    Poland edge out Wales

Wales fell to a 1-0 defeat against Poland in Portugal in a match that will tell John Toshack little about his side. More

    • Poland
    • FT No late drama and Poland have hung on for the win. The subs made a mockery of the game really but encouraging signs for Wales in the opening period.
    • 89' Edwards nearly sets up an attack with a cross-field ball but Poland manage to cut it out.
    • 88' Fletcher with another heavy challenge and if this wasn't a friendly match he might have been sent-off.
    • 84' Poland are just passing around now and looking to play this match out. Hard to see what either manager will learn from this game.
    • 80' STUNNING GOAL FROM POLAND. It is the Brazil born Roger Guerreiro who has got it. A long ball bounced to him on the edge of the box and then with the outside of the boot he lobbed it over Myhill for a BEAUTY of a goal. Great stuff from the Legia Warsaw man.
    • 79' Stunning drive from distance from Mariusz Lewandowski and Myhill has to get down low to make a superb save. Great shot from 35-yards out but an equally good save.
    • 76' Another Polish change - off comes Murawski and Tralka comes on - the match has turned into a bit of a farce with all these substitutes now to be honest.
    • 72' Another little spell of Welsh pressure down the right before the ball is cleared by the Poles again but again better stuff from Wales.
    • 71' Good work from Wales down the left as Ramsey slips in Bale down the left but his cut back is cleared.
    • 68' Scrappy stuff out there but Poland are getting the better of things - the first yellow of the night goes to Carl Fletcher for a heavy challenge.
    • 62' Poland made four changes at the break and have now made another one with Robert Lewandowski coming off and Brozek coming on.
    • 59' Poland get a free-kick in a central position about 30 yards out but one of their half-time substitues - Guerreiro - curls it well over.
    • 57' Great free from Bale whipped to the back post and it looks as if Nyatanga can't miss but he somehow heads wide!
    • 55' With all these changes at the break the game is not quite flowing but Ramsey has looked good since coming on.
    • 52' Five changes for Wales at the break - Myhill, Ramsey, Fletcher, Vokes and Cotterill have all come on - off went Hennessey, Evans, Bellamey, Collison and Ledley (I think!)
    • 50' Poland doing more of the attacking in these open stages of the second-half but no chances as of yet.
    • 48' Aaron Ramsey and Sam Vokes are two of the players who are certainly on for Wales.
    • 46' The second-half underway now and there have been a host of changes which will take us a while to sort out so bear with us.
    • HT' There is the half-time whistle - decent stuff from Wales - they are prehaps a little unlucky not to be in front.
    • 43' Good save from Hennessey - Gargula saw a shot deflect into the path of R. Lewandowski and he really should have done better as Hennessey got down well to save his low drive from just inside the box.
    • 40' Bale and Collison with a lovely one two inside the box but Collison slipped offside - still this is good stuff from the Welsh.
    • 37' Bellamy found over the top again by Bale - he only has Zewlakow with and he checks across him to allow him room to shot but he puts his low shot just wide. Bale, Ledley and Bellamy have been causing lots of problems down the left.
    • 35' At the other end Krzynowek goes on a dangerous run before being crowded out in the box.
    • 34' And then moments later it is OFF THE LINE - a Welsh corner is whipped into the box - Edwards gets his head to it but there is a Polish defender on the line to clear.
    • 34' OFF THE BAR FROM LEDLEY - Poland make a mess of try to clear the ball - Ledley just really swings a boot at it and more by accent than design it loops up and hits the underside of the bar.
    • 29' Great run by Ched Evans - he then chips a ball back to Bellamy - it bounces a little behind Bellamy but you would still expect him to hit the target but instead it goes over the bar.
    • 28' Another Polish shot from distance - this time from Krzynowek - that is still rising it so high over the bar.
    • 25' Rather drab stuff here to be honest - Wales not doing too bad but will need to keep the ball better in those big matches against Finland and Poland coming up next week.
    • 22' Bellamy digs out a good cross to the back post but it just won't drop in time for Evans.
    • 19' A ball over the top sees Bellamy race away - he then hits the ball over the outrushing Fabianski but Zewlakow is there to clear before the Manchester City striker can finish. Zewlakow showing the experience that has earned him over 80 caps for Poland.
    • 18' Nyatanga with a header back to Hennessey that had hearts in mouth for a moment but the Wolves keeper gathers.
    • 16' Poland with a good counter attack move and Krzynowek has a chance on the left-hand side of the box - his cross goal shot isn't great but Hennessey isn't getting to it - R Lewandowski nearly slides in to score but is goes just wide.
    • 15' It maybe a friendly match but Bale has just been fouled after a crushing tackle by Wasilewski - Wales waste the free-kick again though as they put it into the arms of Fabianski.
    • 13' Bellamy and Ledley play a little one-two down the left and Bellamy's check back is cleared for a corner - Fabianski nearly spills that corner before finally gathering.
    • 12' If anything Wales are the better team now after their slow start but still nothing to get the half dozen fans in the crowd excited as of yet.
    • 9' Great control from Evans sees the ball held up and Wales can build a decent move. It comes to an end though when Fabianski gathers a cross from Bale.
    • 7' Wales starting to at least pass the ball around a little now which will offer John Tosack some encouragment. Remember you can share your thoughts with other fans on the match by leaving your comments below. Play nice though!
    • 5' Poland really controlling these opening stages a nice check back to the other Lewandowski - Mariusz - leads to him powering a shot towards goal but it goes just wide of the target. Wales are being overrun in midfield at the moment.
    • 4' A long ball find Robert Lewandowski on the edge of the box - he tries a half-volley but it goes miles over the bar.
    • 3' Poland have started the game the better and Murawski has just had the first shot on target from 25-yards out but that was straight at Hennessey.
    • 1' And Poland in their white shirts have got us underway.
    • - Players just coming out now into the tiny stadium with an even tinier crowd. I would say one man and his dog is here but it seems the man has left his dog at home. At least the sun is shining!
    • - Poland played out a 1-1 draw with Lituania in Faro on Saturday but that was with a group of home-based players - their international star are added tonight.
    • - In true movie awards seasons style here is a selection of the Welsh players who sadly can't be with us this evening. James Collins, Danny Gabbidon, Simon Davies, Jason Koumas, Robert Earnshaw, Craig Davies and Craig Morgan
    • - It is an all Manchester City strikeforce for the Welsh with Craig Bellamy fit to partner Ched Evans up front. You can see the teams below and Wales have gone for another young line-up.
    • - Welcome to the Santo Antonio Sports Complex in Villa Real Portugal for this friendly match between Wales and Poland.
