Germany kick off, and they will attack from left to right in the first half.- 19:44 Turkey captain Rustu Recber and German counterpart Michael Ballack read out anti-racism messages, which are respectfully received by both sets of fans.
- 19:42 Our referee tonight is Massimo Busacca of Switzerland and he leads the teams out onto the pitch, which is looking slightly less patchy following its recent re-laying. The teams line up for the national anthems, Germany in white shirts, black shorts and white socks, Turkey in all red.
19:40 It's another beautiful evening here in Basel, with the sun just dipping behind the stadium. There's moisture in the air though, as well as a light wind.- 19:35 So, neutrals, who are you rooting for? Love or hate the Germans, you simply have to admire their resilience and consistency. But then Turkey have really caught the imagination with their run to the last four, and a win for them tonight would rank right up there alongside Greece's escapades in 2004.
- 19:30 Perhaps worryingly for Turkey, Germany have lost just once in five European Championship semi-finals, to the Netherlands in 1988. But then Turkey have been up against it throughout this entire competition, so the statistics and the history probably won't concern them one jot.
- 19:25 FATUOUS STAT: Germany's Bastian Schweinsteiger already has a goal, an assist, a yellow card and a red card to his name in this tournament. The only other player to achieve this feat was Denmark's Klaus Berggreen in 1984. So now you know.
- 19:20 This will be only the second major championship semi-final that Turkey have played, after their 1-0 defeat to eventual champions Brazil at the 2002 World Cup. The Germans, of course, are old hands at this semi-final malarkey. This will be their 16th appearance in a major tournament semi-final, but Turkey can take heart from the fact that Germany have not beaten them in the last three meetings between the sides.
- 19:15 GERMANY TEAM NEWS: Midfielder Torsten Frings returned to training after sustaining a fractured rib in the Portugal game, but he has to make do with a place on the bench as Joachim Loew sticks with the same XI that sent Cristiano Ronaldo and co packing. Lukas Podolski continues to partner Miroslav Klose up front, with Bastian Schweinsteiger on the right of midfield and former Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger on the left.
- 19:10 TURKEY TEAM NEWS: Semih leads the line for the Turks in the absence of Tuncay and Nihat, while former Bury, Brighton and Sheffield United man Colin Kazim-Richards - or Kazim Kazim as he's known in Turkey - starts on the right of midfield. With so many players absent, Turkey coach Fatih Terim is able to name just four players on the substitutes bench.
- 19:05 Turkey have made something of a habit of late comebacks in this tournament, having also come from behind to beat Switzerland and the Czech Republic in the group stage. But they go into this match severely depleted, with Emre Belozoglu, Nihat Kahveci, Servet Cetin and Ugur Boral injured and Emre Asik, Tuncay Sanli, Arda Turan and goalkeeper Volkan Demirel all suspended. Germany, meanwhile, are expected to be at full strength.
