Demba Ba marked his debut with a brace as Chelsea beat Southampton 5-1 in their FA Cup third-round tie at St Mary's. More
90+4' The full-time whistle goes at St Mary's, and it's finished 5-1 to Chelsea, with Demba Ba netting a brace on his debut following his move from Newcastle! Benitez's side are through to the fourth round, despite having gone a goal down to Southampton early on. Thanks for joining us.
90' There will be four added minutes at the end of the second half as Ward-Prowse is needlessly booked for a poor challenge on Oscar on halfway.
83' Lampard scores! He drills a fierce strike down the centre to make it four goals in five games for Chelsea, and this game is very much over!
82' Penalty! Chelsea win a penalty as Yoshida is adjudged to have handled in the box, and Lampard will take this...
80' Oscar comes on for Benitez's final change as Mata makes way. He has been imperious today!
79' De Ridder is booked for a late challenge on Luiz, and he can have no complaints.
77' Another change for Chelsea now, with the diminutive Marco Marin coming on for Victor Moses.
76' Tadanari Lee comes on for Southampton, and it's Puncheon who makes way.
70' Moses charges down the left at pace and clips a deep delivery to the back post, where Ba sees a powerful downward header saved by the legs of Boruc! Denied his hat-trick!
65' Chelsea make a change now, and it's a very popular one with Frank Lampard getting a run-out, and Branislav Ivanovic making way.
63' Southampton's misery is compounded now as defender Jose Fonte has to be stretchered off, with Jos Hooiveld coming on in his place.
61' GOAL! Ba bags a second to double his tally on debut, and it's a neat finish at the near post as he meets a pinpoint cross from Hazard out on the right, and it's a cracking first game for the forward after his move from Newcastle! This Cup tie is effectively over as a contest now.
59' There's almost a fourth for Chelsea as Boruc can only tip a deep delivery from Mata into the path Hazard, but Luke Shaw does brilliantly to get his body in front of the ball before turning the striker and taking the ball out of defence.
55' Steve De Ridder comes on to provide a more attacking option for the hosts with Morgan Schneiderlin making way.
52' GOAL! Ivanovic heads beyond Boruc for his sixth goal of the season, and it's a cracking header from the big defender from Mata's cross out on the left! Chelsea now have a two-goal cushion, and it's Mata again who is the creator.
46' The second half is under way at St Mary's, and the bookies have Chelsea at 1/6 to hold out for the win, a Southampton come-back victory at 16/1, while a draw will get you 5/1.

45+3' That goal on the stroke of half-time has given Chelsea a 2-1 lead at the break, and it's a terrific turnaround for Benitez's side after Ba's debut goal cancelled out Rodriguez's opener for Southampton. All to play for in the second half, and we've already seen three goals.
45+2' GOAL! Victor Moses puts Chelsea in front as he lashes a fierce half-volley into the far corner of the net, and Boruc has no chance! The strike followed fine work from Ashley Cole outwide on the left, and his cut back could hardly have been dealt with better from Moses!
43' Rodriguez is absolutely furious as he is ruled offside, but Cahill timed his step up perfectly.
36' GOAL! Demba Ba levels for Chelsea after Mata scoops the ball over the onrushing Boruc, and the forward taps the ball in on the line for his new side - what a start on his debut! It's his 14th goal of the season, and a big one for Chelsea!
26' Chelsea are pushing upfield with real urgency, and Hazard is inches away with a precise curled shot towards the far corner of Boruc's goal!
22' GOAL! Puncheon slips a sublime through ball beyond Cahill and into the path of Rodriguez, who nets his fifth goal of the season with a composed finish beyond Turnbull! Southampton are in front early at St Mary's! It was a very fine finish from Rodriguez!
14' Steven Davis limps off to the touchline to receive treatment after suffering a knock.
1' The first half is under way at St Mary's, and Southampton, wearing their change strip of all white, keep the ball at the back.

Super Chelsea! Super Demba Ba!!
Scummers scummed !!!
money & fame does nothing, Torres is famous and worth 50 M for chelses but did nothing, Ba wiht 7.5 M scored 2 in first match and also drogba, we miss drogba but hope Ba could fill his space and repeat his memories. KBL AFG
Just Marin !!!
1 4 Ba.
Number 87, when you get relegated anyway you may change your tune, you have a zero chance of survival so you may as well try.
What Torres took 25 games to achieve, D Ba took just 61 minute to get done
Many of you are asking why Lampard did not let Ba take the penalty and complete his hat-trick - I agree, it would have been a nice touch. ---- Lampard is after the record goal tally at Chelsea before he leaves, he will try get as many as possible now, greedy!
I wonder if Ba, was given the chance to take the penalty?
i am the 98th comment
@Stig if Ba did not score the first goal, the defender would have cleared it. Try reporting the truth, it helps.
You pay 50 million pounds for someone to score after 11 matches, you pay 7 million for someone to score on his debut.
Stepped the pace up and it was an easy win - there must be a lesson to be learned there. If CFC just idly pass the ball around then any team can cope with that. Quick passing always pays dividends. Ba scored a good second goal and worked hard up and down the pitch. his first goal was disrespectful to Mata. He should not just sneak the ball in when it is goalbound already. that sort of thing belongs on the playground or Hackney marshes. Don;t want to see that repeated.
shows what a good buy Torres was, i don't think
Fantastic win against a side i despise!
