  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • Reading
    • Burnley
    • 90+3 That is it! Burnley are in the play-off final and Reading have to scrap out another season in the Championship after the wheels came off their season in January. A real shame for the Royals but Burnley were organised and opportunistic, and they face Sheffield United in the final at Wembley.
    • 90' We're into three minutes of added time now, Reading going through the motions...
    • 88' Gudjonnson has a long shot which rises over the bar.
    • 85' Jensen punts it long and no-one deals with it, Rodriguez gets a slight touch, Hahnemann is nowhere and it trickles just wide!
    • 82' BURNLEY SUB: Elliott off for Eagles.
    • 79' BURNLEY SUB: Rodriguez on for Thompson.
    • 78' Reading fans are leaving now, and understandably so - they need three goals in 15 minutes.
    • 75' The ball drops to Kitson just inside the box but he lashes it over! Should have got it on target!
    • 74' Kalvenes is a lucky, lucky ball after a horribly late tackle on Rosenior. Should have been a second yellow but just a word. Unnecessary.
    • 72' Blake has a free-kick but sends it wide.
    • 70' BURNLEY SUB: Alexander off for Gudjonsson.
    • 68' Kitson has a pop from range, blocked but it falls to Long who hits it well over.
    • 65' Long-range shot from Gunnarsson but nowhere near target.
    • 63' Reading are shell-shocked, they look unable to fathom how this has happened. They're obviously the better side - but Burnley are Cup specialists, as Chelsea, Arsenal, Fulham and West Brom found out earlier this season!
    • 61' Gunnarsson with a long shot but easily parried by Jensen, whistle had gone anyway.
    • 59' Long punt from Jensen, Thompson wins the header and it drops for him on the edge of the box AND HE UNLEASHES AN OUTRAGEOUS LEFT-FOOT VOLLEY THAT LOOPS UP AND DIPS OVER HAHNEMANN AND IN! Two incredible goals from the Clarets in 10 minutes! Reading have bossed this game but are surely out of the play-offs now.
    • 59' Riley is now having a word with Chris McCann, who is angry about something.
    • 58' Shane Long is now booked, Riley is trying to stamp his authority on the game as the tackles fly in.
    • 57' Now Kitson is booked for Reading for a rough aerial challenge.
    • 56' Elliott is booked for grappling with Tabb.
    • 55' Decent delivery by Little but headed away by the visitors.
    • 54' Free-kick to Reading on the left, Little to take...
    • 52' READING TRIPLE SUB: This is either genius or desperate from Coppell as he brings on three players who clearly should have started a game of this magnitude, Kitson, Hunt and Little. Off go Church, Kebe and Matejovksy.
    • 50' Paterson on the right, he cuts inside and moves towards goal AND UNLEASHES AN INCREDIBLE LEFT-FOOT SHOT THAT FLIES CLEAN INTO THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF THE GOAL! WHAT A GOAL! RIDICULOUS STRIKE! I don't think I've ever seen a shot hit so sweetly, that was a goal of Champions League quality, let alone Premier League. He'll never hit another one like that in his life.
    • 48' Similar pattern then, Reading pumping it towards Burnley's box but nothing giving...
    • 46' Second half underway!!
    • - Click on the link for live photos from tonight's game: Reading v Burnley in pictures
    • 45+2 Half-time, goalless on the night and Reading behind 1-0 on aggregate!
    • 45' McCann races down the right, a good cross but Pearce heads away just in time with Paterson flying across.
    • 44' Harding puts it in, away by Duff but a foul by Church, free-kick.
    • 43' Church gets in at the near post for Tabb's ball but behind for a corner! Good run by the youngster.
    • 42' Eventually it's to be taken, Harding and Matejovsky over it, just on the edge of the box on the right... HARDING DRILLS IT LOW THROUGH THE WALL BUT JENSEN PARRIES AND GETS ON THE REBOUND JUST BEFORE LONG! Good effort.
    • 40' Mistake from Caldwell, Matejovsky plays the loose ball through for Long, he's in and Jensen comes out and blocks well but it rebounds off Long and on to his arm, free-kick but - in a very good display of refereeing - no card, despite Reading's protests. He could do nothing about it, he made the challenge without his arms but the rebound put against one.
    • 38' Burnley are really struggling to get anything going at the moment but Reading have thus far been unable to exploit this. Another cross from Kebe on the right but this one's poor and out for a goal kick
    • 36' Harding with an error but Elliott's ball is out for a throw.
    • 34' Very very harsh booking for Duberry after he was late on Caldwell in the Burnley box, going for the ball after a Matejovsky's cut-back was short. Riley is really riling the home fans now.
    • 30' Long in the box goes down like a tonne of bricks as he is robbed by Caldwell, no way is that a spot kick.
    • 28' Reading counter, Kalvenes well out of position and Gunnarson is in on the right, he drills it across and Church slides in but just behind him and hacked away!
    • 27' Corner to Burnley, bit of head tennis and McCann heads it down into the danger area but no-one is there and Hahnemann takes.
    • 26' The corner is swung in but a foul on a Reading player gives the hosts a free-kick.
    • 25' Blake on the left swings a cross over and Elliott with a spectacular volley that is deflected wide for a corner! That was exceptional technique from Elliott, if that had not hit a Reading player it could easily have gone in as a wonder goal!
    • 24' Caldwell heads clear after another high ball comes in from the right. Reading using Kebe and Rosenior's flank to good effect.
    • 22' Pretty much non-stop pressure from Reading, although a brief respite as the Clarets go down the other end, Paterson chasing the ball into the box but back with Hahnemann.
    • 21' Reading have a corner now but cleared by Burnley. Put straight back down the other end by Reading though.
    • 20' Long is played in down the right, loads of space but great defending by Caldwell to slide in and put it out for a throw.
    • 18' Free-kick wasted though, headed clear then put back in down the right, too long for Kebe.
    • 17' More good pressure from Reading as it's played by Matejovsky to Rosenior who is hacked down by Blake, dreadful challenge but no card! Much worse than Kalvenes's. Riley is getting everything wrong already...
    • 15' Matejovsky swings it over, headed clear but only to Long on the left, he takes a touch and drills in a low shot that is well-parried by Jensen but it drops to Duberry on the edge of the box who lofts a first-time lob that beats the stranded Jensen but lands on the roof of the net!
    • 14' Kalvenes booked for taking Church down to the right of the box...
    • 12' Reading are bossing these opening exchanges, clearly desperate to overturn the goal conceded last last weekend and desperate to improve on a dreadful home record.
    • 9' Long and Carlisle collide in the air and the ref decides Long fouled Carlisle, odd one as it looked the other way. Gunnarsson is called over by Riley for protesting but, to be honest, it was a terrible, bizarre decision as Long did not touch Carlilse, who put an arm in his face. Weird.
    • 8 Great cross from Kebe on the right but just tipped away by Jensen with Long flying in.
    • 7' Free-kick then.... Matejovksy runs up and catches Burnley unaware with a low through-ball for Long but too much pace on it and it rolls out. Nice idea, poor execution.
    • 6' Tabb gets forward again and cutting inside is pushed over by Elliott. Another free-kick to Reading, more central this time...
    • 5' Thompson is brought down by Gunnarsson, free-kick around 35 yards out, veterans Alexander and Blake over it but a terrible, weak effort from Blake hits the two-man wall and Reading clear.
    • 4' Reading win a corner on the left, swung over into the six-yard box but there's a push on Carlisle, free-kick Burnley.
    • 3' Marauding run by Tabb down the left, a one-two with Gunnarsson and Duff chops him down, early free-kick on the left to Reading!
    • 1' Match underway in Reading!!
    • - BURNLEY TEAM NEWS: No changes other than Chris Eagles dropping to the bench for Wade Elliott, a more solid, defensive option in midfield.
    • - READING TEAM NEWS: Coppell has oddly chosen young forward Simon Church to replace the injured Kevin Doyle, leaving Dave Kitson on the bench. Jay Tabb starts left-mid instead of Stephen Hunt too, in the biggest games of Church and Tabb's short careers to date.
    • - Reading need to overturn a 1-0 lead and a terrible home record - no win since January at the Madejski - if they are to beat Burnley to the play-off final: LIVE from 19:45!
  • Summary

  6. To KingSport.....Burnley deserve to be in the premiership just as much as Sheffield Utd do.We`ve both earned the right to a crack at getting there.....Oh i suppose your one of the cry baby blades brigade who still moan on about last seasons relegation...You lot need to face facts and one of those is if you would have beat Wigan in your last game you would have been safe...But no you get beat and then try to find some pathetic excuse like the Tevez affair to grab onto!! West Ham were soft by paying you compensation, they should`ve told you to f**k off instead.
