    • 120+2 And that's the final whistle! Everton are through! They face Villa in the next round as the problems mount up for Liverpool! Thanks for joining us tonight, especially if you stayed for the full 120 minutes!
    • 120' Gosling cleverly wins a throw in the left corner as Everton wind the seconds down...
    • 119' Liverpool surge forward but Gosling is back defending to clear.
    • 118' Everton break down the right, it's Van der Meyde and he crosses deep for Gosling, who takes it down, takes one touch, then another, they're closing him down but cool as you like he clips it to the right AND IT TAKES A DEFLECTION OFF SKRTEL AND SPINS INTO THE TOP RIGHT FOR 1-0! GOSLING HAS SURELY WON IT FOR EVERTON! What drama and the teenager from Devon cannot believe it!
    • 117' Van der Meyde goes down holding his face after it is lightly brushed by Babel. Get up man, you're too old for that.
    • 115' Alonso takes the corner and it's a great one across the face of goal but a superb defensive header from Jagielka, flicked behind for another corner on the right this time.
    • 114' Alonso swings a free kick far post which Benayoun will struggle to reach, but he somehow wins a corner although Everton are convinced it was a free kick.
    • 113' A promising Everton move is well defended and Hibbert is late on Carragher, yellow card.
    • 112' Arteta plays it in to Osman, who has a shot but the curler is straight at Reina.
    • 110' Alonso to swing it in from the right but again he overhits the delivery and Hibbert can bring it clear.
    • 109' Wiley just has a word with Lescott for a foul on Babel, free-kick Liverpool on the right as Babel gives them renewed vigour.
    • 106' EVERTON SUB: Van der Meyde on for Neville.
    • 105+1 Half-time in extra-time, still goalless but Everton are bossing it now.
    • 105' Arteta sends it to the left of the wall and it takes a deflection to go just wide of the post with Reina stranded!
    • 104' Alonso with a poor tackle on Rodwell, free-kick to Everton around 30 yards out...
    • 103' Kuyt helps Alonso's corner into the six-yard box but it's back safe with Howard.
    • 102' LIVERPOOL SUB: Babel is fresh and on for Torres and almost gets in behind Jagielka with his first touch. Corner.
    • 101' Gosling gets in on the right again but Carragher blocks for a throw. Taken quickly for Arteta, now Osman plays it wide to Hibbert who is in but too close to the byline so he clips it high far post but no-one can get there!
    • 99' The corner is swung over by Arteta AND CAHILL SOMEHOW RISES ABOVE THREE LIVERPOOL DEFENDERS TO FLICK A HEADER INCHES WIDE! How did he get up that high? He's not even six foot but was about 12 inches above Carragher and Skrtel!
    • 97' Baines on the ball, it's inside with Hibbert, now Osman who drives low for the bottom right but a superb save from Reina AND GOSLING MUST FINISH BUT A BRILLIANT BRAVE STOP BY REINA! Corner!
    • 95' Baines is now operating as a winger of sorts with Everton playing three at the back, with Hibbert dropping slightly deeper.
    • 93' Free-kick to Everton, Arteta turns it to Neville, good play to find Osman who spins and shoots but low and straight at Reina.
    • 92' Almost a chance for Everton with the ball played across the face of goal but Carragher holds Cahill off and it's out for a goal kick.
    • 91' The first period of extra-time is underway!
    • 90+5 Liverpool half clear this one but still an Everton throw on the left, Gosling throws, it's in the box for CAHILL but Carragher heads it up in the air and Cahill tries a bicycle kick but Carragher blocks and that's the whistle! Goalless in normal time, so another half hour it it!
    • 90+4 Arteta plays it wide to Gosling who wins a corner on the right. The dying seconds as Arteta goes over to take...
    • 90+2 This is a good spell of late pressure for 10-man Liverpool but Everton eventually clear.
    • 90+1 Corner to Liverpool on the right which Alonso takes but Lescott meets with a powerful header for another corner.
    • 90' Poor delivery from Arteta though, straight at Reina.
    • 89' Free-kick to Everton around 35 yards out after an Alonso foul...
    • 86' Osman with a good run into space on the left and he drills it low across goal but hacked clear! Torres and Neville clash in the middle of the park but the ref waves play on. Liverpool are kicking off because they want Everton to kick the ball out of play but a. there is no head injury and b. it's the ref's decision. Maybe they need to be schooled in the rules? Torres is fine anyway, well he's vaguely limping but there's no blood.
    • 84' Baines gets in space on the left and swings a cross over but too long for Gosling.
    • 83' Taken short and Arteta drives it in and CAHILL IS FREE but Kuyt gets in ahead of him and Liverpool clear this time!
    • 82' A corner to Everton after Arbeloa plays it out.
    • 81' Skrtel puts it out for a throw after Baines and Lescott put some pressure on down the left.
    • 80' LIVERPOOL SUB: An unsurprisingly defensive change from Rafael Benitez, Mascherano on for Riera.
    • 79' Everton are in control now, Liverpool are camped in their last third while the hosts set the pace of the passing.
    • 76' Lucas is late and clumsy on Lescott and Alan Wiley shows him a second yellow! Things go from bad to worse for Liverpool, first Gerrard injured and now this.
    • 75' Jagielka shows how much he has Torres in his pocket when he turns him twice in his own box after being played into trouble.
    • 72' Arteta is booked now.
    • 70' Everton swarm forward on the break, great play by Arteta to close down Alonso, then Cahill with a dummy AND OSMAN MUST FINISH BUT HE RATTLES IT OFF THE POST! Best chance of the match.
    • 68' Liverpool attack down the left now, Dossena into Torres who has space but can't get the shot away! He wanted one too many touches and again it comes into Torres, from the right this time, and again he can't control it! He's not looking too happy tonight.
    • 67' Everton come forward, Cahill holds off Carragher and slips it into Gosling but his shot is weak.
    • 65' A lull in this entertaining but chance-light game.
    • 63' Liverpool press and press but cannot get the shot away, first Riera, then Alonso, then Benayoun and then Lucas. Everton are defending manfully but their midfield has gone missing. I would point to the introduction of inexperienced youngsters Gosling and Rodwell, who possibly can't get to grips with the pressure of this occasion.
    • 62' Jagielka with a rare mistake gives it away, Alonso plays a brilliant through ball AND RIERA IS THROUGH BUT A BRILLIANT DIVING BLOCK BY HOWARD! Corner to Liverpool. Great keeping, way to hustle, go team etc.
    • 60' EVERTON SUB: Youngster Jack Rodwell comes on for Steven Pienaar.
    • 58' Alonso sends the free-kick to the far post where Torres rises unmarked to head across goal but the whistle goes, it went out first.
    • 57' Dossena with another good run down the left but again the cross is poor and put away by Everton. Liverpool now have a free-kick on the right...
    • 56' The ball drops to Cahill 30 yards out and he volleys on the turn but well wide, although Reina slipped and wouldn't have got to it had the shot been on target! Clever thinking by Cahill but he didn't quite get the execution right.
    • 54' Hibbert comes forward again and puts in a high cross that is deflected off Dossena and loops to the far post, where Reina claims easily.
    • 52' Skrtel gets dizzy as he surges towards the Everton box to play Benayoun in on the right. His low cross is blocked though, and eventually Everton have the throw.
    • 51' Benayoun with a ball down the right but Jagielka has Torres in his pocket holding him off, and bringing it away while the Spaniard crumples to the floor in a heap. Torres looks a bit sluggish today.
    • 50' Lucas is the first Liverpool player to be booked tonight.
    • 49' Fellaini penalised for challenging a bit too aggressively in the air.
    • 48' Very late by Neville on Alonso, yellow card. Alonso doesn't half make a meal of any contact though, leaping up in the air like an excited salmon.
    • 47' Supporters are throwing missiles on to the pitch but they are harmless ones - indeed, one looks like a mitten. Bizarre.
    • 46' Second half underway!
    • 45+3 Half-time, goalless in the Merseyside derby vsn. 4.
    • 45+2 Xabi Alsono takes the corner and it's headed clear by Pienaar, who is struggling with what also seems to be a hamstring problem.
    • 45+1 Dossena with a good run into the corner, and he wins a corner.
    • 45' Benayoun through the middle, wide left to Riera who flashes a dangerous ball across goal but half-cleared, Kuyt flicks it up and it hits Lescott, he claims a penalty but no way Jose.
    • 44' Benayoun in a central position, he knocks the ball wide and tries the cross but Baines blocks for a throw.
    • 43' Pienaar with a late, unnecessary stamp on the top of Lucas's foot and he is very lucky not to walk! That was a horrible tackle.
    • 42' Skrtel is very angry with Fellaini after the Belgian kicks the back of his heels. Surprisingly no card, another world from Wiley, nothing more.
    • 41' Torres labours somewhat as he chases the ball into the right. He's not really match fit but is being made to play every game. They should give Robbie Keane a run out. Oh, hang on...
    • 40' An extended spell of Liverpool pressure sees a terrible cross from Dossena fly well over the bar for a goal kick.
    • 38' Fellaini is struggling tonight, playing as a support striker, possibly on account of Lucas lying fairly deep and Carragher and Skrtel being fairly brutal in their treatment of him.
    • 35' Dossena comes forward but can't ride the challenge of Arteta, looked like a foul to me but play on and Everton attack again.
    • 34' Everton with some good pressure and Arteta has a crack from the edge of the box but it's blocked by Arbeloa and Liverpool clear.
    • 32' Kuyt comes forward on the break, he has options with Riera and Torres but they both stray offside so he shoots and it's blocked and back with Howard.
    • 29' Everton attack, into the box and headed across by Osman to Cahill, he has it back to goal but he can't turn past the home defence, who are back in numbers, Cahill tumbles as he attempts a shot but no foul, now Baines gets it, Lucas challenges but he misses the ball and Baines hits the deck but the final result is a corner. Looked like a foul.
    • 28' Liverpool have a free-kick on the left after Neville fouled Dossena... Shocking free-kick from Alonso, aimed far post but almost went out for a throw.
    • 27' Osman comes forward on the right, he cuts inside and drills it on goal but blocked and cleared!
    • 26' Stevie-G injury update: hamstring tweak. Technical. A couple of weeks at most.
    • 25' Liverpool clear the free-kick but the loose ball is hoofed forward again from halfway and Cahill flicks it on for OSMAN WITH A VOLLEY but it dips just over!!
    • 24' Kuyt fouls Neville on Everton's left, Arteta to take the free-kick...
    • 23' Hibbert on the right, he swings a testing cross over that Reina flies across to punch clear and Benayoun hacks it away!
    • 21' There's a bit of needle in this game now, both sets of players are getting pretty aggressive, which is nice.
    • 19' After a stern chat a yellow is shown to Cahill, which is the right decision. Carragher to be fair tried to pull his team-mates away and made no fuss at all, and shakes Cahill's hand afterwards.
    • 18' Liverpool are kicking off after Cahill appeared to use a forearm. Actually this is out of order from Liverpool as Carragher is fine, although there was an elbow. Let the ref deal with it.
    • 17' LIVERPOOL SUB: The Everton fans are cheering like they've won something, Gerrard limps off for Benayoun.
    • 16' Gerrard is going to come off soon, he's handed the armband to Carragher. Oh dear. This is not what Liverpool need at this time of the season.
    • 15' Gerrard is struggling, his left thigh it seems... Will Benitez risk playing him on? He is capable to winning games on one leg.
    • 13' Kuyt puts it quickly into Torres and Lescott misses his run and he can turn but Jagielka is across and it's hacked clear for a throw. Error from Lescott but great from Jagielka.
    • 12' Alonso tries an ambitious pass looking for Torres but much to the home support's delight it rolls harmlessly back to Howard.
    • 11' Ball over the top almost frees Fellaini but it bounces conveniently into Reina's arms.
    • 9' Torres almost gets on to Riera's low cross but it bounces off him and Kuyt could be in here but Lescott is right up his back and Everton clear.
    • 7' ... Still with Liverpool, it comes in from the right and Pienaar heads clear BUT ONLY TO ALONSO WHO HAMMERS IN A LOW VOLLEY THAT FLASHES JUST WIDE! Howard is furious that no-one closed down long-shot specialist Alonso.
    • 6' Another set piece to the Reds on the right but headed clear by Baines...
    • 5' Gerrard swings it in but Fellaini wins a free kick for the Toffees.
    • 4' Dossena gets down the left and as he passes the ball down the line to Riera, Osman clatters late into him and Liverpool have a free-kick which Gerrard will take.
    • 3' Kuyt with a poor first touch when he got it on the right, throw in to Everton who have seen more of the ball so far.
    • 2' The ball has been up in the air for the opening exchanges, a typically frantic start to one of the biggest rivalries in world football.
    • 1' MATCH UNDERWAY AT GOODISON! Yet another Merseyside derby is underway.
    • - A delay in kick off which has not yet been explained... Hopefully it won't be too long.
    • - LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS: No major surprises for Liverpool, although Dossena gets a rare start at left-back ahead of Fabio Aurelio. Dan Agger misses out as Carragher and Skrtel continue their formidable central defensive partnership with Arbeloa continuing at right-back. Javier Mascherano is the midfielder to lose out with Lucas joining Alonso in doing the donkey work behind Gerrard.
    • - EVERTON TEAM NEWS: Victor Anichebe does not even make the bench after his alleged training-ground bust-up with boss David Moyes, with Tim Cahill continuing up front with support but Marouane Fellaini.

And what a future with the likes of Gosling, Baines,Osman, Hibbert and Rodwell to come into the team alongside Jags, Lescott and Tim C. James Vaughan to come back soon. With the exception of Baines, ALL these players were either signed from Fizzy pop league or brought through from the youth team. Paper thin squad but twice as good as the expensive Anfield flops who are nothing without Stevie G.
