    Time:90'
    • Germany U21
    • England U21
    • 90+2' The final whistle goes, and Germany are European champions! The scoreline reflects harshly on a depleted England side, but Germany are deserved winners.
    • 90' Schmelzer tries to make his mark on the final with an ambitious shot from the left, but it's an easy collect for Loach.
    • 88' Mesut Ozil gets his own round of applause as he is brought off for Schmelzer, a defender, for the last couple of minutes.
    • 85' Wagner is shown a yellow card for throwing his shirt off while celebrasting, but he won't care much.
    • 84' GOAL!! Sandro Wagner bags his second goal, and Germany's fourth goal of this final, and what a goal it is! England are stretched at the back and once more Wagner has space on the left, this time checking on to his right boot and curling a peach of an effort past Loach! That's a cruel blow for England.
    • 83' Hummels can come off in place of Aogo safe in the knowledge that he's put in a great shift for his team.
    • 80' Craig Gardner comes on for Cranie, but it will be nothing more than a footnote to the main story that Germany have been worthy winners in Malmo this evening.
    • 79' GOAL!! England are still down to 10 men as Ozil breaks forward and finds Wagner on the left. The big striker takes a touch and slips a neat finish through the legs of Loach, and it's curtains for England.
    • 78' The players can take a little breather as Jack Rodwell replaces Fabrice Muamba and Cranie receives some treatment.
    • 76' Gibbs plays a crossfield pass that Boenisch intercpets. Ozil skips the challenge on the wing and fires a ball across the face of goal for WAGNER... The striker slides in but misses from six yards out! How did he miss that?
    • 75' England can break from that corner and Johnson plays a through ball up for Walcott... Hummels slides in to get a touch on the ball that takes it away from Walcott! Hummels has been all over Walcott this evening.
    • 74' Mark Noble brings down Ozil, and Germany have a free-kick on the left. It's aimed to the far post where Richards heads it away.
    • 73' Germany appear to have weathered that storm from England for the time being, and aim to sap the tempo from the game with a bout of keep-ball in midfield.
    • 71' Adam Johnson jinks into the box and goes down under the challenge of Boenisch... No penalty! England will have to make do with a corner, which is wasted. England putting the pressure on the Germans now.
    • 70' Johnson takes a corner for England. Cattermole glances a header towards the far post, but it's cleared on the line by Beck!
    • 69' Germany make a change, bringing off Fabian Johnson for Daniel Schwaab, a defender.
    • 68' Andreas Beck has space on the right inside the England box, but he elects to square the ball instead of shoot and the ball is cleared.
    • 66' Gibbs turns the ball behind for a corner. Germany take it short and Ozil fires into the side netting.
    • 65' richards runs in to get on the end of Cranie's free-kick, but Neuer comes off his line to catch cleanly.
    • 65' Boenisch clears out Milner, and deservedly earns the first booking of this game.
    • 63' Milner gets down to the byline in the box and cuts a ball across the six-yard area for Johnson... His attempted backheel flick is blocked en route to goal! A good spell here for England, but they need to score soon.
    • 61' Nice play across the pitch by England, but Milner#'s ball to Walcott is blocked.
    • 60' This tim the England wall holds firm and they clear the danger.
    • 59' Germany have another free-kick from around the same point they scored they second goal from...
    • 58' Lee Cattemrole has time and space to line up a strike... his effort from distance swerves and clips the top of the crossbar! The Wigan midfielder isn't reknowned for his goalscoring, but that was a decent effort.
    • 58' More tidy play by Muamba, and now Cattermole wins a free-kick. England take it quickly as they try something different other than an aerial route.
    • 55' Walcott miscontrols Cranie's long ball and it goes out of play. The Arsenal man, who has starred for the senior England side at times over the past year, is not enjoying himself this evening.
    • 54' Adam Johnson takes this one, and it's a good whipped delivery that Richards is up for, but a defender flicks it away... The referee gives a goal kick though. Tough break for England there.
    • 53' Milner rolls past Boenisch and draws the foul, so England have another dead ball chance...
    • 52' Milner wriggles free of two Germans on the wing, but the whistle goes for a throw-in as he scampers away with the ball. From that throw, Wagner sends in a cross but it's over Johnson's head.
    • 51' Another long ball forward from England is headed right back at them by Boateng.
    • 50' Milner's trailing arm catches Boenisch on the jaw as they both jump for a header.
    • 49' another set piece from the left for England, but this time even the extra height of Mancienne in the box can't help them work a chance.
    • 48' GOAL!! Mesut Ozil strikes a free-kick from way out, and his swerving shot is right at Scott Loach, but he can't change direction in mid-air and can only get a hand to the ball before it creeps into the net! It's a long way back for England now.
    • 47' Walcott is brought down by Boateng on the left. Milner's ball is knocked back into the six yard box by Johnson, but nobody is on hand to turn the ball in. Germany almost hit with a sucker punch there.
    • 46' Germany kick off to get the second half underway.
    • HT Michael Mancienne will replace Nedum Onuoha for the second half.
    • 45+1' The half-time whistle is blown, and England are losing to a moment of quality from Germany. Otherwise, it's been fairly even.
    • 45' Just the one added minute at the end of the half to be played.
    • 44' The set piece from Germany sails over the pack in the box and curls out for a goal kick.
    • 43' Ozil's strike looks back, but it clips the wall and Germany have a corner.
    • 42' Germany have a free-kick in a promising position, closer than last time, about 25 yards out. Mesut Ozil will strike...
    • 41' Once more Muamba is in the right place to break up the play. He has been one of england's outstanding performers in England's route to the final.
    • 40' Micah Richards intercepts and bursts out of defence. He finds Cattermole, but the retrun pass is not forthcoming and the move breaks down. richards has time to return to his half before Germany can mount an attack.
    • 39' Beck feeds Johnson out on the right, but Muamba is again there to support Gibbs and snuff out the move for now.
    • 38' Ozil is well marshalled by Richards. Cranie's cross goes over everyone, and Milner's return ball is headed out for a throw-in to England.
    • 37' Once again, Germany dominate anything that comes their way in the air.
    • 36' Hummels trips Milner in midfield, and they will send men forward for the set piece...
    • 35' Boenisch lines up a shot and unleashes a vicious strike from the left wing, that flies wide of Loach's far post.
    • 35' nice move forward from Germany, instigated by Boateng coming forward from the back. The move ends with a disappointing cross from Johnson.
    • 33' Walcott tries to burst forward, but once again he is thwarted by Hummels, who has handled the England striker very well thus far.
    • 32' Cattermole finds Gibbs with a little backheel, and it's given to Johnson who will strike, but he doesn't trouble Neuer.
    • 31' England have had 59% of the possession in this opening half-hour.
    • 30' Gibbs blocks a ball to Beck on the wing. From the throw-in, Beck shanks his cross into the stands behind Loach's goal.
    • 29' England seeing a lot of the ball, but once more struggling to find a way through the midfield.
    • 28' Mark Noble turns well in midfield, but his ball forward for Milner is overhit and it's out for a goal kick.
    • 27' Milner bursts into the box, but Boateng reacts quickly to get in front and block his progress.
    • 26' Muamba keeps things tidy and the ball works its way out to Milner. The Villa winger whips a low ball across the face of goal, but Walcott was not within range.
    • 25' How can England respond to this? The only other time they have been behind in Sweden was after Castro's other goal in Halmstad.
    • 24' Credit to Ozil - his through ball was perfectly weighted to give Castro a simple finish.
    • 23' GOAL!! Germany take the lead, and it's Gonzalo Castro again! The man who scored against England last week latches on to a Ozil through ball and rolls the ball past Loach and into the net!
    • 22' Germany starting to enjoy a bit more posssession in midfield now.
    • 21' Remember the Germans have only conceded one goal in the tournament thus far - that was Jack Rodwell's header in Halmstad.
    • 20' Theo Walcott has his first chance to head for goal through the middle, and it takes a well-times toe poke from Hummels to dispossess him.
    • 19' Cranie fires in a long ball and Hummels has to flick it behind for a corner. The set piece is easily cleared by Germany.
    • 18' Cattermole tries another ball down the channel for Walcott to chase, but Boenisch has too much of a headstart on him.
    • 17' The referee rather generously gives Walcott a foul after a good tackle on the left wing from Hummels. Milner will deliver... his ball curls over to the far post but it ends up going over everybody and out for a goal kick.
    • 16' Onuoha heads the corner away and the chance goes for Germany.
    • 16' Ozil feeds Khedira, who has space in the area where Gibbs would have been. He cuts a ball back across the area but the shot is blocked for a corner.
    • 15' Gibbs picks up a knock after tangling with Wagner. Play will continue as he is treated off the pitch.
    • 14' Adam Johnson has been pinned back in the left wing by his namesake, Fabian.
    • 13' Walcott chases an errant chp forward and keeps it in play. He then skips the challenge in the area, but the momentum fizzles out as he looks for the pass out to the wing.
    • 12' Noble battles down the left wing, but Hummels is there with him to force the goal kick.
    • 11' It will be Boenisch who strikes... low and into the wall. England clear, but Walcott is thwarted as he tries to latch on to the clearance.
    • 10' Muamba handballs in the air as the ball is headed for Castro. The free-kick is from some distance, just about striking range...
    • 9' The well-organised Germans are keeping England playing in front of the midfield, and they will take some unlocking.
    • 8' The tempo has dropped off since the opening couple of minutes. Both sides are just feeling each other out at the moment.
    • 7' Hoewedes fouls in midfield and England take the free-kick quickly. They lose it with some sloppy play but Muamba saves the break with a great sliding tackle on Castro.
    • 6' England struggling to win much in the air in midfield.
    • 5' Hummels fancies a dig from distance... His shot sails well over Scott Loach's goal.
    • 4' Jerome Boateng sprays a ball out for Boenisch to chase, but it's too long for the left-back.
    • 3' Cattermole slips Walcott through, and the Arsenal player is forced wide before he can get a decent shot away, swiping his effort wide.
    • 3' These two sides met in their final group match last week. On that occasion they drew 1-1, England already through and Germany needing just a point to qualify.
    • 2' Johnson has won a free-kick on the wing. Milner fires it to the far post for Martin Cranie, who heads it wide. Bright start from England.
    • 1' Adam Johnson swings in a cross from the left, but it's just too high for Lee Cattermole to get a header on.
    • 1' England kick off to get the action in Malmo underway!
    • - The two sides are coming out on to the pitch now. We'll be underway as soon as the anthems are belted out.
    • - The closing ceremony is going on now. The standard fare consisting of lots of children running around in sci fi-style gear. Now Karen DeBerg is out on the pitch performing the official song 'Get up and go!'. Perhaps she could take some of her own advice.
    • - This could potentially be a great night for British sport, or a disastrous one. Andy Murray is the other Brit in major action this evening, and you can follow his progress here: Murray v Wawrinka LIVE
    • - Like England tonight, the Germans have played much of this tournament without an out-and-out striker, but Sandro Wagner of German second tier outfit Duisburg starts up front this evening. At 6"4', he'll be a handful for Micah Richards and Nedum Onuoha. He'll be supported by Mesut Ozil, perhaps the most skillful player on the pitch this evening.
    • - Theo Walcott will lead the atack for Stuart Pearce's side. Up front is the position the Arsenal man sees himself filling regularly one day - this will be a big test of his credentials against a strong German defence. Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach pips Joe Lewis to a starting place in goal.
    • - England are without three key players for this crucial clash in Malmo. Goalkeeper Joe Hart, the hero of the semi-final shootout win over Sweden, and strike duo Gabriel Agbonlahor and Fraizer Campbell are all suspended.
    • - England U21: Loach, Cranie, Richards, Onuoha, Gibbs, Cattermole, Muamba, Noble, Milner, Walcott, Johnson. Subs: Lewis, Taylor, Stearman, Gardner, Rodwell, Tomkins, Mancienne, Driver, Rose
    • - Germany U21: Neuer, Beck, Howedes, Boateng, Boenisch, Hummels, Johnson, Castro, Khedira, Ozil, Wagner. Subs: Fromlowitz, Aogo, Ebert, Marin, Schwaab, Grote, Adlung, Ben-Hatira, Schmelzer, Ede, Sippel
    • - England are just one match away from claiming their first major trophy in 25 years, since the last time they picked up the European U21 crown in 1984.
  • Summary

    • 84' GOAL!! Sandro Wagner bags his second goal, and Germany's fourth goal of this final, and what a goal it is!
