  2. On September 17th. 2011 when Cardiff visited Bloomfield­ Road, Crainey and Phillips (Matt) were brought on as­ subs in the 2nd. half and Kevin Phillips equalised­ shortly afterwards (62min.) The Blackpool team and subs­ were eight players different on that day. ( Hudson­ played for Cardiff but Mason didn't come on until­ the 85th.)
    As I left the ground, I was thinking how­ difficult the 'return leg' would be. And the­ whole season, for that matter!
    Well! The return leg­ has exceeded all my expectations.
    But, we must not­ squander this advantage, particularly our 'double­ figure' goal average which could have a critical­ bearing on final league placings. ( the word­ 'defence' springs to mind)
    Blackpool's­ 'impact substitutions system' is becoming­ well-known now. Yes, it carries some risk, particularly­ if the opposition are able to score goals in the 1st.­ half and continue confidently.
    I suppose it's a­ case of 'if it aint broke don't fix it.'­ Kevin Phillips's legs might well agree?
