90+3' The full-time whistle goes at St James' Park, and Newcastle have clinched their first win of this Championship season, beating Reading 3-0 courtesy of Shola Ameobi's hat-trick! Thanks for joining us.
78' Alan Smith is replaced by Geremi as Newcastle ring the changes following the third goal.
77' Xisco replaces Ameobi, who departs to a vociferous reception from the Newcastle supporters, and that was about to happen regardless of the penalty.
75' GOAL!!! Ameobi shows great composure in slotting home the penalty to Federici's right, sending the keeper the wrong way - that's his hat-trick!
73' PENALTY! The referee's assistant gives a penalty after the ball strikes Shane Long's arm, and Shola Ameobi will now have the opportunity to score his hat-trick!
68' Ameobi almost grabs his hat-trick with a bullet header from the resulting corner, with Federici making a fantastic point-blank save.
66' Joey Barton is booked for a scrappy rather than a malicious infringement, and the midfielder simply made a clumsy tackle on Davies.
65' James Harper and Noel Hunt come on to replace Jimmy Kebe and Jay Tabb for Reading.
60' GOAL!!!! Shola Ameobi grabs his second of the match to double Newcastle's lead! Superb battling from Nolan in chasing a ball others left for dead sees the ball whipped in for Ameobi and he finishes crisply at the back post!
46' The second half is underway at St James' Park, and the crowd are urging the Arsenal players to build on their 1-0 lead.
45+2' Smith takes the ball down coolly for Newcastle on the edge of his area, and as the half-time whistle goes, debate will centre around whether the midfielder should have been sent off. In any case, Ameobi's 38th-minute strike separates the sides at St James' Park.
40' What a chance to equalise! Scott Davies gets down the left and slides a probing pass across the face of the goal which Shane Long comes tantalisingly close to converting! His slide was not quite quick enough.
38' GOAL!!!! Shola Ameobi scores for Newcastle! The imposing striker steals a yard of space at the back post and heads Jose Enrique's pinpoint cross past Federici! It is no less than Newcastle deserve, and they lead 1-0!
37' A fierce strike from Gutierrez at close range forces Adam Federici into a point-blank save, and that was a terrific stop from the 'keeper.
24' A superb delivery from Tabb is whipped devilishly to the back post but not a single Reading player makes the run to meet it - that could have been a very good opportunity.
23' Smith is extremely fortunate not to be sent off for a late lunge on Karacan, and that was certainly worth a booking, but not a red card in referee Anthony Taylor's view.
22' Alan Smith is booked for a robust, and pretty reckless challenge on Simon Church, and the Reading striker is lying on a heap on the floor.
14' Gutierrez takes a stunning pass from Nolan down into his path, but stumbles over the ball and Barton cannot salvage the opportunity with a scuffed shot - what an opportunity!
