    • 90+4 CHELSEA ARE THE 2008/09 FA CUP CHAMPIONS!!! Hiddink's men win their first trophy for two years courtesy of a dominant performance against Everton. Thanks for joining me!
    • 90+3 Baines goes in the book for a clumsy lunge.
    • 90+1 Anelka is sent clean through by Lampard, by his lob goes over Howard and over the bar.
    • 89' Cahill tries one from a long way out, but it soars over the bar.
    • 86' Everton are running out of time at Wembley and to be honest they have not looked like scoring in this second period.
    • 84' Lampard goes over Pienaar's leg in the box...and gets booked for diving.
    • 82' Dan Gosling, the man who scored the winner against Liverpool in the fourth round, is on to replace Leon Osman.
    • 80' Everton are throwing bodies forward now and leaving huge holes at the back. This game could well offer up another goal yet.
    • 78' MALOUDA!!! What a hit from the Frenchman, whose shot rattles against the underside of the bar and back out. Howard gratefully gathers.
    • 76' Moyes makes another change. Saha is replaced by young striker James Vaughan.
    • 75' Brilliant football from Chelsea. Cole keeps the ball in on the left and plays in Lampard, who slides a pass into Malouda...but he shoots over!!
    • 74' Everton are immediately on the attack. They have just over 15 minutes to find an equaliser to Lampard's stunning strike.
    • 72' GOAL!!! LAMPARD TURNS NEVILLE AND SHOOTS LEFT-FOOTED PAST HOWARD FROM 20 YARDS INTO THE TOP CORNER!! WHat a goal from the England midfielder!!!
    • 70' Malouda again down the left. He fires over a cross and it smashes into Drogba - who knows little about it - and goes just wide. Great ball from Malouda.
    • 68' Malouda gets forward and clips a ball into the box, but Howard comes to take easily.
    • 67' Everton take it short. Baines has time to cross from the left and SAHA'S FREE HEADER IS OVER THE BAR FROM 10 YARDS!! What a chance for Everton!
    • 66' Ballack trips Pienaar and Everton have a free-kick just inside the Chelsea half.
    • 64' Pienaar's cross is comfortably gathered by Cech.
    • 63' Mikel goes through the back of Saha and deservedly goes in the book.
    • 62' Cahill shrugs off the challenge of Terry and fires a 30-yarder straight into the arms of Cech.
    • 61 Essian is replaced by Ballack for Chelsea.
    • 59' Malouda releases Anelka, who outsprints Yobo and lifts the ball over Howard...and OVER THE BAR!!
    • 58' Saha gets hold on the loose ball and pulls the trigger from 20 yards under pressure. High and wide.
    • 56' Michael Ballack is warming up for Chelsea.
    • 55' Alex is under pressure from Saha, but he manages to hook clumsily clear. The Chelsea defender has looked far from confident this afternoon.
    • 53' Chelsea are still dominating possession. Everton have yet to mount an attack in the second half.
    • 51' Match image: Drogba heads Chelsea's equaliser
    • 50' Scrappy start to the second half. The pace is still frenetic, the temperature still rising.
    • 48' Neville goes in the book for a foul on Essien. Everton clear the resultant free-kick.
    • 47' Hibbert was clearly struggling on the right flank against Malouda and David Moyes thought it too much of a risk to leave him on the field - especially with a yellow card to his name.
    • 46' Away we go with the second half and Everton have made a change. Lars Jacobsen replaces Tony Hibbert.
    • 45+2' Terry strides forward in possession, but the referee curtails his fun by blowing for half-time. Back in 15!
    • 45' Baines swings over a harmless free-kick, but Cech fluffs his lines and concedes a corner.
    • 44' Cole gets in behind Hibbert on the left. He runs on goal but blasts over the bar from a tight angle.
    • 43' Neville gives the ball away to Drogba, but tracks his man back and wins it back. Drogba goes down in a heap. He's ok.
    • 41' Hibbert is working very hard on the right flank, overlapping at every opportunity.
    • 40' Lovely skills from Fellaini in midfield, who jinks away from a couple of challenges and sweeps a pass forward.
    • 39' The temperature is a remarkable 41C. That's pretty hot hot hot.
    • 38' Lampard plays in Anelka, but Pienaar leans into the Frenchman with a shoulder and the ball runs behind for a goal kick.
    • 37' Match image: Everton fans get behind their team at Wembley
    • 36' Saha almost gets in behind Terry, but he can't quite hook the ball into his stride. Everton are beginning to fight back.
    • 34' Saha drives forward and sends a ball over the top into the path of Cahill...Cech comes and JUST GETS THERE FIRST.
    • 32' Malouda again in space on the left. He chips over a cross, but Baines clears.
    • 31' Anelka plays a superb crossfield pass to find Malouda, who cuts inside and shoots. His low effort is just past the post.
    • 29' Fellaini leaps to win a header, but he's isolated up front and the ball is easily dealt with by Chelsea.
    • 28' Chelsea are camped in the Everton half.
    • 27' Match image: Saha celebrates putting Everton ahead
    • 26' SHOCKING TACKLE FROM ESSIEN! He goes right through Fellaini and is VERY LUCKY to escape a yellow, or even red card.
    • 25' Cahill goes in hard on Anelka and gets the ball, but the referee gives a free-kick.
    • 23' Lampard has time to set himself up and fizzes one just over the bar from 25 yards.
    • 22' You have to say Chelsea deserve to be level. Since going behind they've been dominant.
    • 21' GOOOOAAAALLL!!! Anelka drifts across from right to left and finds Malouda, who centres for DROGBA TO HEAD EMPHATICALLY PAST HOWARD FROM 10 YARDS!!! Chelsea are level!!
    • 19' Lampard gets on the ball for Chelsea. He plays a pass out to Malouda, who whips in a cross. Cahill eventually clears for Everton.
    • 18' Terry with a sloppy ball forward, which runs out for a throw.
    • 17' The early goal has set this one up beautifully. Chelsea will really need to press now, leaving them vulnerable for the counter.
    • 16' The pace is still frenetic. Pienaar is doing the work of six or seven mere mortals right now.
    • 15' Pienaar with a lovely ball over the top towards Fellaini, but the big-haired one can't quite reach it.
    • 13' Drogba with some persistent work on the left. The ball comes back to ESSIEN ON THE EDGE OF THE PENALTY AREA...but his shot flies over the bar.
    • 12' Drogba tries to play in Cole on the edge of the box, but the England full-back is rightly ruled offside.
    • 11' Mikel with a fine interception to thwart Fellaini. The midfielder drives forward.
    • 9' Chelsea are starting really press now. Howard and Lescott have a communication breakdown and a throw is needlessly conceded.
    • 7' Hibbert is booked for a foul midway inside the Everton half. Lampard takes the free-kick, but he wastes it, sending it behind for a goal kick.
    • 4' Now it's Chelsea on the attack. What a cracking start to the match. The Blues win a corner on their right.
    • 3' Chelsea look shell-shocked. Alex passes the ball back to Cech nervously.
    • 2' Unbelievable stuff. Saha's strike came with just 25 seconds on the clock, making it the second fastest Cup final goal in history.
    • 1' GOOOOOAAAALLLL!!!!!! Pienaar with a ball in from the left, Fellaini wins a header and the ball drops to SAHA...WHO VOLLEYS FIRST-TIME PAST PETR CECH FROM 15 YARDS TO GIVE EVERTON A SENSATIONAL LEAD!!!!

  3. I am an Everton fan - so I'm very dissappointed with the result. Congratulations to Chelsea. I'm proud that Everton made it so far against some of the top teams, despite the problems with injuries, etc. I'm sure the Chelsea fans are equally as proud of their team. We've finished 5th in the table, and made it to this final, despite being a 'small' team, which is an achievement that shouldn't be overlooked. Again congratulations to Chelsea, and I hope we can meet again in the same tournament, for a rematch! It would be nice if people didn't take cheap shots at the two teams...Ah well, I can live in hope...

Thats right Lucas. Our russian puppets did a fine job. Everton has only 1 manager and he has been with the club for over a year! Next season I think we should try and get through ten!

  11. STEPHANIE R, dont forget chelsea also missed Carvalho, the main defender of Chelsea, and Joe Cole, the main winger. Were they played, you would understand how strong chelsea are. Are you proud to score against chelsea? Look closely, chelsea should've won 3-0. the first goal was pretty much offside, and malouda's shot were pretty much a goal, another bad judgments for referee against chelsea. But fortunately they were not jeopardized this time. About your achievements against Man U, look at your table standings, Where is Everton? It's not about beating one big club, but winning against all of them. You were proud to beat 2nd team of United in FA Cup (oh and it was penalty kick), but you managed to miss points against mediocre and bottom teams.

  18. well well well, seems english referees and linesman are quite blind! What a goal by Malouda, and denied by the blind bats! But it's good to see, after what the english said when the norwegian ref gave some decisions against chelsea in the champions league semi. I bet not much will be said about it, just wish everton had equalised 2-2 and then it would have brrn interesting if chelsea had lost!! Perhaps english referees are as human as the rest of us! lol. :))

  19. Quite enjoyed the game this afternoon - Chelsea were by far the better team and deserved their victory. Well done to Everton for reaching the Final - they tried hard, but they are so limited and so predictable.

The heat of the afternoon effectively ended Everton's chances of winning - their hustle-bustle, physical, kick-and-rush style was just not possible, as they wouldn't have been able to come out for the second half. Kudos to Chelsea - they knew that Everton wouldn't be able to play the physical stuff in the heat, and just played neat passing football. Sadly, Everton had no answer to the passing game and just looked woefully short of ideas.

But considering their less-than-Championship budget and their team of journeymen and young hopefuls, I thought they deserved some praise for their achievments this season.

From Mary, on Sat 30 May 9:01PM
  20. Congratulation to Chelsea, cos winning the FA Cup. But, beware. MU, Arsenal and Liverpool will be you're nightmare next season when Guus Hiddink out from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea should do a lot of practice to beat the best 3 in EPL. But, thanks to Guus, cos bring back Chealse from the darkside(Scolari). Everton have done well. They have been beaten in a dramatic match. Nevermind, you have played with everything that your have. Try next season. Chealse and Everton, rules.
