IRISH STEW 0 HAMBURGER 1, swally that timmy.

frankie; who says we don't have a sense of humour eh? Jeez , you need to have as a celtic fan! Good chaffing with you.

he was bale to concentrate on winning. in short he brought a winning mentality to the team. TM has been unable to do this and i frimly believe that the game in moscow was not won because the players followed TM's instructions. I think they played their own game and TM did not like it. Look at the results since then, they have been abyssmal. there are too many prima donnas' with caldwell being the biggest. Out come january i hope to the english championship as no epl team would touch him with a barge pole
so, i think we will have to agree to differ on whether he stays or goes, you know my feelings by now, but there may be more than one vacancy at parkhead come january and the backroom staff may have to bring out their italian phrase books especially if the republic lose against france!
Stay tuned as nextweek we solve the arab/israeli conflict and bring peace to the middle east...

i think you are correct regarding some players work ethic. For caldwell to come away with the rubbish he does (both on and off the pitch!) shows a total lack of professionalism and is a major indicator tha he obviously wants to move on. Asking for a ridiculous amount as he has, when he and everyone else knows he isn't worth half of the £9k per week that he is currently earning is simply a " come and get me " plea. the fact that no one has been linked with him speaks volumes about his ability as a centre back. It takes me 4 months to earn what he does in a week, yet he wants more than double what he currently earns...when he stops scoring own goals, conceding schoolboy error penalties and costing us points then maybe a raise could be discussed. Nah, lets be honest here the guy is a dud. I really think he will move on in january, i hope so.
Anyway, work ethic. there is a general lack of confidence at celtic and there is a feeling of melancholy from the players. this brings me back to the points i was making last night, this is down to the manger; its his job to ensure that the players are at their physical and mental peak for games, especially must win games as last nights was, but sadly he failed to produce the goods as did his team. the team is a reflection of the confidence and self belief instiiled by the manager; the team is then an extension of the mangers psyche (oooh, really deep man...), on the evidence of last night, rapid vienna, happoel tel aviv, cska (home), arsenal (home and away), rangers (away) TM does not have what it takes to manage this team.
when GS came to us questions were asked about his abilities due to having managed southampton and coventry, both teams that were struggling in the EPL, rightly so, but he answered those question with the teams he put on the park (atrmedia..oops!). I remember his saying that when he was at those clubs he had to concentrate on not losing and not being relegated, but at celtic he had a chan

I give us 2 more seasons and the league will be irrepairable and in a 3rd world state. The old days of fans coming on and saying "we are good but they are garbage" have gone now. BOTH Old Firm teams are garbage now. 2 More seasons like this and Celtic will be in debt and a sinking ship too.

re: 184, i think officially it is hamburger they are called. Thats what they were down as on the television last night As for the old firm i am a Rangers fan, but that is some sorry state bith Rangers and Celtic are playing at just now. Not really Smith or Mowbrays fault as such, but i think there are to many players playing in there comfort zone for decent money. For Rangers thomson, mendes, naismith, smith, lafferty all decent players on £10k + per week and giving not a whole lot back, for Celtic i would say: brown, caldwell, mcmanus, robson, naylor fall into the same category. I say drop them and let the likes of, mcginn - mccourt, wilson - fleck satrt more games. Anyway rant over for today, good bye

Frankie, some compelling arguments in there and I concur with much of what you say about the demeanour of the players, especially on the pitch. I think we all have had the sense that all is not well in the Celtic dressing room for some considerable time, the spats and grudges are an open secret. I had hoped that things would have improved when Mogga came, because I believe he is a straight talking, no frills, honest type of bloke, but I also believe that the footballers in there know too much about each others' business for it to be a healthy situation and that makes the managers job less about football and more about man management and therefore, at Celtic at least, somewhat of a poisoned chalice; for instance, what does it matter to Caldwell how much anyone else is getting paid? I use Caldwell as an example, but I believe that the problem is endemic in the dressing room. He wants £20,000 a week, because it is 'in line' with what some of the individuals there are getting, what the hell has it to do with Caldwell what anybody else gets paid? To me, that's not the mindset of a footballer who wants to play for the club, but the mindset of a mercenary who wants his pay for just turning up. I don't know in the great scheme of things, if he, or anyone else for that matter, is worth that amount, but until he actually applies himself to the job he's supposed to do without making schoolboy blunders which cost matches, I don't rate his chances of getting it... with anybody, he's just not worth what he thinks he is.
Beckham resume, one peg, can't tackle; yet he's had some of the best jobs on the planet, why? Because he works harder than anyone on the planet with one peg and can't tackle. His final ball is inch perfect and his dead ball skills are superb. He spent thousands of hours, by himself on a training ground, he didn't do it to make money, he did it to be the best at what he does, the money followed Beckham. Consummate P

Part two Lyse!
I also believe that GS is a better manager than MON, look what he achieved wth very little although he did inherit some good players. Both of these mangers had qualities that i just cant see in TM. i know about teams needing time to gel etc, but look at the faces of the current team when they are on the pitch. there is nothing there. there seems to be no grit or determination there. I think TM has already lost the dressing room, really. and any good results or performances are coming about not because of TM but rather in spite of him. I don't think the guy can cut it as celtic boss. We should be running away with the league even at this early stage. GS would have given arsenal a run for their money so much so they would have worried about us coming to the emirates. Given the performances of the other teams in our europa cup group, we would be sitting at the top, but look where we are.
The next obvious question is who would replace him? Considering the republic have WC playoff against france i would suggest trappatoni. he's unlikely to want to stay with the republic for another tournament and given his age, he would be an ideal short term appointment.
These are just my opinions, but i think that they are valid opinions none the less and i wait for your reply.

lyse, my partner and i were flying back from Murcia in april/may of this year dunno exactly which, but it was the weekend of the semi final of the cup. the bhoys had been away for a break in spain and were on their way back when we met them at the airport in Murcia. anyway, every one of those player's faces were as long as great big long things...i reckon that was when GS told them he was quitting. they really did look a dejected bunch of blokes. there was no laughter, joking, banter or any of the other charcteristics that you would expect to see in a team. in fact Boruc went to one end of the airport and the rest of the team were at the other. Strachan wasn't even there and it was left to neil lennon to shepherd them all on the plane. i have the photo's on my facebook page, if you want to have a look we'll sort something out. After that weekend the whole team, and the season, began to implode. that, I believe was the cause of us losing the league last season. i honestly think that's where it all began. their faces say it all.
svh may be at the top of the bundesliga, but they had 8 players out, in essence they were playing their reserves and we could have played till Derek C grew hairs on his sac and still not scored. the buck has to stop with TM. a very difficult decision needs to be made and made soon; either keep TM and quite possibly (probably in my view) end up trophyless or take the plunge and get a replacement in PDQ. I don't take any solace in the fact that the red sea pedestrians gubbed rapid tonight. on the contrary, it shows you how bad celtic really are. Happoel are not a good team, neither are rapid and the fact that matter is that we have taken one point from both games with them it shows how bad we really are. i do agree that GS was much better for celtic than MON. people forget that MON had a great deal of money to spend and he did have henk, sutton, lennon, thomson, hartson etc whereas GS had none. AHM NO FI

What is Celtic doing?????????

wtf is that eurosport??!!!! ,, HUMBURGER!!!!!! ,, adjust it quickly

im Scottish and a Republican, why can derek c not comprehend that? why does he associate Republicanism with Ireland? yes it exists in Ireland, as it does in lot's of other countries, including Scotland, i would like to know what he thinks Republicanism is, that would be interesting to hear from this BNP political giant.

Anyway, I've had my rant, so I'm off to bed.

HaHaHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! Another defeat for the Old Firm! Noone wants them cause they are so @#$%. We want to play in the English Premier!! Grow up and don't make me laugh!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW frankie, why are you paying lip service to that ars-ehole derek c, thumb the barstard down and just ignore his bile, and he'll just disappear.

Frankie, I'm with you in much of what you say about the team wallowing in mediocrity, but I can't honestly throw stones at Mogga. You say that these are the same core players that got to CL last sixteen, and that is indeed true, but they are also the same core players who surrendered the league last year without as much as a whimper; and that was with GS at the helm. Now, we can look for as many scapegoats as there are bad results, but the buck has to stop with mediocre players and non-trying prima donnas who 'think' above their station. I know it's hard to imagine where the improvement will come from, but throwing money at 'new' players at the expense of some of the ones we have could be folly. Think on the comparative success in our recent history, the difference is not that we had a better manager, MON in my book was not that great, but he had possibly the best player we have seen in many a year in Henrik. It wasn't the manager who scored goals, it was a dedicated professional who worked harder than anyone else, and he did it despite having one or two 'numpty' managers. Mogga set his stall out tonight against the team at the top of the Bundesliga, and they aquitted themselves very well, considering the standard that they've been playing at. They had a few gilt-edged chances which should have been taken, but they were narrowly beaten by a great football team. There was no disgrace in that, Celtic have no God given right to win every game, and if they apply themselves the ay they did tonight, they will gel into a cohesive unit who will be able to compete at any level. Just think on, Hapoel scudded Rapid Vienna 5-1 tonight, and everybody thought they were going to be the whipping boys of the group; simply they all try and they all stand or fall together, they are a team, something we're not. Now if there's anything to criticise Mogga for it is that he doesn't make a very good baby sitter, because that's wha

I've had enough of you and your feeble attempts to show that you are my intellectual equal, let alone sperior. Now go away and sow your seeds of ignorance elsewhere. You are an example of what is wrong with this page and this forum in general. I just want to talk about football. Now just go away and take your racist drivel elswhere; i can't be bothered with it.
