    • 90' That's the final whistle and Barca will leave the Camp Nou very happy. Despite some defensive scares Barca played some liquid football going forward and had the magic of Xavi and Iniesta to thank for pulling the strings in the middle of the park.
    • 89' Rayo attempt to break and grab a consolation but they've run out of ideas and time. A real shame- their play has deserved a goal but their finishing hasn't been good enough.
    • 87' Messi jinks through another series of challenges and sets up Pique but the defender's control lets him down and is cleared by Cobeno.
    • 85' Again too casual from Barcelona at the back as Valdes is forced to chip a clearance into touch as the home side look to pass out the remaining 5 minutes.
    • 84' Pique joins his keeper in the book for contesting with the ref too much.
    • 82' Barca are still closing down, still pressing and still hungry for goals. Valdes is now booked for time wasting when collecting the ball. A tad harsh from the referee.
    • 80' Corner to the home side which they pass out. it should be five as Villa fails to connect with a clipped Fabregas cross infront of goal.
    • 79' Seconds later Tamudo reacts to Valdes fumbling a long range Michu strike but his attempts to prod home an equaliser are stopped byt the ref for fouling Valdes.
    • 78' Michu relieves the pressure for the away side, connecting with a cross from the right but his header is easily gathered by Valdes.
    • 77' Nearly is your answer. Messi skips along the edge of the area and flashes a shot across the turf from left to right but his effort glides past the post to Rayo's relief.
    • 76' 10 Barca players are camped in the Rayo half, it really is turning into a training ground session but can Barca add to the tally?
    • 75' Messi sprints forward from the halfway line. He is hauled down by a clutter of Rayo players and the ball falls to Dani Alves who blazes over from the edge of the area.
    • 74' Guardiola will be very satisfied that he has been able to rest Xavi and Iniesta but ahead of the El Classico on the 10th he will want to work defensively.
    • 72' The home side continue to spray the ball around the park and any injection of pace forces mistakes in Rayo's back line but his contest is dwindling out at the moment.
    • 70' Barca take off double scorer Alexis, who receives a great ovation from the crowd, for Adriano.
    • 69' That should have been 5-0. Villa escapes his marker and lobs the oncoming Cobeno but it loops just over the bar.
    • 68' Final change for Rayo as Piti comes on for Bangoura.
    • 67' Barcelona have been far too casual at the back tonight. Against a better and more clinical side they would have been punished.
    • 66' Barca have completely slowed down the pace as they look to cruise to another home victory. Will it be a record 12 without conceding at home?
    • 64' Messi glides past a string of Rayo players to pull out a beautiful pass for Villa which forces Cobeno out to palm wide. The corner is cleared easily by the away side but Barca are looming large in their half once again.
    • 63' Rayo threaten down the right but fail to find the incisive shot and some decent Barca defending prevents any attempt at goal.
    • 61' Villa goes shoulder to shoulder with Arribas in the area but loses out- no penalty despite the calls from the crowd. He did infact have his arms over Villa's shoulder so it could have easily been given.
    • 60' Sumptuous passing from Barca forces several last ditch tackles from the Rayo back line on the edge of their area but they manage to clear for now.
    • 58' The game has lost its tempo in the second half but Rayo look hungry to reduce the deficit.
    • 57' Another chance for the away side and this time for Tamudo who meets a floated cross in the air on the right but his volley flashes past the diving Valdes and wide for a goal kick.
    • 56' Another break in play as Keita's robust challenge floors Botelho
    • 54' Guardiola is saving his prized assests for another day- Fabregas comes on for the superb Iniesta.
    • 53' Subs galore now. Fuego comes off for the away side and is replaced by Rafa Garcia. For Barcelona Xavi strides off to be replaced by Thiago.
    • 52' The man of the moment Alexis Sanchez earns Barca a corner near the Rayo byline but the danger is easily cleared.
    • 50' Everytime now that Barcelona break there are gaps at the back for Rayo. The pace is electrifying but Rayo must be more solid to prevent an embarrassment.
    • 49' 4-0 Barca and you guessed it- Messi strikes again. The Argentine turns one marker, out muscles a second to speed into the 6 yard box and slot past Cobeno from an acute angle. What a run by Messi, who had been relatively quiet tonight.
    • 47' Movilla is sent tumbling from a Keita challenge and Alves rolls on the floor from a Garrido aerial challenge. Obviously both recover immediately.
    • 46' Back under way at the Camp Nou. Rayo Vallecano bring on Tamudo in place of Michel.
    • 45' A tough team talk in the away dressing room. They played reasonably well for the majority of the half but fell asleep at crucial times to allow Barca to waltz through and assert their dominance.
    • 44' Alves is hacked down and Jordi Figeras is booked for his troubles.
    • 42' Pique surges through the middle and some more intricate passing immediately adds to Rayo's misery. Pique played in Alves on the right of the box and he squares for Villa to tap in the third. This could be a thrashing if Rayo don't compose themselves, that was far too easy.
    • 40' 2-0 to Barca! Alexis again on the end of another slick move but it's unfortunate for Rayo. A through ball to Xavi deflects off his heals into Alexis' path 12 yards out on the left and he pokes the ball into the bottom corner to double the lead.
    • 38' Slack play from Alves enables Botelho to sprint down the left. Alves has his blushes saved by Xavi who tracks back and shields the ball out for a corner.
    • 36' A break in play as Iniesta has his ankle raked by Michel. The playmaker is in a lot of discomfort but continues.
    • 34' Dani Alves pulls away in disgust as he concedes a freekick deep in Barca's half. Bangoura is allowed plenty of room to turn on the edge of the area but his effort fails to challenge Valdes.
    • 32' Michel down the other end has a great chance. He receives the ball 12 yards out but flashes a half volley over the bar under pressure from Keita. Let off for the home side.
    • 31' An intricate 1-2 between Messi and Iniesta plays in the Argentine but his effort is blasted into the left side netting from an acute angle.
    • 30' That goal has stretched the game again as spaces open up across the park. Can Rayo keep pressurising for 90 minutes?
    • 29' That's a sublime goal from Alexis Sanchez. A lovely Messi run creates space for Barca's front line and Xavi slots Alexis through to free space on the left. He cuts inside his marker and curls a delicious effort into the top far corner from the edge of the area. Barca lead 1-0.
    • 27' Unfortunately dramatics are starting to occur at the Camp Nou with Keita flying to the floor after minimal contact. Let's hope this doesn't continue.
    • 26' Iniesta conjures up a yard of space on the edge of Rayo's area but his effort skims over the bar.
    • 25' Valdes punches clear and Alexis gets hauled to the ground from a resulting attack.
    • 24' Rayo Vallecano have enjoyed a spell of possession but are struggling to penetrate the back line. Pique gives away a corner, having to halt the direct Bangoura.
    • 22' The resulting corner causes no problems for Barca but Rayo are showing signs of belief.
    • 21' Freekick to the away side has to be tipped onto the bar by Valdes as Michel's effort loops over everyone. He did't need to touch it but nearly scored a bizarre own goal.
    • 20' Villa and Iniesta are interchanging well tonight as Guardiola looks on in a calm manner. He must be satisfied by the way his side have recovered from that shaky start
    • 18' A sensational piece of football. Valdes clears to Iniesta on the half volley. The nippy Spaniard controls and lobs the ball over the top for Villa but it's called offside. That's a bad decision and Villa should have been allowed to go on.
    • 17' Iniesta is lively on his return, nearly playing himself in on goal in the Rayo area but the away side manage to clear.
    • 16' Despite a promising start Rayo Vallecano are having to soak up more and more pressure with most players in their own half.
    • 15' Cobeno is forced into action as Barca begin to dominate- having to parry away a Dani Alves strike.
    • 12' Messi has started very deep and plays in Dani Alves through the heart of the away side's defence but the full back is offside.
    • 10' That's the first we've seen of Messi. He glides past a few defenders and earns a corner but it's wasted by Xavi who attempts to find a teammate on the edge of the area.
    • 9' Rayo are doing all the pressing as Valdes is forced into a long hopeful ball forward and Iniesta loses possession with a searching pass. Barca seem a bit rattled by Rayo's start.
    • 7' The frantic start continues and Barca haven't been allowed to settle into their rhythm yet.
    • 6' The Catalans surge forward and Alexis Sanchez is played through on the right but his poor cross fails to find a teammate. He's been struggling recently and is certainly a surprise inclusion in the starting line up.
    • 5' The away side are keen to press their hosts but have already given Messi too much room. Messi has 15 league goals this season, a total equal to the entire Rayo Vallecano squad. The majestic Messi has also averaged two goals a league game at the Camp Nou this season, hitting 14 goals in 7 matches.
    • 4' A floated ball from the left finds Bangoura free 8 yards out but his stretched volley finds the side netting. A very open start to proceedings tonight.
    • 2' Straight down the other end, Iniesta spots Cobeno off his line and attempts a half volley from half way. A stunning effort which forces a corner but Rayo clear the danger. What a pulsating start.
    • 1' Chance for the away side immediately as Fuego capitalises on a poor clearance to fire a shot just over the bar from 30 yards.
    • 20:00 Here we go! After some very warm handshakes Rayo Vallecano get us under way playing from right to left . Rayo Vallecano might seem the underdogs tonight but they've only lost two of their last 8 games against Barcelona- big game for Barca!
    • 19:55 Five minutes to go here at the Camp Nou until play starts. Here's a little gem for you- Barcelona love the midweek clashes. They have never lost in La Liga on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at home, winning 39 and drawing 16.
    • 19:50 Tonight is exactly a year since Barca recorded a famous 5-0 win over their bitter rivals Real Madrid in the El Classico at Camp Nou. Guardiola will be hoping Messi and co can replicate that stunning form as so far this is Barca's worst start to a league season under Guardiola.
    • 19:45 Barcelona can become the first side in La Liga history to go 11 consecutive games at home without conceding. However the Catalans are susceptible to struggling against newly promoted sides, having dropped points against each of the three newly-promoted sides last season.
    • 19:40 Pep Guardiola welcomes back the inspirational Andres Iniesta to the starting line up having missed two games with a thigh injury and Fabregas returns to the squad on the bench alongside Carlos Puyol.
