the UK this year.
Reading are a really good side and I hope they make the play offs again next season, if not better.
Well done Burnley. Wembley here we come. Come on Burnley.
