    • 21:25 Now that's what a friendly match should be. Six goals, debuts aplenty and a world class performance from the polarising big man Ibra, who surely won't divide opinion much after that. Let me know what you think of the match, of Zlatan and of England via Twitter @liamhappe
    • 90+5' Full time! It's Sweden's night - mostly Zlatan Ibrahimovic's night - as they christen their new multi-purpose stadium with a fantastic friendly game and 4-2 win over England. And you know what? Roy Hodgson's first non-penalties defeat is far from the doom and gloom one would think. Many individual performances to be proud of on a night of experimentation for the Three Lions.
    • 90+4' Quite frankly, I'm still reeling from that amazing fourth from Zlatan. Track a replay clip down. Now.
    • 90+3' Isaksson flaps at a cross from the left but Safari is there to cover and clear.
    • 90+2' Hart comes out of his area for a Sweden long ball... the header away is soft, though, and Ibra... Ibra... IBRA! Overhead kick into the open goal from 25 yards! What. A. Goal. Ibrahimovic 4, England 2!
    • 90+1' Four minutes added on.
    • 90' Another switch for the Swedes, with Ranegie off and Pontus Wernbloom on.
    • 89' Sturridge collects the ball out on the left and squares it to meet Welbeck's entrance to the area, but it's a fantastic slide in from Jansson to prevent the shot! Osman collects the loose ball and jinks between three defenders but is also thwarted before he can strike!
    • 88' Sweden break from the corner and Wilshere checks Ibra for a cynical yellow to prevent the attack.
    • 87' Baines comes into the area and receives a ball from Welbeck, but has no choice but to play it back to the role-reversed forward who wins a corner.
    • 86' And Pontus Jansson comes on in place of Larsson for the hosts.
    • 85' Sterling makes way for Zaha.
    • 84' But first, Sweden have a free-kick 32 yards out and Ibra will go for goal... AND HE'S FOUND IT! Low and hard into the far bottom corner for the hat-trick! Hart should have been better stationed for that but the Zlatan show is taking Stockholm by storm! Hat-trick, 3-2 Sweden
    • 83' Looks like Wilfried Zaha will soon make his England debut, making it four England players on the pitch who could yet switch nationalities (Jenkinson, Sterling, Shawcross)
    • 82' Welbeck soon finds himself back in possession though, playing it short to Osman who enters the box with a lovely two-step fake before firing a low effort straight into Isaksson's clutches.
    • 81' Huddlestone picks out Welbeck with acres of space on the left. His initial delivery is blocked by Antonsson and just about kept out from being a corner.
    • 80' The delivery triggers an instant offside flag, and the opportunity comes to nothing.
    • 79' Wilshere is again brought down, this time by a back-tracking Ibrahimovic. Free-kick is 35 yards out on the right.
    • 78' Jenkinson has a shot closed down by Jonas Olsson.
    • 77' GOAL SWEDEN! And what a second for Ibrahimovic! He brings sub Svensson's cross down onto his chest and fires an unstoppable volley low inside the near post. 2-2!
    • 76' Almost a chance for Welbeck but he is unable to keep possession inside the box.
    • 75' The corner comes to nothing and here we go: Carl Jenkinson makes his England debut replacing Johnson, as is Ryan Shawcross for Caulker and a standing ovation from the away fans for Gerrard, who makes way for Tom Huddlestone.
    • 74' Mikael Antonsson is on for Granvqvist and Tobias Sana for Lustig. England will make three changes after the corner.
    • 73' An inviting diagonal ball from Lustig is too much of a threat for Johnson to take chances with. He heads behind for a corner and here come more changes...
    • 72' The move eventually loses steam and Sweden play the ball around their back line. Looks like another slew of replacements is imminent.
    • 71' Prolonged Swedish possession on the left ends when Osman nips in to win the ball. He's fouled straight after but Wilshere is there to carry advantage forward for England.
    • 70' Kacaniklic moves into the area from the left but his cross attempt is easy pickings for Hart.
    • 69' The ever-eloquent travelling supporters are now taunting Ibrahimovic, labelling him a "poor man's Andy Carroll". That, of course, is paraphrased.
    • 68' Granqvist scythes through Wilshere as the recovering Arsenal man receives Welbeck's clever flick. That's the game's first yellow card.
    • 67' ...well, only as far as Gerrard, who lashes the loose ball into the ground from the edge of the box but his effort goes wide.
    • 66' Good work by Johnson to meet a ball at the right-hand byline before it goes out. He clips the ball back but it's cleared.
    • 65' Sweden looking dangerous again here. More good build-up play goes to waste as Lustig overhits the cross from the right.
    • 64' Neat ball over the top of the England back line to find Zlatan with a sight of goal from 20 yards out but his first-time half-volley idea doesn't come to fruition and goes wide.
    • 63' Superb target man work from Ibra amounts to nothing as England get the numbers back to prevent Kacaniklic or Ranegie from making anything of it.
    • 62' Another raking Sweden free-kick from the middle of the park is headed from safety by the visitors.
    • 61' It's Kallstrom's last act. He makes way for Anders Svensson. Remember him? This is his 135th cap, a new record for Swedish outfield players. Meanwile, it's Young and Cleverley coming off as Sturridge and Wilshere enter the fray.
    • 60' Dangerous ball by Kallstrom but Baines is across to clear. Great work by the Everton left-back.
    • 59' Cahill brings down Ranegie for a free-kick inside the centre circle. Looks like Daniel Sturridge and Jack Wilshere will soon be introduced.
    • 58' Hart feels he is fouled as he and Ranegie go up for a high ball in the England area. He wasn't, but Larsson skies the subsequent shot anyway.
    • 57' Do you want to see the likes of England's Jenkinson and Zaha and Sweden's Sana enter the fray soon? Or are you afraid substitutions will kill the flow of the friendly as it often the case? Let me know on Twitter as we are publishing your comments.
    • 56' Gerrard keeps Isaksson's hands warm with a dangerously-swerving on-target drive from 25.
    • 55' Osman, who has been a real presence since the restart, wins another corner for England. It's taken short before Baines plays in Sterling on the left-hand edge of the box, but a very, very late offside flag rises.
    • 54' Nothing comes of the flag kick and England keep possession until a Sterling slip leads to Lustig getting a defensive throw.
    • 53' Another free-kick won on the channels by Sterling sees Gerrard pick out Osman from the set piece... shot pushed around the near post by Isaksson!
    • 52' Some more heavy pressure comes from the corner before a Sweden counter attempt ends when Ranegie dawdles in possession and Baines picks his pocket.
    • 51' Good turn by Osman by the right-hand byline and both his cut-back attempt and Gerrard's attempt at a low shot follow-up are blocked off. Corner England.
    • 50' I should note that the Baines ball which almost found Welbeck moments ago also found its way to Osman beyond the far post, who could not guide it towards goal from such an awkward angle.
    • 48' Ibrahimovic comes to help an attack on the right flank for Sweden by Caulker follows him and helps win an England throw.
    • 47' Early chance for 3-1! Baines unleashes a fantastic delivery from the left which is seconds too fast for Welbeck to head in for his second of the match!
    • 46' And England get us back underway with the second period.
    • 45' HALF-TIME SUBS: Little activity, actually. Behrang Safari comes on for Martin Olsson in a like-for-like at left-back for Sweden, but that's it for the time being.
    • 45+1' Half-time. A distinctly watchable first 45 minutes of play to break in the Friends Arena. England turn around a the deficit of Ibrahimovic's historic opening goal through Swedish bane Welbeck and debutant Caulker. Fancy Hodgson's boys to hold on for a morale-boosting win? What will the inevitable flood of substitutions mean to the game? I wanna know what you think. Follow me on Twitter and let me know! @liamhappe
    • 45' Fans of nice, round numbers rejoice: Gerrard's free-kick for Caulker's goal was his 20th England assist in his 100th England game. One minute added on to the first half.
    • 44' Larsson to send this one into a crowded box and Ranegie gets his head on it, but so does Cahill. It's away from danger.
    • 43' Jonas Olsson is felled by Johnson, who hasn't really matched the tempo of the game so far, on the left. Free-kick Sweden.
    • 41' Too much in-swing on the corner allows Hart to see it out beyond the far post for a goal kick.
    • 40' But that almost ends in two minutes as Sweden hustle to keep an attack alive and Kacaniklic's cross from the right again finds that killer toe of Ibrahimovic - this time the effort is deflected behind by Caulker for a corner.
    • 39' England fans are chanting "1-0, and you..." -well. I'm sure you get the picture.
    • 38' GOAL ENGLAND! Steven Caulker scores on his debut! The 20-year-old meets a fantastic Gerrard delivery from the 35-yard free-kick just right of centre. Such an inviting delivery from the centurion for the debutant at the far post. 2-1!
    • 37' Sterling has been learning fast after losing out to Martin Olsson in the build to the opening goal. Once again he wins a battle between the two, holding him off long enough to draw the foul.
    • 36' Welbeck continues to enjoy playing against Sweden and 1-1 so far is a fair reflection. England have had the most of the action but Sweden the most dangerous in their opponents' final third between their cutting breaks and uncertainty at the back for the Three Lions.
    • 35' GOAL ENGLAND! Lovely cross from Young this time gets into the danger zone uninterrupted and Welbeck evades his marker with perfect timing to meet it at close range with an outstretched leg! Sterling did superbly in the build up, too. 1-1!
    • 34' Young's corner from this side is headed into the path of Gerrard, who takes a touch and lifts it over the crowd to the feet of Cahill six yards out... but the centre-back is offside.
    • 33' Young moves inside Granqvist to fire in a cross on the left, but the defender gets a trailing leg to it to concede a corner.
    • 32' Jesus wept, that was a horrific miss. Almost as terrible as the defensive confusion which allowed it.
    • 31' Should be 2-0! Horror-show mix-up between Cahill and Hart as both opt to leave it for the other, allowing Kacaniklic to nip in for a blocked shot before Ibrahimovic squares for Ranegie with the goal at his mercy... but the Udinese forward somehow fires over.
    • 30' Pressure from a Swedish side growing in confidence as they play around on the edge of England's box and Ranegie squares for Kacaniklic.... whose shot is closed down.
    • 29' Jordan Rhodes has helped himself to two early goals for Scotland in Luxembourg. LIVE updates!
    • 27' Wicked ball in by Larsson on the right towards Ranegie... he clips it the wrong side of the upright under pressure from Cahill!
    • 26' Sterling to Welback, who under pressure from Jonas Olsson near the byline on the right pulls it back for a Johnson stab at goal from 20 yards... Cleverley is onside with the final touch! Wide of the far post! Good chance!
    • 25' Olsson this time is overly rough with Sterling and concedes a free-kick by the halfway line.
    • 24' Another Lustig overlap ends in him being kept from the ball by Caulker for a goal kick.
    • 23' Cleverley's early cross has too much behind it and sails straight into the waiting arms of Isaksson.
    • 22' Space for Sweden to strike again, but Lustig's low cross cannot be converted by Ibra. Goal kick.
    • 21' It's fair to call that against the run of play, but England were very ripe for a counter and Sweden did not disappoint. Ibra a fitting first name on the history books of this stadium.
    • 20' GOAL SWEDEN! The loose ball from Olsson's slide challenge on Sterling fell to Ranegie, who strides forward until he has Olsson for company. Olsson crosses for Ibrahimovic who has one effort blocked before sticking the loose ball into the roof of the net. 1-0!
    • 19' Sterling loses possession to Martin Olsson and Sweden break...
    • 18' Welbeck again eats grass on the left flank. Granqvist this time the guilty party. England take the free-kick short and continue to gather momentum in possession.
    • 17' Kallstrom will try his luck from 25, but the effort fizzes safely wide of Hart's goal.
    • 16' Welbeck is tripped by Elm out on the left and Gerrard will again assume set piece duties. It's a penetrating delivery but Cahill is inches from getting a crucial flick on it and Isaksson claims.
    • 15' Gerrard's flag kick is headed from danger by Jonas Olsson.
    • 14' Mis-communication between Olsson and Granqvist causes the latter to concede the first corner of the match in very cheap fashion.
    • 13' Now centurion Gerrard keeps it end-to-end with a diagonal loft for the run of Young, who ran just a tad early in fact. Offside flag.
    • 12' Ibra sparks a counter and Kacaniklic crosses for Ranegie, who loses his balance trying to bring the ball down.
    • 11' Cleverly threads a decent ball to a free Sterling on the right and his cross is good, but Swedish bodies dominate the six-yard box and Martin Olsson clears.
    • 10' Caulker is a little advanced to trade passes with Young but it ends up back with Sweden.
    • 9' Now the Sunderland winger appears to put PSG striker Ibrahimovic through but the ball had crept off play on the right-hansd side.
    • 8' Baines defends well to concede a throw out on the right as Larsson looked to threaten.
    • 7' Cleverley continues to anchor England's passing movements going forward and is involved in one particularly decent sequence culminates in an Osman shot being held by Isaksson before it could find the bottom corner. Welbeck with the final ball.
    • 6' Young feels he is pushed to the floor by Lustig, who featured in Celtic's massive win over Barcelona in the Champions League. The referee disagrees and awards a Sweden defensive throw.
    • 5' "100 caps? Been there, done that", says Sweden keeper Andreas Isaksson, earning his 102nd cap tonight. Isaksson once tended goal at Man City with England's number one Hart as his understudy...
    • 4' Cleverley's attempt to play Manchester United team-mate Welbeck through inside the Sweden box is blocked but falls favourably for the striker... until he handles in his control.
    • 3' Osman's first real contribution is a well-timed slide in on Elm to prevent the midfielder embarking on a run down the middle.
    • 2' Sterling, wearing the famous England number seven shirt today, gets a clattering introduction to the big stage when he is sandwiched between two gold shirts for an England free-kick.
    • 1' And now, big Zlatan and Ranegie get the game started for real.
    • 19:30 Ibrahimovic stages a false kick-off with one of the Sweden mascots, apparently to simulate the passing of the torch to the future of the nation's sport which will be housed in this new arena. Aww.
    • 19:25 The teams are out on the pitch at the Friends Arena and in a stunning development, the England team partake in not one but TWO verses of God Save Our Queen! The action kicks off in just moments and we will have minute-by-minute updates, plus more of your thoughts via Twitter, NEXT!
    • 19:20 Did you know...? Raheem Sterling, who earns his first cap tonight, was aged just five when Gerrard was awarded his first?
    • 19:15 Max Beech (@max_beech) is the first Tweep interacting this evening, asking: "Do u agree with Ibrahimovic that Gerrard needs to find a big club b4 2 late?" - well, my answer is no. Stevie G appears to have done just fine at the one club. And is club-hopping in search of more trophies really more admirable than actually playing well enough to win them? But never mind my opinions, tweet me @liamhappe and let me know what you think...
    • 19:10 Our regular feature Early Doors is more positive of the 'art' of pre-emptive capping. Do you agree? Early Doors
    • 19:05 Though Sweden are brimming with familiar names such as Ibrahimovic, Kim Kallstrom, West Brom's Jonas Olsson, Fulham's Alexander Kacaniklic, Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson, Celtic's Mikael Lustig and Martin Olsson of Blackburn, they too have youth prospects in the squad. Take Ajax prodigy Tobias Sana, for instance. Euroscout today took a closer look at the teenage winger: Sana, Sweden's raw diamond
    • 19:00 Fellow analyst Paul Parker, who won 19 caps for the country, is a tad more cynical of the likes of Zaha and fellow dual-nationality player Carl Jenkinson being rushed into the national set-up. check out his views in full here!
    • 18:55 Wilfried Zaha will have to be brought on from the bench if the Crystal Palace star is to make his England bow tonight, a cap which would not prevent the striker from eventually switching to the Ivory Coast as it is not a competitive game. Eurosport expert Jim White argues that panic over Zaha's future allegiances should not cause Hodgson to rush the player's progress at England: read what he has to say here!
    • 18:50 Of course one of the big stories for England is that after some uncertainty over his fitness, Steven Gerrard WILL earn cap 100 tonight. Details on the landmark and further preview details are available in this fantastic scene-setting article we ran on Monday: Gerrard passed fit
    • 18:45 An interesting evening ahead for Roy Hodgson's England, with fresh faces aplenty and hopefully a signal or two of hope going forward from this otherwise-friendly contest. With Ibrahimovic leading the line and a thrilling Euro 2012 defeat to the Three Lions still fresh in the memory, however, Sweden will be confident of marking the new stadium with a win. Flashback: England 3-2 Sweden
    • 18:40 TEAMS - Sweden: Isaksson, Lustig, Granqvist, Jonas, Olsson, Martin Olsson, Elm, Kallstrom, Larsson, Kacaniklic, Ibrahimovic, Ranegie. • 18:30 Good evening and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE international matchcast as Sweden welcome an experimental England squad to the Friends Arena in Stockholm. The starting line-ups were formally announced late last night, so full team news will follow very shortly!
  • Summary

    • 90+2' Hart comes out of his area for a Sweden long ball... the header away is soft, though, and Ibra... Ibra... IBRA! Overhead kick into the open goal from 25 yards! What. A. Goal. Ibrahimovic 4, England 2!

  20. Michael.....I quite agree but to me England never were World Beaters and I was four years old in 1966 when we were World Champions and although you will never know I believe we only won the Cup because we were the Host nation. Wayne Rooney is the only world class player going forward with the bal.....l I think at times Gerrard tries to do too much work..... although England defend quite well and Hart is an excellent goalkeeper but if Hart gets hurt I don't really know what England will do and to think a few years ago England had the very best goalkeepers in the world remember Shilton and Clemence..... With the next World Cup in mind will Gerrard, and Ashley Cole still be playing for England.....I like Cole very much but he is over 30 years of age now he is arguably the best left back in the world
