  1. It's great to see that Eastwood saved a penalty and then pulled off a few other excellent saves to keep Coventry at bay. Respect to GW for sticking with him and with The Legend for his goalkeeping coaching. Hopefully the crowd will get off his back now. Only 4 points away from Scunny now.

  2. In closing talking about clubs spending too much in an effort to compete at the highest level at one point and it may be hearsay but I believe it ti be true Leeds United were losing a million pounds a week (50 million in a year)

  3. Im unsure how this deduction thing works If Pompey manage to avoid relegation on points and do not come out of administration before the end of the season do they stay up? So what would be the best option for them, stay in league 1 with a -10 point deduction or drop to league 2 with a clean slate? I suppose the worst case is to be relegated to div 2 without coming out of administration and starting there with -10 points?

  4. It would be good if Pompey could get enough points to avoid automatic relegation so the only way the could be relegated is by the 10 point reduction. At least that way they wouldn't start on -10 points next season. Or would the FL just take another 10 points off because they hate Pompey?

  5. John.....I remember Portsmouth beating Cardiff in the Cup Final and a great day it was one of the best in my life but after winning the cup the challenge is then to achieve more success against clubs with a (much) larger budget.....In that team some of the players must have earned a lot of money and it was as it proved since impossible or difficult anyway for Portsmouth to sustain that wage bill and success over a long period and I say this even though Pompey reached the final again only to be beaten by Chelsea.....Portsmouth are a big club in League One and I had hoped for better this season in view of recent success in the FA Cup and in a way in terms of money Southampton are not much different and I say this because if players like (and excuse my spelling) Oxlaide Chamberlain and Wallcott were available in the open market there is no way Saints could afford to bring these players back to the club

  9. Jonathan Banks.....You must be the daughter your parents always wanted.....I wish you would keep your comments to football.....In closing and on a lighter note I actually live in the North West area of England (now) and last weekend I was quite happy (I was made up) Southampton beat Liverpool

  11. it seems the sale of Pompey to the supporters is imminent now but this is not certain until the Court case..... Coventry too are in a bad way financially and it would seem their problems are due in no small part to the club moving to a new stadium because Coventry owe their Landlords money.....Not so very long ago these two clubs were in the Premier League.....Other clubs should beware now of what happened to Pompey because we spent too much money in an effort to compete I say this even though players like Glenn Johnson were probably sold at a profit after he had previously been playing youth and reserve team football at West ham and Chelsea.....The way to go for Portsmouth and other clubs now is to 'breed' their own young players
