    • 93 FULL TIME Liverpool beat Singapore 5-0, thanks in large part to a brilliant cameo performance from Dirk Kuyt who picked up no less than three assists in ten minutes. It has been a good workout for Liverpool who handed Xabi Alonso his first appearance of pre-season.
    • 91 Superb stuff from Kuyt yet again as he picks out Torres with a lovely cross but the striker's header floated just wide of the far post.
    • 90 Fernando Torres has a shot deflected over the bar and Liverpool are finishing this game in impressive fashion. It has been something of a rout in the second half.
    • 85 Dirk Kuyt really has made a tremendous impact since coming on and the Dutchman almost bags a goal of his own when firing a volley straight at the keeper. He then tees up Torres who drags a shot wide.
    • 83 GOAL FOR LIVERPOOL! It is that man Kuyt who again claims an assist as he dinks the ball across to Nemeth for a good headed finish. Dani Pacheco also played a key role in the build-up with a fine bit of skill before passing to Kuyt.
    • 80 GOAL FOR LIVERPOOL! Kuyt is the creator once more as he breaks free down the right and crosses for Torres who is left with the easiest of finishes. 4-0.
    • 79 Andrea Dossena forces the keeper into making a smart save as he drives a shot at goal.
    • 78 Andrea Dossena, Pepe Reina and Xabi Alonso have all come on for Liverpool. The Spaniard comes on to a good reception from the numerous Reds fans in the crowd.
    • 76 Xabi Alonso is limbering up on the touchlines and will shortly make an appearance alongside Pepe Reina.
    • 73 GOAL FOR LIVERPOOL! Krisztian Nemeth finishes cooly from Dirk Kuyt's pass to put Liverpool 2-0 in front. The Hungarian does look a good finisher and Liverpool have high hopes for the young striker.
    • 70 Shaiful Esah delivers a wicked free-kick that has Gulasci backpedalling before seeing the ball sneak over the bar. Singapore have not capitulated here by any means, but they do not look like troubling the Liverpool keeper either.
    • 69 Jay Spearing whips in a dangerous cross from the right but the ball is too much of a stretch for Fernando Torres.
    • 65 Jay Spearing has also come on at right back in place of Philipp Degen.
    • 63 Spanish youngster Dani Pacheco combines well with his countryman Torres but the Singapore defender is across to block and concede a corner.
    • 62 Liverpool have made sweeping changes with Dirk Kuyt, Damien Plessis, Martin Kelly, Fernando Torres, Krisztian Nemeth and Dani Pacheco all on.
    • 61 Andrej Voronin and Albert Riera exchange passes on the fringe of the penalty area and the Ukraine striker gets his foot under the ball to sky his shot over the bar.
    • 60 Agu Casmir drags one wide for Singapore but Liverpool look very comfortable now.
    • 55 GOAL FOR LIVERPOOL! Mascherano delivers a deep cross to the back post where Riera is waiting to control and finish emphatically past the keeper. 2-0.
    • 52 Liverpool continue to threaten as Yossi Benayoun tries to chip the keeper from just inside the box. An imaginative attempt but he fails to execute the shot properly and the ball soars over the bar.
    • 51 Emiliano Insua finds David Ngog with a dinked ball into the box but the Frenchman can only produce a weak header that fails to trouble the keeper.
    • 50 Yossi Benayoun and Philipp Degen combine down the right but the Swiss defender's cross is cut out by the Singapore defence.
    • 49 Juma'at Jantan sends in a whipped cross that appears at one stage to be dipping under the bar. Gulasci sees it over safely though.
    • 47 Benitez resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes but we should see a number of substitutions throughout the half.
    • 46 The game restarts.
    • 46 Singapore's Merseyside love-in continues as The Beatles blare out at the National Stadium. We are seconds away from the restart now.
    • 46 Rafa Benitez has made three changes at half-time with Peter Gulasci, Emiliano Insua and Albert Riera replacing Diego Cavalieri, Mikel San Jose and Ryan Babel. We have to wait for Xabi Alonso though...
    • 45 Half-time and Voronin's late goal has given Liverpool a lead going into the break. They have dominated possession but have struggled to create many clear-cut chances. Perhaps that will change if Rafa Benitez, as expected, changes his personnel considerably for the second half.
    • 45 Voronin puts Liverpool in front as his strike from 20 yards takes a deflection to sneak past Sunny and into the corner of the net. That was in first half injury time.
    • 43 Daniel Agger lines up a 25-yard free-kick and with everyone expecting a piledriver, the Dane instead attempts to find a team-mate before seeing his pass blocked by the Singapore wall.
    • 42 An intricate passing move from Liverpool is ruined by Voronin as he loses possession. It remains to be seen whether he has a future at Anfield having spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin.
    • 40 Javier Mascherano finds Agger with a lovely floated pass via the outside of his boot but the defender skews his shot from a tight angle and it almost goes out for a throw.
    • 37 We have the first booking of the night as Noh Rahman is penalised for a blatant shirt-tug on Babel. Did that really warrant a booking in a pre-season friendly though?
    • 36 Yossi Benayoun is the key to unlocking the Singapore defence at present but that will all change should Xabi Alonso appear for the second half. A great player.
    • 34 Yossi Benayoun, clever as ever, picks out Ngog with a neat pass in the box but the Frenchman's shot is deflected behind for a corner. Liverpool fail to make anything of the set-piece.
    • 33 Rafa Benitez, casual in a tracksuit (well it is only pre-season), hollers instructions from the sidelines and Mascherano is in the wars again as he is felled by a firm challenge.
    • 31 Voronin is given far too much space in the centre of the park but his pass through to Ngog has too much on it and Singapore knock the ball out for a corner.
    • 29 Lucas almost carves the Singapore defence open with a lovely pass for Benayoun but Baihakki Khaizan is across to intercept.
    • 27 Daniel Agger leaps for the ball and falls awkwardly on his back. A worrying moment for a man who has had his fitness troubles in that area. The Dane appears to be fine though.
    • 26 Liverpool find themselves three versus two on the break but Lucas delays his pass for Ngog and the Frenchman is subsequently ruled offside. That was a borderline decision to say the least.
    • 25 Javier Mascherano produces a messy sliding tackle and the referee has a quiet word in his ear. Maybe he was still smarting after that earlier incident.
    • 24 The pressure increases on Singapore as the hosts are forced to clear a dangerous cross from Yossi Benayoun. The Israeli then sees a shot blocked.
    • 23 Voronin's deep cross finds Ngog at the back post and his header back across goal drifts just wide.
    • 21 Lucas sends in another corner and after Singapore clear their lines, Carragher picks out Babel and his attempted cut-back for Agger is smothered by the keeper.
    • 20 Javier Mascherano is flattened by a firm shoulder charge from Aleksandr Duric and the Singapore man gets a bit of a telling off. Rightly so, that was ridiculous for a pre-season friendly.
    • 18 Yossi Benayoun wins a corner for Liverpool and Mikel San Jose directs Lucas Leiva's delivery wide. The young defender could have done better with that.
    • 16 Diego Cavalieri hasn't touched the ball in the Liverpool goal yet and it is very easy for the Premier League side. The Reds have been over-elaborating in the final third though, with Benayoun and Babel attempting an intricate one-two that leads to nothing.
    • 14 Voronin looks distinctly unimpressed when a wandering hand from Mustafic Fahrudin catches him in a sensitive area. The Ukraine striker is experiencing the kind of pain that all men fear.
    • 13 Javier Mascherano is in typically spiky mood as he aims to win the ball back. Liverpool will miss him hugely if he does indeed leave. Benitez is determined to keep him though.
    • 11 Voronin is lurking ominously in the box but Ngog's cross is intercepted. Just seconds later, Agger attemps a trademark drive from long range but his shot flies over the bar.
    • 9 It is good to see Philipp Degen out on the pitch. He looked very exciting in Liverpool's pre-season campaign last summer but injuries wrecked his first year at the club.
    • 7 David Ngog picks out Ryan Babel with a good cross and the Dutchman heads at goal, only to see his effort saved by Hassan Sunny in the Singapore goal.
    • 6 Ngog again wastes possession with a careless pass but Liverpool are predictably dominating at the moment as they play the ball around.
    • 4 Daniel Agger appears to be playing at left-back, with Mikel San Jose in the centre. A sign of things to come? Probably not but the Dane is a good option for that position.
    • 2 Andriy Voronin plays in David Ngog with a lovely through-ball but despite indulging in a nice bit of skill, the Frenchman allows the chance to pass.
    • 1 Singapore get us underway.
    • 12.08 They might be thousands of miles from Merseyside but Liverpool will be feeling nicely at home as 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is played over the PA system. Kick off is fast approaching...
    • 12.04 The teams stream onto the pitch and Liverpool are led out by Jamie Carragher, closely followed by Javier Mascherano who has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks. His agent even claimed the player no longer wants to live in England. Should enjoy this trip to Asia then.
    • 12.01 The stadium is a sea of red and Liverpool will feel like they are playing in front of a home crowd, almost everyone seems to be sporting a replica kit.
    • 11.57 We are just minutes away from kick-off at the Singapore National Stadium...
    • 11.56 Captain Steven Gerrard is not with the team due to his recent legal situation but Liverpool should still have more than enough to beat Singapore. That said, they are still without a win in pre-season.
    • 11.53 New signing Glen Johnson has been named on the bench but all eyes will be on Alonso after the sustained speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid. Will his body language give any hints as to his frame of mind?
    • 11.50 Welcome to our coverage of Liverpool's pre-season friendly against Singapore. Rafa Benitez's team-sheet is in and Xabi Alonso is named amongst the substitutes. Liverpool: Cavalieri, Degen, Carragher, Agger, San Jose, Babel, Mascherano, Lucas, Benayoun, Voronin, Ngog. Substitutes: Johnson, Plessis, Torres, Riera, Pacheco, Dossena, Gulacsi, Insua, Alonso, Kelly, Arbeloa, Kuyt, Reina, Spearing, Nemeth.
  • Summary

    • 91 Superb stuff from Kuyt yet again as he picks out Torres with a lovely cross but the striker's header floated just wide of the far post.

  6. @wa_cker: get the ell of this site you @#$%, the chinese side United played today was even worse than the Malaysian national team in which your boys needed a last minute goal to win, not to mention that fact that Greentown was able to put 2 away on your shaky defense. Sure you scored more goals, but Liverpool's RESERVE defense let in less than your FIRST TEAM defense. Shut your scum mouth and get off our site, this was the first time Liverpool played more than 4 first team players and look at the result, can't say that for United as you have been playing multiple first teamers the whole preseason. Don't shiite yourself when you realize that premier league opposition aren't as easy as Greentown
