90+1' That's it, full-time! Real Madrid have convincingly beaten Sporting Gijon 4-0 at El Molinon, courtesy of a brace from record-goalscorer Raul and strikes from Marcelo and Klaas Jan-Huntelaar. Thanks for joining us!
88' Sporting Gijon go agonisingly close to grabbing a consolation strike as Torres David Barral swivels and shoots against Casillas' far post with the keeper beaten - very unlucky.
85' Substitute Daniel Parejo brings a diving stop from Lafuente after Raul had got to the byline and squared the ball back to the edge of the area - he really should have done better from there, though.
79' The excellent Sergio Ramos is replaced by Daniel Parejo in Juande Ramos' final substitution.
76' GOAL!!! The record-breaking Raul doubles his tally with an opportunist tap-in after Gonzalo Higuain brought a save from Lafuente, 4-0!
72' Klaas Jan-Huntelaar has a potential second goal ruled offside after he headed home from Sergio Ramos' cross - the lack of protestations from the Dutchman speaks volumes.
71' Fernando Gago departs for Real Madrid to be replaced by Javi Garcia, after a whole-hearted display. Juande Ramos will have been mindful that the midfielder was becoming increasingly agitated by his opponents, so it was a wise move.
62' Torres replaces Heinze for Real Madrid as they make a change of their own. The second half has notably lacked the intensity of the first, with every neutral hoping for Gijon to make a game of this.
59' The home side make a double change as Gimenez Castro and Madera Michel, are replaced by Sergio Matabuena and Montoya Mateo - let's see if the fresh legs help their side get back into this game.
52' Gonzalo Higuain has a 40 yard race to the ball with Autet Gerard after Fabio Cannavaro's long ball into the corner, but both players are beaten by the pace of the ball. Marcelo is booked for unsporting behaviour.
49' GOAL!!! Marcelo scores a terrific goal to extend Real's lead! The winger was released by interplay between Higuain and Huntelaar, allowing him space to advance down the left and dink the ball nonchalantly over the onrushing Lafuente - an exquisite finish!
46' A footnote to Raul's goal in the 15th minute: that strike breaks Alfredo Di Stefano's Real Madrid goalscoring record - a fantastic achievement! The second half is underway at El Molinon, let's hope for more goals...
45+1' That's half-time and Real Madrid are deservedly two goals to the good after a commanding display. Both strikes, by Raul and Klaas Jan-Huntelaar were neatly dispatched and Juande Ramos will be delighted by his side's performance.
37' GOAL!!! Real double their lead through Klaas Jan-Huntelaar! The Dutchman raced through from Higuain's headed flick-on and cooly passed the ball beyond the diving Lafuente.
32' Klaas Jan-Huntelaar is fouled on the edge of the Gijon box by Soto Ivan Hernandez, but the referee wisely waves play on as Raul draws a fine save from Lafuente down low to his right.
25' Real have enjoyed 65 per cent of possession so far and the Gijon players are becoming increasingly frustrated, as shown by Madera Michel - who is booked for kicking the ball away petulantly.
21' Fernando Gago is lightly clipped by Sanchez Luis Moran in midfield and reacts as if he has been shot, writhing around in pain on halfway; but he is back on his feet as play resumes.
15' GOAL!!! Real take the lead after sustained pressure through Raul! The forward ghosted into the box to meet Ramos' cross crisply inside the area, leaving Lafuente helpless.
14' A glorious chance for Real goes begging as Sergio Ramos sprints down the right and delivers a pin-point cross to Miguel Higuain, but the striker mis-directs his header wide of Inaki Lafuente's near post.
1' We're underway at El Molinon and Real Madrid have Gonzalo Higuain leading the line, with Klaas Jan-Huntelaar and Raul in support.

A good game but you guys are still lacking. Barca is a better bet any time any day any year

man o man madrid are making a come back.. hope barca slipp up again.. i honestly think raul should be let back on to the national team. i mean i would pick him over guiza to start any day... plus they are letting beckham play on england so why not let raul play on spain. i mean raul could not expect to star but i believe with this new and improved spanish team he could still help them accomplish things. as you can see he is still reliable for madrid and torres and villa could use the help of a reliable striker.

BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO

Great win for Real- hope they can close the gap on Barca-Raul is the best & well done for the record!

oohh, nice. 8 consecutive wins, :) and the defence, omg, thank you juande ramos, europes best defence, in real madrid, pepe and cannavaro:) 15 - 1 in 8 matches. difference.

Raul is the best

iloveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee raul and real madrid nice game..... bravooooo the best playerss

comment 37. keep dreaming

get in madrid we gonna get u barca

praying god to be 5-0

No way can you blame Raul for that. Back then neither Torres, Villa, Ramos, Iniesta, Senna were the players they are today. If anything Raul was the only player that stood out.

Go real madrid. Thrash them out come on 0-5, hat trick 4 our legend

spain has always underperformed with raul. It's only when they dropped him that they won the Euro

why does real madrid keep playing the team that played Barcelona the week before. It doesn't seem fair after barcelona have tired them out for them.

I really hope Raul gets back in the Spanish national team. No one deserves it more than him.

raul's second goal..huhuu..
he is a legend..

i am glad that marcelo is back in form..

Juande Ramos has to stay beyond this year. With also the addition of Ronaldo next year will see Real destroy everyone

jaye robben va sneijer va van der vaart khaliye
