    • 90+4' There's the final whistle! Liverpool have beaten Manchester United, and are into the fifth round of the FA Cup!
    • 90+3' Finally United win the ball back, but time is running out.
    • 90+2' Anfield is absolutely rocking to 'The Fields of Anfield Road' as the hosts try to run down the clock in stoppage time. They have it close to the United corner flag.
    • 90+1' Three minutes of stoppage time to be played.
    • 90' United sub: Dimitar Berbatov on for Ryan Giggs.
    • 90' Bitter irony for Patrice Evra that he should be out of position for the winning goal, failing to track Kuyt's run. And Carroll a hero of sorts.
    • 89' NEARLY THREE!! Carroll heads onto the bar from close range, and Kuyt follows up by stabbing the ball wide!
    • 88' GOAL!! KUYT FOR LIVERPOOL!! That's surely the winner! Such a soft goal but Liverpool don't care! Route one - Carroll flicks on and Kuyt slams it past De Gea! Evra at fault, and De Gea might have done better with it.
    • 87' Valencia gets past Jose Enrique and crosses deep to Welbeck... who slices a shot high over the bar.
    • 86' Giggs tries to find Park on the left, but it's another overhit pass. Not Giggs's best game.
    • 85' Liverpool continue to look the more likely in the later stages. Downing's reverse pass intended for Bellamy goes astray.
    • 84' Kuyt finds some space well inside United territory... and that's because he's offside.
    • 83' Welbeck pounces on Agger's poor touch and hits a shot - well wide.
    • 82' Jose Enrique crosses from the left... Kuyt, moving backwards, gets his head on it but sends the ball wide.
    • 81' Kuyt's shot is charged down - it bounces through to De Gea.
    • 81' A better spell from Liverpool here... Downing's right-foot shot is blocked.
    • 80' Adam hits a shot from outside the box, and De Gea watches it thud wide.
    • 79' Giggs delivers a free-kick to the edge of the box - cleared to the edge of the box where Carrick arrives but, under pressure, he volleys well wide.
    • 77' Scholes and Carrick both reached 100 passes on 75 minutes - no verdict on who got there first.
    • 76' United change: Javier Hernandez replaces Paul Scholes, who was tiring.
    • 75' United work the ball slickly and Park plays it wide to Giggs on the left... too much pace on the pass.
    • 74' This from Opta's Duncan Alexander: "Tense scenes: Carrick has drawn level with Scholes on 96 passes. #raceto100"
    • 73' Kuyt crosses from the right... held by De Gea. Scary moments every time the ball goes near him, though.
    • 72' Liverpool sub: Craig Bellamy is on for Steven Gerrard! Interesting change - Bellers is a real terror.
    • 72' Gerrard overhits a cross but nearly catches out De Gea, who takes the ball right under his own crossbar.
    • 71' Scholes tries to play a first-time through ball for Welbeck, but the striker's run is in the other direction...
    • 70' Why is it considered taboo to substitute keepers? It's obviously the right move to bring Lindegaard on for De Gea, so why not do it? And yet - it won't happen.
    • 69' De Gea drops yet another cross with Carroll nearby - he is all over the place, and you honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Lindegaard come on.
    • 68' Carrick hits a low, long-range shot with his weaker left foot. It bounces just wide of the left-hand post.
    • 67' Gerrard strikes the free-kick goalwards, and De Gea makes a secure enough save.
    • 66' Yellow card to Rafael for a bodycheck on Downing, who seemed to have the beating of him.
    • 65' Gerrard's outswinging corner poses no threat at all. A bit of a waste.
    • 65' Another fumble by De Gea, who fails to catch a simple cross and the ball goes behind for a corner.
    • 64' Giggs plays the free-kick low into the box, but Agger hoofs a clearance away.
    • 63' Liverpool: Kuyt and Adam for Carragher and Maxi - who obviously escapes without a card! Looked like a yellow to me.
    • 62' Maxi goes in with two feet and that's risky. The ref doesn't look like he will get the red card out... a substitution first.
    • 61' That spell of United possession is still going on...
    • 60' United in possession, yet again. Liverpool happy to let the visitors dominate in possession.
    • 58' Carrick finds Welbeck's run with a superb pass! Reina comes out, Welbeck nicks the ball past him but a Liverpool defender reaches it first and the hosts survive.
    • 58' In comes the corner, and Carroll is penalised for having his arms all over Evans.
    • 57' Smalling falls over as he blocks a ball into the box! He falls over and Carroll has a chance - blocked! Liverpool have a big appeal for handball against Smalling, but again it is correctly denied. Corner.
    • 55' De Gea gives the ball away to Downing inside his own box! Downing's pacy ball into the centre is well-defended by Evans.
    • 54' 'Attack! Attack! Attack!' comes the shout from the stands. Frustration starting to set in at Liverpool's perceived lack of ambition.
    • 53' Giggs's corner is headed clear by Gerrard... can Liverpool break? No they can't.
    • 52' Re: that handball shout. The ball came off Agger's knee onto his arm. Never intentional. Although, neither was Micah Richards's on Wednesday.
    • 51' Giggs crosses low from the left - it bounces all the way over to Valencia whose shot is blocked. Scholes wants a penalty for handball but Mike Halsey says no dice!
    • 50' A slow start to the second half - Liverpool still playing conservatively.
    • 49' @hloughlin9 tweets: "i'd much prefer to see craig bellamy's graffiti-esque tattoos than andy carroll's ugly long hair. plus, bellamy can score." Quite. I'm sure most Liverpool fans would agree.
    • 48' Valencia, who has been a threat on the right, cuts inside but gets blocked off.
    • 47' A neutral half-time view from @arsenalfans4lfe: "about time united went out and signed a decent keeper. De Gea is pathetic. Man U are now the team with the dodgy gk not Arsenal." Well, they are trying - De Gea cost £18m.
    • 46' Welcome back! Liverpool kick the second half off, playing from left to right as we see it. No personnel changes from either manager.
    • 45+1' That's half-time, and it is one each. After taking the lead, Liverpool retreated into their shell and United deservedly levelled through Park. What do you make of it? Tweet me - @alexchick81
    • 45' Evra dispossesses Kelly and comes away - just one minute to be played.
    • 44' Carrick, who has had an excellent half, finds Giggs, but the Welshman's ball into the box runs astray.
    • 43' Giggs crosses deep towards Welbeck, but Jose Enrique does better this time, heading away.
    • 42' Valencia's cross loops up off Jose Enrique's boot, and Reina leaps to catch it with Welbeck lurking.
    • 41' Rafael gives the ball away sloppily, and finally Liverpool have a chance to bring the ball into enemy territory.
    • 40' Liverpool's good work is undone, and Jose Enrique could have done a lot better at dealing with Rafael. Cracking finish, though.
    • 39' GOAL!! United level through Park!! Terrific hit! Rafael gets beyond Jose Enrique and crosses low from the right byline - Park meets it first time with a beautifully crisp shot into the bottom-right corner! Reina is down quickly but has no chance of keeping it out.
    • 38' Liverpool's defensive discipline does mean they are seeing very little of the ball. Hopeful whacks forward to Carroll are just about all they're managing at the moment.
    • 37' United work the ball into the box but it's all a bit intricate and Giggs cannot find Welbeck.
    • 36' Scholes is muscled off the ball, but Liverpool lack the numbers to mount a decent counter-attack.
    • 35' Liverpool are very disciplined - back in numbers, cutting out United's passing lanes.
    • 34' Agger hits a long ball into the United box intended for Gerrard, but Rafael leaps high to make an important defensive header.
    • 32' Evra is well forward for United, but Downing has tracked back diligently and wins the ball.
    • 31' Now that's a Spanish keeper - Reina plucks a Valencia cross out of the air and launches a pacy counter-attack.
    • 30' If the scoreline stays like this, I can see Ferguson bringing Hernandez of the bench sooner rather than later. At the moment there's no threat in the box.
    • 29' It has been a very even game in terms of general play, but Liverpool have the breakthrough and deserve credit for crowding out De Gea at the corner. Looked like they had worked on that.
    • 28' Kelly chases Giggs down and puts the ball out to tremendous cheers. The pair roll into a TV mic, making it sound even more crunching.
    • 27' Stat from @OptaJoe: '1 - David De Gea has kept only one clean sheet in his last seven appearances for Man Utd. Breached.'
    • 26' All kinds of abuse being hurled at Evra as he prepares to take a throw... at least it's only abuse.
    • 25' United build down the left with Giggs and Park, but the ball is put out for a throw to the visitors.
    • 24' Selfish from Gerrard. Liverpool burst clear and the captain has options, but he fires a speculative shot into the crowd from 30 yards.
    • 23' De Gea is holding his side and might have to come off with an injury - in the meantime, he gets a decent punch on another corner.
    • 22' It sounds like I'm trotting out lazy cliches, but De Gea is useless on crosses... he has cost united several times this season.
    • 21' GOAL!! Agger heads Liverpool in front!! And it's another howler from De Gea! Gerrard pings the corner in, De Gea gets nowhere near it, and Aggers heads past the crouching goalkeeper and into the net!
    • 20' Downing darts inside from the right and beats two challenges before Scholes finally gets a touch on the ball. Then Jose Enrique fires a powerful shot that hits Smalling and goes behind for a corner.
    • 19' Evra gives the ball away (cheers).
    • 18' VALENCIA!! Off the post! He skips past Maxi as he runs diagonally inside from the right, and strikes a powerful shot off the instep that smashes into the left-hand post and bounces to safety!
    • 17' Giggs delivers a pacy, outswinging free-kick, and Skrtel heads it clear.
    • 17' Downing slides in on Evra - it's a free-kick, but the home fans love it anyway. Clear foul. Evra chuckles.
    • 16' For all the crowd noise, it has been a relatively subdued start. No tackles flying in and both sides largely patient in possession.
    • 15' @Andyncaz tweets: "Sat in the Pyrenees watching ITV, going for a Utd win but worried about the energy levels of Giggs,Scholes,Park" I'd be tempted to be on a ski slope somewhere...
    • 14' Gerrard attempts one of his killer balls for the overlapping Kelly, but it isn't anywhere near accurate.
    • 13' Kelly throws short, but then strays offside for the return pass. Wasteful.
    • 12' Kelly drills a cross into the legs of Evra and it cannons out for a throw.
    • 11' Liverpool win an attacking throw on the right, but cannot work anything positive into the box.
    • 10' Scholes hits a long ball for Welbeck to chase, but Carragher backpedals and heads clear.
    • 8' Henserson crosses from wide out on the left and Gerrard doesn't know whether to shoot or control it. In the end he does neither and shins it through to De Gea.
    • 7' Nice move from United - Valencia crosses from the left, Park knocks it down for Giggs and the Welshman volleys at Reina from the edge of the box.
    • 6' Giggs picks up a loose ball and squares low for Welbeck, but passes behind the lone striker.
    • 5' Amusing tweet from @JohnBrewinESPN - 'That's a midfield battle between Carragher, Scholes, Giggs and Gerrard. Is Sophie Ellis-Bextor still at Number One?'
    • 4' MAXI!! Strikes a powerful 25-yarder towards the left corner, and De Gea makes a decent diving save! Corner.
    • 4' Downing dribbles out from the back, aided by a couple of lucky ricochets. Liverpool look to build.
    • 3' Liverpool have started off playing a flat back four, with Jamie Carragher in a holding midfield role. Easy enough to switch to a three should the need arise, though.
    • 2' Blimey it's noisy at Anfield. Predictably, 'Only One Luis Suarez' rings around the ground. Boos for Evra when he touches it.
    • 1' Game on! Mark Halsey gets the game under way - he is a late replacement for the unwell Martin Atkinson. United kick off, playing left to right as we see it in blue and black shirts. Liverpool all in red.
    • 12:45 Luiz Suarez and pink-clad daughter are in the crowd. She has a mini scarf. Cute...
    • 12:43 Out come the trams to a tremendous roar! We're just minutes away from kick-off. Get in touch with me on Twitter
    • 12:42 People asking about Rooney - he has not trained all week after picking up ankle and knee knocks against Arsenal last weekend.
    • 12:40 Kenny Dalglish gives a guarded pre-match interview - nothing quotable, just a dead bat. (Both those interviews from ITV)
    • 12:40 Fergie when asked if he considered leaving out Patrice Evra: "Why? He's done nothing wrong."
    • 12:35 Ex-United player Paul Parker has visited Anfield a few times, and he reckons Patrice Evra is strong enough to cope with the barracking. Parker: Evra can cope with Anfield abuse
    • 12:30 I know it's inelegant to promote your own work, but what the hey? On Thursday I wrote a piece about Kenny Dalglish and the importance of faith at Liverpool. Warning, contains Tim Tebow references. Armchair Pundit: Dalglish renews Liverpool faith
    • 12:25 A little snippet of news - Germany's 'Kicker' magazine is reporting that Hannover have signed Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
    • 12:22 Over on Twitter, @nate__kelly points out: "Bellamy has been brilliant but we also can't risk him overplaying and getting injured... tough call to make" - fair point, the pugnacious Welsman's injury record is not great, to say the least.
    • 12:20 United's midfield looks distinctly past its prime. Scholes and Giggs both start, and Carrick's hardly the most sprightly. Welbeck plays as a lone striker and Park and Valencia will need to support the youngster. And interesting to see David De Gea for one of the most high-pressure games of the season.
    • 12:20 Looking at the tactics, Kenny Dalglish appears to have gone for three at the back, with Carragher, Agger and Skrtel flanked by wing-backs Jose Enrique and Martin Kelly. Carroll at least offers a physical threat, but the omission of Bellamy is weird. He's been Liverpool's best player by a mile this month.
    • 12:15 My name's Alex Chick and I'll be doing the live commentary of this match. If you want to get in touch, feel free to Tweet me @alexchick81. If you prefer, you can use the comments section below, but it will probably get quite ugly down there. twitter.com/alexchick81
    • 12:10 Evra can expect an exceptionally hostile reception at Anfield today for his part in the case that saw Luis Suarez banned for eight matches for racially abusing the Frenchman. Liverpool are still extremely angry over the verdict, and there has been much finger-pointing at Evra. We hope calm heads prevail today, but frankly there is little chance of that.
    • 12:05 They have kicked off at Loftus Road, where QPR are playing Chelsea. The pre-match handshakes were cancelled in an attempt to diffuse the Terry/Ferdinand situation. QPR v Chelsea: LIVE
    • 12:05 So, Patrice Evra captains Manchester United at Anfield, but there is no place for Wayne Rooney! And Liverpool fans may be surprised to see Andy Carroll start, with the electric Craig Bellamy on the bench.
    • 12:05 First things first, the teams: LIVERPOOL: Reina; Kelly, Skrtel, Carragher, Agger, Jose Enrique; Maxi, Henderson, Gerrard, Downing; Carroll... Subs: Doni, Johnson, Coates, Kuyt, Adam, Shelvey, Bellamy. /// MAN UTD: De Gea, Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Park, Welbeck... Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Berbatov, Chicharito, Fabio, M.Keane, Pogba.

  1. When you walk through a storm
    Hold your head up high

sounds as if liverpool have won the fa cup suppose they have to make the most of winning a game now and then at least it put a smile on benny dogleashs face

  3. And we creamed United without Lucas and Suarez.
We even had the Luxury of taking off our captain.
I seem to remember these clowns gobbing off before the match about how their reserves would smash Liverpools 1st team.
Now that didnt happen its because Liverpool were playing their 2nd best side.
So not only do these Manc cretins contradict themselves on a daily basis.
They've also run out of excuses.
Just like the mocking of the europa cup, until it became the only thing they have a slight chance of winning.
Ps claiming Youd have won with rooney and co in the side....
Didnt Rooney and co play against basel? and blackburn and newcastle?
Didnt make any difference then, wouldnt have made a difference on saturday.
Liverpool are still in every cup competition they entered.
Suarez has had a well deserved break after playing in the south american cup.
You saw what he did to defences when he first played for Liverpool, he'll be fresh as a daisy, unlike Evra whose confidence took another knock after his mistake knocked you out of the FA cup.
    I couldnt be happier.
Champions league qualification isnt beyond us either.

  4. I see Man U's midfield have been given new cars by there sponsers the new 5 wheel quingo desinged for the older person to help then get more mobile

  5. Oh my where have all the the "Liverpool have only got one decent player" gone? If Man U cant play without certain players(note how we played without Suarez) how will they win any Cups? Let alone a European One? Ferguson put out his best team available comprised of some "great players" and they lost.....If Suarez had been playing what would the score have been I wonder?? De Gea saved Man U total embarrasment and now its suck your thumb time for Man U supporters because If Looserpool are rubbish (as Man U fans say) how come we allways do so well against the "supposed" best team in the Premier?

From Dave, on Mon 30 Jan 17:48
  6. There appears to be a lot of sore losers on here today. Maybe it was not uniteds best team but lets not forget Liverpools best player was not on show either due to your clubs rantings. Definately a result for the goodies.

Sad to see people still taking the piss out of united for being in the europa leauge. Liverpool, the only matches you will play outside england will be pre season friendlies. Robert,

That wasn't out whole team as well you know. No excuses for injuries you won fair and square, however had it been our full side you would not have won, you know it and I know it and so does everybody else. You as a team have got better but have a very long way to go to get back to your former glory in the 80's if indeed you ever do.

So far you have won a football match and no trophies. I expect you to win the carlng cup thus ensuring your re entry into Europe albeit the thursday night Sunday cup as some of your supporters pointed out
