Newcastle United were well below their best in a 1-1 draw with Maritimo at St James' Park, but the Magpies still qualified for the last 32 of the Europa League. More
90+3 There's the final whistle - Toon are provisionally through as Bordeaux lead in Brugges, but that match has not yet finished.
90+2 Brigido on the left, loads of space to pick out FIDELIS AT THE FAR POST UNMARKED but he volleys into the ground and wide!!
82' Fidelis has had some impact - but he is offside as he smashes a finish past Krul.
78' GREAT GOAL MARITIMO! Fantastic driving run from the sub Fidelis, who bursts through on the left before smashing a rasping finish through the legs of Krul!
76' NEWCASTLE SUB: Ameobi replaced by Abeid, a young French-Algerian forward.
75' Vital intervention from Salin as a Marveaux cross flew towards the head of a flying Ba!
73' Brigido on for the visitors as Simao - whose deliveries have largely been poor - makes way.
72' The corner drops to FERREIRA ON THE LEFT but his half volley is batted behind by Krul! Corner.
67' Ferreira with a good tackle on Ba, and the Maritimo man is hurt after Ba accidentally kicked him in the face as he went down.
63' Side netting from Dias! Great effort from the edge of the box but Krul was watching it all the way.
60' MARITIMO SUB: Adilson comes off for Fidelis.
59' Sami flies in with a header from a fine cross by Luiz but he sends it well wide. Good chance!
53' Dias with an effort from range that Krul tips over. Decent shot, solid stop.
51' NEWCASTLE SUB: Amalfitano replaces Cisse, not sure if that's tactical or an injury.
46' The second half is underway!
45+1 Cisse pulls out just in time as the keeper reaches a long ball first. Could have been messy. Half-time, Toon 1-0 up through Marveaux's first goal for the club.
40' NEWCASTLE SUB: Ba finally replaces Ben Arfa after getting his kit on.
38' Simpson and Ben Arfa have picked up knocks. Both are getting treatment. Ben Arfa's looks like a thigh strain, worryingly.
37' Cisse is offside as he rolls the ball into an empty net after Bigirimana's fine low drive is batted out by Salin. Replay shows he was half a yard off.
22' GOAL NEWCASTLE! Fantastic solo run and finish by Marveaux, racing in from the right, beating Ferreira for pace and slipping a low finish between the legs of Salin. Ben Arfa with the assist, but it was all the former Rennes winger's work.
3' Santon on the left cuts inside Roberge and unleashes a surprise shot that swerves in front of the keeper but he bats it out and hacked away by the covering defender!
1' The first half is underway!

Newcastle are better than sunderland, and sunderland would be expected to beat maritimo, think about it .
Duncan , what do you expect with "Chris the SMB Waddle "commentating ...he has nothing good to say about the Toon
The only way joseph and his sad makem barstewards will get to go to Europe is if there is a 3rd world war
Well ,well, the mighty magpies scrape a draw v Northern league champs of Madeira, most ot the "quality" players on as well, despite being spurred on by a massive 21,000+ crowd !!!! Well done the Toon !! Ha Ha Ha !!!
What has happened to Newcastle we are becoming an easy touch because no matter how you look at it Maritimo are a second class side we have lost the winning mentality we need to find a resolution quickly or Mr Pardew will not last another 8 months never mind 8 years I did not like the excuses and whinging after the last two home games Last year we were upbeat about every game now we seem to fear every game we should be at least 9 points better off than we are the players are not producing the goods on the field We need a bigger squad to replace those who think they have right to be in the team
Rip off Ashley. Buy some players you micey flake
I think the "Toon" should have done alot better, tonight, but overall we are through to the group stages. That is good new,s. So well done Alan & the team.
Duncan - dunno what you were watching this on, but the commentary was up to date throughout. Perhaps click 'refresh'?
Podolski is a good player m8.
@23 Taylors shocking all the time. Should be showed the door.
What the heck was Taylor doing. Shocking defending
Ha, ha, ha. The last time that girl joseph was in Europe was on a ferry as the deckhand-slapper.
YES 1-0 come on keep it up lads
Come on Newcastle!! I believe in you. Anne x
this commentary up to its usual rubbish standard approx 5 mins behind time(thats when they say anything)
It seems that this site has loads of SMB on tonight. Lets face it, it is the closest they have been to European football for 39 years. Hope you Makems enjoy our Euro journey.
howay the Toon!
get ba on from the start and go for it man
