    • Monterrey
    • Chelsea
    • 90+2' There goes the final whistle! A 3-1 win for Chelsea. They will face Corinthians in the final on Sunday.
    • 90+1' GOAL! De Nigris gets his reward for his efforts as he tumps a shot beyond Cech. Won't make much difference, but he has deserved that goal.
    • 89' We are into two minutes of time added on.
    • 88' Azpilicueta takes no chances as he thumps the ball long down the line. De Nigris has been his side's best performer today. On another day, may well have had a goal.
    • 87' No Rafa out ditties today. Or none that I've heard among the hardy band of Chelsea travelling fans.
    • 86' Lampard smacks a shot over the bar from 30 yards. Plenty of pace, but no direction.
    • 85' Monterrey will face Al Ahly in the third place play-off before the final on Sunday. Both sides well off the pace in these semis.
    • 84' Walter Ayovi carrying the ball away from Oscar. The referee can blow when he wants here. Isn't going to make any difference to this outcome.
    • 83' Victor Moses caught offside with Chelsea seeking a fourth goal from a productive evening's football in Yokohama.
    • 82' César Delgado makes way for Carreno as Monterrey shuffle their pack for the final time.
    • 81' Meza departs for Solis for the Monterrey side.
    • 80' Cahill bundles the ball away from the cross by Osorio. Chelsea have gone to sleep a bit in this second period.
    • 79' Azpilicueta with a cool chest back to Cech in the Chelsea goal.
    • 78' Victor Moses is going to take over from Torres here. Torres can be fairly happy with his lot.
    • 77' Cardozo just fails to pick out the run of De Nigris. Another promising moves founders on the rocks of lacking quality.
    • 76' Chavez looks fairly perturbed as he limps around for a bit trying to regain his composure.
    • 75' Ferreira brings down Basanta and that will be a free-kick to Monterrey in their own box.
    • 74' Mata fails to pick up the pass from Ivanovic. Monterrey not really offering any pace in their attacks which makes it fairly comfortable defending for Chelsea.
    • 73' Ferreira is going to play on the right hand side of midfield for these closing 16 minutes or so.
    • 72' Paulo Ferreira replaces Mata for Chelsea. His work is done for the day.
    • 71' De Nigris finding some more space, but Cahill snuffs him out with a timely block.
    • 70' Monterrey make another surge up the park through the thrust of De Nigris, but once again Cech is off his line to complete a comfortable enough take.
    • 69' Azpilicueta tries to join the party with a bounding run, but Jonathan Orozco keeps his eye on the cross in coming off his line to collect.
    • 68' De Nigris can't cut a dash through the middle of the Chelsea defence as Cech is quickly out again to gather in the loose ball.
    • 67' Lampard tries to pick out Azpilicueta with a long ball before he is deemed to be guilty of fouling Corona out wide.
    • 66' This tournament moving from Japan for a two-year run in Morocco next year.
    • 65' Lampard decides to try his luck, but the shot is always flying well wide of the target from distance.
    • 64' Mata tracked well by Basanta, but it is all hands to the deck for Monterrey as Chelsea continue this impressive pressing game.
    • 63' Corona chips the ball in from out wide, but ends up dinking the cross straight into the arms of Cech.
    • 62' De Nigris has been the main threat for the Mexican side, but he is tackled by Cahill who shows his quality to win the ball inside his own box.
    • 61' Luiz departs to be replaced by Frank Lampard.
    • 60' Chelsea just keeping the ball with so much ease. Lampard getting ready to see these closing 30 minutes.
    • 59' Jonathan Orozco smashes the ball long from his own box and straight out of play.
    • 58' Osorio forced to wallop the ball away from Cole after a lovely pass by Oscar. Monterrey continue to sit too far off the Chelsea players.
    • 57' Ricardo Osorio is caught offside after setting off too early.
    • 57' Perez is wheeled off with Ricardo Osorio introduced. Won't make much difference to the scoreline unless Chelsea stage a massive collapse.
    • 56' Basanta doing well to deprive Torres of possession as he prepared to pull the trigger.
    • 55' Looks like Monterry are going to make a change here with Juan de Dios Ibarra Corral about to see some action.
    • 54' Chance for De Nigris with Chelsea caught napping at a corner, but Cech spreads himself well to make the stop.
    • 53' Chelsea safely heading for this final then. The Chelsea fans shouting the name of Frank Lampard, who may well see some action sooner rather than later.
    • 52' Oscar slips the ball into the path of Mata, who slides the shot wide of the target. But he is offside.
    • 51' Orozco called on to block the shot by Luiz. Chelsea threatening to cut loose here. Monterrey all over the place in defence when Chelsea inject some pace in their play.
    • 50' Superb piece of skill by Hazard, but Orozco does well to block the shot. Almost a fourth goal.
    • 49' Chelsea lead 3-0. Suddenly well in control of this contest. Could easily be a few more goals in this for Chelsea, who have winded the Mexican side at the outset of this second period.
    • 48' GOAL! Chavez sees the ball drop into his own net from the Mata cutback. Unfortunate, but what a brilliant pass by Torres. Super run and cross by Torres.
    • 47' GOAL! Torres sees the ball deflect off an opposing player and fly into the net. Brilliant build-up play by Hazard. Chelsea lead 2-0.
    • 46' We are off and running in the second half.
    • 45+1' There goes the whistle for the break. A 1-0 lead for Chelsea at half-time. All going according to plan so far for the English side.
    • 44' We are into one minute of time added on.
    • 43' Delgado dances down a flank. Throws over a cross, but easy take for Cech.
    • 42' Hazard and Mata benefit from hunting in packs to earn Chelsea a corner, but the opposing side rise to clear the danger from their own box.
    • 41' Heading for the break, Rafa Benitez will surely be midly content despite his animated behaviour on the touchline.
    • 40' Corona getting some joy with those cross balls when he tries to find De Nigris.
    • 39' Walter Ayovi drives a cross straight out of play seconds later. Poor stuff from a promising position.
    • 38' De Nigris sees another header drop wide of the opposition goal to illustrate his menace.
    • 37' De Nigris just fails to connect with a ball in the middle. Most of the Mexican side's most dangerous moments have come with some of these crosses.
    • 36' The Chelsea fans look as happy as they can be holding this 1-0 advantage. At least they're not facing Arsenal's problems, I guess.
    • 35' Orozco wearing a fairly snazzy pair of leggings or tights in the Monterrey goal as he lifts the ball long down the pitch.
    • 34' Lovely piece of passing play by the Mexican side before Cahill gets his big toe on the ball to prod it away from the Chelsea box.
    • 33' UEFA president Michel Platini well wrapped up in one of those giant football jackets. Looks like the half-time refreshments are on his mind.
    • 32' Cole with a ball into the path of Torres. Wasn't the greatest of passes as the Spain forward fails to control the cross. Monterrey survive that attack.
    • 31' This continues to give off the sensation of a pre-season session, but that would all change of course if Monterrey can deduce the answer to find an equaliser.
    • 30' Mata lays the ball off to Mikel, who drags an effort miles wide from distance.
    • 29' Chelsea using the ball well with Hazard and Mata swapping passes. Monterrey drop deep to plant numbers behind the ball.
    • 28' Monterrey at least having some more joy as they amble up the park. Luiz continues to look a class above the guys he is coming across in this match.
    • 27' Delgado leans back and lifts a shot miles over the Chelsea bar from distance.
    • 26' De Nigris heads over the bar from Jesús Corona's cross. First real threat to Chelsea as Cech comes off his line only to grope at fresh air.
    • 25' De Nigris shaking his head after conceding a foul. The Mexican side yet to manage a shot at goal in the official stats.
    • 24' The small gathering of Chelsea fans can be heard. Not exactly high tempo, but the visiting fans from England and elsewhere must be quite content with how this has worked out so far.
    • 23' César Azpilicueta fouls Basanta after some more decent play by Luiz to play provider. Chelsea cannot fail at the moment to trouble the opposition.
    • 22' Coles decides to have a go with a volley from 35-40 yards. A bit too adventurous as the ball ends up safely in the arms of Orozco.
    • 21' Torres moving well and linking well with Mata as Chelsea continue to flourish in the final third of the pitch.
    • 20' Ivanovic nods over the bar from Mata's delivery. Chelsea a real danger from these dead balls in and around the Mexican side's area.
    • 19' Sergio takes out Hazard and the English side have another free-kick out wide. Dangerous times for Monterrey.
    • 18' Chelsea utterly dominant at the moment as Cech comes off his line to collect a cross ahead of De Nigris.
    • 17' GOAL! Mata thumps the shot low and hard into the net from Cole's pass. His fourth goal in four games. Lovely backheel from Oscar.
    • 16' The Di Matteo song gets an airing. As you expect. Chelsea continue to push forward.
    • 15' Oscar just failing to place the pass into the path of Torres. Some nice passing stuff from the English side.
    • 14' Ivanovic clips a volley narrowly wide from Mata's corner. Chelsea building towards a goal here.
    • 13' Meza forced to bundle the ball wide for a corner after almost losing the ball under pressure from Oscar. Monterrey all over the place at the back.
    • 12' Cahill heads the first corner back out for another corner before Ivanovic clears the danger from the second Delgado corner.
    • 11' César Delgado sees a shot deflect wide and Chelsea will have to defend a corner here.
    • 10' Oscar's control lets him down from a Hazard cross before Monterrey clear the danger. More super play.
    • 9' Monterrey keeping the ball at the back. Luiz has started this match in superb form. Can't seem to fail to pick out a pass as Torres' control eludes him from a lovely Luiz pass.
    • 8' Jesús De Nigris on the run for the Mexican side. Shot comes off the foot of Ivanovic and lands safely in the hands of Cech.
    • 7' Super pass from Luiz to pick out Hazard, but he slips the ball wide with just Jonathan Orozco to beat. Chelsea should be ahead with that chance.
    • 6' Torres trying to barge through the middle. Can't really control the loose ball, and Jonathan Orozco clears the danger.
    • 5' 20,000 fans watching Corinthians yesterday. Feels like 2,000 watching this one. Plenty of room to relex in this vast arena.
    • 4' Luiz shows why he is a threat in midfield as he lifts a shot a couple of yards over from distance. Lovely lay-off by Oscar.
    • 3' Chelsea lost 4-1 to Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup final, but will be hoping for better fortunes in this tournament.
    • 2' Mata tries to get the ball into the feet of Oscar. Chavez clears before Torres nods wide of the Monterrey goal. Decent start then by Chelsea.
    • 1' Monterrey get this one off and running wearing fairly riveting orange shirts.
    • 10:25 Teams out on the pitch. Not exactly a full house in for this one. Playing in the venue where Brazil overcame Germany in the 2002 World Cup final. Difficult to believe that is a decade ago.
    • 10:20 This is how Chelsea earned the right to play for the Club World Cup. In case it had slipped your mind. Chelsea win Champions League on penalties
    • 10:15 The referee for this morning's match is Carlos Vera of Ecuador.
    • 10:10 Vucetich has a strong track record with the various Mexican clubs he has managed. The veteran tactician, who has lost only one title-decider at national level – against Santos Laguna in the 2012 Clausura – has won his 12 titles with seven different teams, while five of those have come with Monterrey.
    • 10:05 According to FIFA: "Monterrey have a marked advantage in knowing what to expect in December. Victor Manuel Vucetich’s side are not only familiar with the competition’s environment, but they will line up with the same nucleus of players as 2011. They lost their first game to Kashiwa Reysol on penalties. As for the team itself, the leadership of Humberto Suazo up front will again be vital, with the Chilean widely regarded as the most influential player in this year’s CONCACAF Champions League."

    • 09:55 “Sure, we are probably favourites, but to me ‘favourite’ means nothing,” says Chelsea's Spain striker Fernando Torres. “The only thing it can add is more pressure for you. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you're favourite or not, you have to prove it on the pitch.”
    • 09:50 Monterrey are expected to deploy a 4-3-3 formation. Here is their team for this morning: Perez, Mier, Basanta, Chavez; Ayovi, Meza, Cardozo; Corona, De Nigris, Delgado..subs: Dautt, Ibarra, Garcia, Osorio, Lopez, Moreno, Morales, Madrigal, Carreno, Solis

  2. Recuerdo J. Mata, a joyful evening under the blue sky with 3 promising roses. Though thrilling, overcoming a mediocre challenge does mean championship, Chelsea is still on the beginning of it's way.

  3. Football this days hs changed, is no more the time one club will be winning and winning and it will look just as if the other clubs don,t train or hv trainers. Chelsea won it last yr cause they really worked for it, for the fact that they never finished well in the league but they proved everyone wronge and took the trophy home, that was for there strong determination and they were being payed for that. So my Chelsea even if is a bit hard now to get to settle donw with the new coach, u guys will settle verysoon and play just cool football. i wish u guys good luck on ur final match on sunday, prove to the world that u r still the blues for life.
