A 1-0 victory at the Mestalla sealed a 2-0 aggregate win for Valencia in their Europa League last-32 tie against Stoke. More
90+4' Sorensen catches the delivery... and there's the whistle! Stoke are out, Valencia march on! Let me know what you think of the match on Twitter: @liamhappe
89' Soldado is booked for a free-kick conceded just inside his own half, which is whipped into the danger zone but cleared before the second ball goes out harmlessly for a goal kick.
81' Half-clearance of the corner and Shotton brings down Rami on the left wing to become the fifth Stoke player to enter the book.
78' Woodgate error! Soldado is through! Sorensen makes himself big and saves! Stoke clear!
77' Pennant slips on the second try, a more traditional cross attempt, and it goes out for a goal kick. Jones and Dealbert are exchanging words following a to-do during all of that, and both are given a yellow.
72' Pennant enters the book now for over-protesting a throw-in decision.
68' But now Pablo finds more success down the centre as he's tripped as he enters the 'D' by Huth. That will see the German booked, as well.
65' Arismendi is replaced by Ryan Shotton while Jermaine Pennant comes on for Palacios as Stoke make a double switch of their own.
63' It's Jonas who makes way for Soldado, however, as Adruiz appears to be ok to continue despite what is now a number of bumps and tumbles. Piatti also comes off, and on for him is Sofiane Feghouli.
46' Stoke kick off the second half.
45+2' Woodgate does well to cut out a low centre from Bruno. And there's the whistle. Stoke will feel let down by Jonas' opener, but their objective remains: score two to advance. And on their first half performance, it's not impossible. Follow me on Twitter: @liamhappe
37' Bruno keeps a long ball in on the right-hand Stoke byline and pulls it back for Adruiz! Horrible first-time shot goes well wide.
32' Sorensen almost lets slip of a cross from the right through his own legs, but he recovers before Piatti can punish the error!
30' Diao catches Parejo extremely late inside the centre circle, and that will earn the first yellow card of the second leg.
26' JONES! Tipped over by Guaita! Did well to latch onto Jerome's squared head-on.
24' And that's going to be a bigger talking point now that the hosts are ahead! Straight up the other end of the pitch where Hernandez skins Collins and crosses low from the right to the far post where Jonas opens the scoring!
23' Arismendi embarks on a great run and almost enters the box, but appears to be barged over by a pair of Valencia defenders. No, the referee tells him to get up!
19' Palacios threads Jones through! Fingertips from the keeper put it wide! Corner coming up.
15' Delap fakes another long throw from the right, instead playing it lower to the feet of Fuller who's just inside the area. It goes back short to Delap and his cross meets the head of Jones! Unable to really direct it at goal which allows Guaita to claim.
2' Diao fouls Jonas on the edge of the Stoke 'D' to give the visitors something to defend early on here... and Parejo hits the bar from the set piece!

eka what a tossa del mar

We played well but lack of finishing power let us down and we were a bit naiive to the subtle tactics of a team like Valencia, the diving , squealing and all time low HAIR pulling like girls on Kenwynne. Spanish football is full of talent BUT what a bunch of primadonnas full of histrionics but the referees seem intent on promoting this style of play.
Why the hell was Shotton booked for a perfectly timed tackle???????????
Well done stoke and good luck to get back in next year with more experience.
ps. TP doesnt whinge He is straight and to the point .....No messing

First of all Devilfish you are a complete and utter moron. Stoke needed 2 goals to go through not 3.
Kalaki - If you're a Valencia fan enjoy always and forever being a third rate Spanish team because nothing will ever, ever, ever, ever change in Spanish football. Boring and predictable.
Nice one for the support from other English fans.

Congrats Stoke for making this far. Will look forward to what you can give us next season. All the best.

Pity Jones missed his early chances, but thank goodness we don't have to watch the Valencia histreonics every week, they dived more times tan an Olympic diving competition. As for the referee, his villa in Spain should be safe.

As TP will no doubt say "we can concentrate on the league now!", mind you we have to wait for Liverpool beat Stoke in the FA Cup at Anfield yet.
It's all becoming a bit predictable now. Where the next 3 points will come from is the real question?

o well we got further than some of the fans posting comments on here, i cant wait for the banks to start pulling there debts in when the euro goes tits up, you wont see there owners for dust. the fans will probabley jump ship as well, at least we wont have that problem.!. well done you potters.loud n proud.

o well we got further than some not bad for first time

Madrid, oh dear you sad sad person

stoke need 3 to win , there more chance getting a whale up your ars,,, sideways .

Come on Stoke, from a Millwalll supporter

Comment 48 the cowardly tosser who uses the badge of the great team Real Madrid to hide behind, i live in Spain and i watch a lot of Spanish football in our local bars ie Real Barca Valencia with our Spanish friends and none of them would use the term you have. There is only one piece of Sht on here and thats YOU!!!!

Soldado is in. Stoke is f'd.

go on the stoke!!!!

I think Stoke has played some fine football to get this far. Never mind if they lose at this stage, it's hardly a disgrace to go out to the 3rd best team in Spain - one that has in the recent times had players like David Villa, Juan Mata, David Silva and Alexis Sanchez... and now Roberto Soldado...
