    • 90+1' That's it, full-time! Real Madrid have convincingly beaten Sporting Gijon 4-0 at El Molinon, courtesy of a brace from record-goalscorer Raul and strikes from Marcelo and Klaas Jan-Huntelaar. Thanks for joining us!
    • 90' There will be a minimum of one minute added at the end of this second half, with both sides playing out time at the moment.
    • 88' Sporting Gijon go agonisingly close to grabbing a consolation strike as Torres David Barral swivels and shoots against Casillas' far post with the keeper beaten - very unlucky.
    • 87' Pepe produces another of his trademark rampaging runs down the centre of the pitch, before he is finally hauled over by Roberto Suarez.
    • 85' Substitute Daniel Parejo brings a diving stop from Lafuente after Raul had got to the byline and squared the ball back to the edge of the area - he really should have done better from there, though.
    • 83' With the pace of the game now at walking pace, Real are contentedly passing the ball around, with Gijon reluctantly chasing fruitlessly.
    • 81' Sergio Matabuena drives an optimistic shot from wide on the edge of the Real box, which is actually deceptively close to Casillas' far post, but the keeper appeared to have it covered.
    • 79' The excellent Sergio Ramos is replaced by Daniel Parejo in Juande Ramos' final substitution.
    • 78' Pepe makes an important clearance on the edge of his box after Gonzalez Carmelo almost found himself with a clear run on goal.
    • 76' GOAL!!! The record-breaking Raul doubles his tally with an opportunist tap-in after Gonzalo Higuain brought a save from Lafuente, 4-0!
    • 74' Raul is frustrated by his strike partner, Gonzalo Higuain, who dribbles with his head down in the box, failing to see his captain in space and subsequently losing possession.
    • 72' Klaas Jan-Huntelaar has a potential second goal ruled offside after he headed home from Sergio Ramos' cross - the lack of protestations from the Dutchman speaks volumes.
    • 71' Fernando Gago departs for Real Madrid to be replaced by Javi Garcia, after a whole-hearted display. Juande Ramos will have been mindful that the midfielder was becoming increasingly agitated by his opponents, so it was a wise move.
    • 68' Fine game-reading by Fabio Cannavaro as his interception of Torres Barral's cross is perfectly timed with Bilic waiting in space behind him.
    • 66' As the game continues to be pretty scrappy at the moment, Pepe collides with Bilic in a heavyweight encounter, with both players angry at each other's physicality.
    • 64' Autet Gerard has his protestations cut short by referee Mateu Lahoz after the defender felt that Klaas Jan-Huntelaar won a corner by unfairly climbing over him.
    • 62' Torres replaces Heinze for Real Madrid as they make a change of their own. The second half has notably lacked the intensity of the first, with every neutral hoping for Gijon to make a game of this.
    • 59' The home side make a double change as Gimenez Castro and Madera Michel, are replaced by Sergio Matabuena and Montoya Mateo - let's see if the fresh legs help their side get back into this game.
    • 58' Mate Bilic is providing some much needed additional presence in the Gijon attack after replacing Sanchez Moran at half-time, but the deliveries up to the big man must be better.
    • 55' Fernando Gago, not for the first time in this game, has a confrontation with one of the Gijon players, this time it is Diego Camacho; the referee just ignores them both.
    • 52' Gonzalo Higuain has a 40 yard race to the ball with Autet Gerard after Fabio Cannavaro's long ball into the corner, but both players are beaten by the pace of the ball. Marcelo is booked for unsporting behaviour.
    • 49' GOAL!!! Marcelo scores a terrific goal to extend Real's lead! The winger was released by interplay between Higuain and Huntelaar, allowing him space to advance down the left and dink the ball nonchalantly over the onrushing Lafuente - an exquisite finish!
    • 49' Mate Bilic has replaced Sanchez Luis Moran as Sporting Gijon look to get back into this match.
    • 48' Pepe begins the second half as brightly as he did the first: the defender cutting past Diego Castro and charging up the field, before passing the ball out to Marcelo on the left.
    • 46' A footnote to Raul's goal in the 15th minute: that strike breaks Alfredo Di Stefano's Real Madrid goalscoring record - a fantastic achievement! The second half is underway at El Molinon, let's hope for more goals...
    • 45+1' That's half-time and Real Madrid are deservedly two goals to the good after a commanding display. Both strikes, by Raul and Klaas Jan-Huntelaar were neatly dispatched and Juande Ramos will be delighted by his side's performance.
    • 45' Neat interplay between Marcelo and Gonzalo Higuain in the Sporting Gijon half almost opens up a decent opportunity, but Autet Gerard buys a free kick off referee Mateu Lahoz to alleviate the danger. One minute to be added.
    • 43' A positive run by Torres Barral almost catches Gabriel Heinze out of position, but the Argentine recovers well to dispossess the Sporting Gijon forward.
    • 41' Pepe makes a fine challenge as Gonzalez Carmelo storms into the Real box at pace - the Portugese's tackle had to be impeccably timed.
    • 39' A superb dipping effort from Fernando Gago almost tests Lafuente from 25 yards but drifts narrowly over the bar - the keeper would have been struggling.
    • 37' GOAL!!! Real double their lead through Klaas Jan-Huntelaar! The Dutchman raced through from Higuain's headed flick-on and cooly passed the ball beyond the diving Lafuente.
    • 36' Another weaving run by Marcelo draws challenges from Suarez and Moran, before finally Hernandez makes a telling tackle.
    • 34' Fine work from Lassana Diarra as the midfielder beats Camacho and Michel in midfield, before releasing Marcelo down the left; Juande Ramos is looking anxious as his side hold only a slender lead.
    • 32' Klaas Jan-Huntelaar is fouled on the edge of the Gijon box by Soto Ivan Hernandez, but the referee wisely waves play on as Raul draws a fine save from Lafuente down low to his right.
    • 30' Pepe does well to clear with Torres David Barral threatening from a dangerous position inside the box.
    • 29' There is a big furore as Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Carmelo and Diego Castro engage in a shouting match inside the box after a Sporting Gijon corner kick - the referee takes no action.
    • 27' The extent of the visitor's dominance is exemplified by the position of their full-backs, Sergio Ramos and Gabriel Heinze, who have barely found themselves defending yet in this game.
    • 25' Real have enjoyed 65 per cent of possession so far and the Gijon players are becoming increasingly frustrated, as shown by Madera Michel - who is booked for kicking the ball away petulantly.
    • 23' Raul is fouled by Autet Gerard down the Sporting left and Ramos will be looking to whip in a dangerous cross from this position.
    • 21' Fernando Gago is lightly clipped by Sanchez Luis Moran in midfield and reacts as if he has been shot, writhing around in pain on halfway; but he is back on his feet as play resumes.
    • 19' Sporting Gijon have barely seen the ball since the goal, with Real relentlessly keeping possession; Juande Ramos is a thoroughly contented man on the touchline.
    • 17' Sergio Ramos has caused havoc down the right and the home side have failed to close him down effectively; the wing-back delivers another cross which Higuain misses, but the danger remains, despite the goal.
    • 15' GOAL!!! Real take the lead after sustained pressure through Raul! The forward ghosted into the box to meet Ramos' cross crisply inside the area, leaving Lafuente helpless.
    • 14' A glorious chance for Real goes begging as Sergio Ramos sprints down the right and delivers a pin-point cross to Miguel Higuain, but the striker mis-directs his header wide of Inaki Lafuente's near post.
    • 12' Real mount a good spell of pressure but Klaas Jan-Huntelaar finds himself wide out on the right and crosses to no-one in the box.
    • 10' A short corner is taken by the hosts as Gonzalez Carmelo looks to whip in a cross from the left, but Sergio Ramos clears the danger.
    • 8' Fernando Gago battles fiercely with Diego Camacho in midfield, but both lose out as the ball drifts out for a throw in; the tempo of the game is very high, with Gijon looking positive.
    • 5' Iker Casillas storms off his line to clear Madera Michel's through ball to Torres Barral - very sharp keeping from Spain's No 1.
    • 4' All the play so far has been down the Sporting Gijon right as Marcelo and Raul combine fluently, with Gabriel Heinze linking up whenever possible.
    • 2' A long raking ball from Sergio Ramos releases the pacey Marcelo down the left wing and the midfielder wins an early corner for the visitors.
    • 1' We're underway at El Molinon and Real Madrid have Gonzalo Higuain leading the line, with Klaas Jan-Huntelaar and Raul in support.

  3. man o man madrid are making a come back.. hope barca slipp up again.. i honestly think raul should be let back on to the national team. i mean i would pick him over guiza to start any day... plus they are letting beckham play on england so why not let raul play on spain. i mean raul could not expect to star but i believe with this new and improved spanish team he could still help them accomplish things. as you can see he is still reliable for madrid and torres and villa could use the help of a reliable striker.
