    • FT The final whistle has gone in Astana - Kazakhstan have their first points of the campagin and they deserved it too. Sergei Gridin scored both their goals on his debut. Group A details
    • 68' Gridin has got his second to put Kazakhstan back in front!!! What a dream debut he is having. He was slipped in behind the defence and scored a lovely, slick finish with the outside of the left boot.
    • 63' Azerbaijan are level!!! Vugar Nadyrov has levelled matters up just two minutes after coming on as a sub. A cross came in from the left – the positioning of Kazakh keeper Roman Nesterenko was questionable and Nadyrov was able to round him and fire smartly into the net. Berti Vogts gets a dream response from his substitute.
    • 58' Kazakhstan have the lead!!! Their first goal in these qualifiers….lovely low cross from the left by Sergei Ostapenko and Sergei Gridin slide in with his right foot to steer the ball into the back of the net. Poachers goal from a man who is making his international debut today.
    • 50' Back underway here in Astana - we will let you know if any drama unfolds.
    • HT Half-time in Astana - not great stuff. Kazakhstan have been slightly the better team but Azerbaijan missed the game's best chance.
    • 30' Aliyev has just missed the best chance of the match so far for Azerbaijan – he was clear through on goal and fired it wide. That goal would have been against the run of play had it gone in.
    • 20' The first match is already underway though with Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan facing each other in Group A. No score at the moment and both these sides are at the bottom of the group that contains Germany, Belgium and Turkey. Azerbaijan did beat Turkey last October though so they can play. Kazakhstan have yet to score a goal in qualification.
