Listen Ingo, Podolski may have Polish parents who­ decided to emigrate to Germany and become naturalised­ Germans that still doesn`t mean that their son if he so­ wished wanted to play for Poland because of his Polish­ family heritage couldn`t, he decided to play for­ Germany because there was a better chance of playing­ for a successful club side in Germany and for the­ national team than if he opted to play for Poland. His­ was an economic and career enhancing choice not one­ born out of his parent and their parents historical­ heritage, just like half of the Welsh rugby team were­ born and raised in England but decided to play for the­ Welsh national side because they considered their­ opportunity to play international rugby against some of­ the best players in the world would be enhanced when­ there are fewer clubs and players to select from by the­ principality than if they tried to seek selection from­ the larger availability to selectors in England. Their parents re-migrated to Germany and both­ are Germans since they were born, and always played for­ German selections since thert youth. Even at the time­ of he iron curtain migration was common in Europe. Much­ like British migrated and re-migrated from their­ colonies. Many Scottish, Welsh, English and Nothern­ Irish players over the years were not born in the­ respective part of Britain or in Britain at all.
