Gabriel Obertan fired his side into pole position in Europa League Group D with the only goal as Newcastle beat Club Brugge 1-0 at St James' Park. More
84' Van Acker on for Blondel
83' Bigirimana sees yellow for his second poor challenge in as many minutes.
80' Cabaye on for Ferguson - solid game for the young player. Cabaye's ability in possession will no doubt help Newcastle control the latter stages of this game.
75' Obertan picks up the ball inside his own half and, driving forward, is pulled back by Odjidja.
71' Collocini on for Sa. Ameobi - the youngster has played well, but had a quiet second-half. His last act was leading a Newcastle break-out before giving up possession in a good attacking position.
59' Tiote booked for a mistimed challenge in his 60th game for the club.
55' Refaelov off Trickovski on in the Brugge midfield.
47' Obertan scores on the break for Newcastle finishing the ball low, across the body of the Brugge keeper.
45' Shola Ameobi on for Anita. Striker for midfielder as Pardew looks for more going forward from his side.
45' Cisse draws a great save from Jorgačević with a powerful drive from 15 yards that looked to be heading for the top corner. The Newcastle striker found some space after Brugge failed to clear an Obertan cross.
31' Going the other way, Ameobi is a one-man break - showing his pace before cutting in onto his left foot and firing low and just wide of teh near post. He had Jorgačević worried.

WOW, the Geordie BIG club increase their crowd to 33,000, must have been Giro day for a few !! What happened to the other 47,000 they were gonna get for their 80,000 stadium??? Still, their is a recession on I suppose ! Hang on Liverpool still had 40,000 ! ish!
I tell you what, im glad the Lads are not in Europe if the best on offer is a dull as dish water game :) Not quite Juventus now is it, and the Barcodes think they are playing European football :)
Last night may not have been a great game, but the team put out did the job. They didn't really have to try hard to get the win and nice to see some of the fringe players getting a run out. Special mention for you Sammy who had a cracking game.
loserpool have fans have like james, says it all really. racist slags all of them.
I can see you're worried JR (are you a Dallas fan?), but the future is LIVERPOOL!!!!!! End of and goodnight.
sammy done well ,if overated wayne rooney had done what sammy done- to make the pass for the goal it would have been world class;
Is this the james show ? the fekkin #$%$ from loserpool all mouth and no pants the team that expects to win but rarely does the team that find it impossible to keep a manager in the seat for more then eighteen months, grow up and stop living in your history its the future you should worry about and if things don't alter you aint got one.
Michael, isn't Cheshire where the Mancs go to get away from Scumchester? Shouldn't you be supporting old blue nose and his pathetic excuse for a team.
Brendan is known and has respect Michael, the world says Pardwho?
alanthack you still call us MIGHTY reds, no one will ever call Geordies mighty
Could not believe team selected. Newcastle were home team, did they not really want to win. However a win is a win, but could be tough away with such a slender lead. Best of luck next time but let us have the FIRST team in action, no disrespect to those who played tonight. Alan May, Derby.
Nobody fears the mighty reds any more not since that reject of a manager ruined your already bad side left by the fat Spanish waiter you are a joke James
Does anyone outside of Geordie slum land give a damn about Newcastle? The mighty REDS are feared throughout the world. One lucky win against a poor side and the Geordies think they are going somewhere.
Lucky win
Note to Yahoo - it is NOT the Sports Direct arena anymore!!!!!!
