South Korea took their first Olympic football medal with a 2-0 win over rivals Japan in a play-off for bronze. More
90+7 That's it and Britain are through to the quarter-finals! Stuart Pearce embraces Oscar Tabarez (that sounds weird on so many levels) and GB top the group - Senegal have been held by UAE. GB play South Korea, Senegal face Mexico. And Uruguay - so disappointing - join Spain on the scrapheap.
90+6 Now Uruguay have a free-kick after Suarez is caught, 25 yards out... Britain through whatever happens, but concede and they may come second. All a bit complicated. A sub to waste time as Sturridge applauds the crowd, Dawson on.
90+5 RAMIREZ HITS THE BAR! The only thing he's done all game, a fantastic shot from 30 yards! Off the angle of post and bar.
90+2 A booking for a GB player for time-wasting. Ramsey I think.
90+1 Suarez tries to skin Richards but the ball spins away and behind for a goal kick. GB SUB: Cork replaces Sinclair.
87' GB on the counter from that free-kick! They have men over as Sturridge races away on the right! He has Rose with him but ignores the Spurs man and shoots but tipped behind for a corner! Good save.
83' Britain retain possession and now Arias goes in two-footed on Ramsey and is lucky to only see yellow! Lodeiro also booked for chucking the ball away.
78' TEAM GB SUB: Bellamy gets an ovation from his people, hugs Richards as he passes the armband. The ref gets across to prevent Cavani from kicking off with Bellamy, who is furious. He was passing the armband and has a point. Rose on for the Welshman.
75' Ramirez with the free-kick but straight to the head of Cleverley. Now Cavani on the leftm superb cross and Ramirez heads it down for Suarez flying in but surely a handball? Yes, and a booking.
66' GB counter well again, Bellamy to Cleverley, now Ramsey wide to Sinclair... Uruguay have men back to Britain pass it backwards before Taylor picks it up, down the right for him and he cuts inside before unleashing a superb curling effort with his left foot! Just wide.
65' Great save Butland as Suarez drills a low shot to the bottom right, Cavani on the rebound but side netting from a tight angle! The match is opening up.
60' URUGUAY SUB: Lodeiro on for Viudez.
53' Somehow Britain deny Suarez as Butland flies out to block at Suarez's feet after he skins three defenders!
51' Finally the ball is mout of play and Coates is booked for that foul on Cleverley. Challenges flying in from Uruguay.
47' SINCLAIR OFF THE POST FROM ONE YARD OUT! Ah but Bellamy's brilliant right-wing cross for the Sturridge knock-down spun an inch out of play. Flag was up.
46' The second half is underway. Terrible backpass from Richards that bounces up for Butland, who shanks it away for a throw.
45+2 Hint of offside about that? Not sure. A long ball finds Suarez who brings it down superbly but hammers the volley well wide from an angle. Half time.
45+1 GOAL BRITAIN! Swansea connection as Sinclar and Allen do brilliantly down the left, the former skisp away down the wing, feeding Allen who leaves two defenders for dead with a superb turn in the box before sliding the ball across for Sturridge to tap in. Fine goal!
39' Corner to GB after Ramsey almost gets on to Bellamy's low cross. One of the Uruguay players, Rodriguez, is hurt and Ramsey beckons the medics on. Gash to the head, bit of claret.
38' Cavani and Rodriguez combine nicely but good defending from Caulker. Ramirez hacks down Bellamy as he looked to counter, booking.
35' Havoc from the corner, Uruguay think it hit Sturridge's arm, the ref says chest and waves it away!
30' Great block from Richards on Suarez as Uruguay slice Britain open at the back. Butland pounces on the rebound.
28' Britain attack, Bellamy inside to Ramsey in the box on the right and he drills a low shot across goal but just wide!
21' Taylor with a hefty tackle on Viudez, late and a booking.
15' Great chance for the Brits as the corner causes problems but eventually the Uruguayans scramble it clear! Everyone missed it, Richards was in there as was Sturridge.

no giggs....good!!!
Apologies, for my earlier post. Just anoyed that NI or the Highlanders did not take an interest in the game.
Phillip cooze i know my history and u are correct in saying that but if we can't ever stop showing decent to one another it'll only spread just like a rotten apple, let them say what ever but don't blame one nation coz lets face it it doesn't matter where we come from or who was here first, what counts the most is solidarity and let the rotten apple rot till it's no more, makes me lol coz when we fight side by side in the army we die for one another, so i think its just angry words and nowt more, but then the rest of the world see's it and it f@cks us up even more,!!! We are neighbors!!!!
agree with get rid of politics and bankers and wot a great place great Britain wd be
And it's only politics to the morons who dislike one another coz of our dif nationality,
i just agreed with u anthony its only about the bad press we have off the english that bothers us and the arrogance if you look through history the wels was the first british colonies tanken over by a german tribe called angle hence where enland derived cymru am byth
@ anthony totally agree enuf said
And @ Phillip Cooze ur no better u pr@ck stirring up hatred just as much as others, f@ck off u trouble maker and joke on a gobstopper u muppet
@ sammyg take a look at any of them lot singing and not one of them was putting in any effort simply because the far majority want away with royalty and that's including us english. !!!!,,it's about time we all made a dif anthem and all pulled together and stop all the spiteful comments directed at opposing football teams and other countries here in the uk and get behind everyone and have some solidarity which has never been seen before, and by doing that show our parents and there parents we don't want all this sh@te between us . !!!and then and only then can we call ourselves !!!!!great britain
you english think great britain is full of english you even call our great britsh breakfast english how can it be english when the sausage's come from ireland black pudding comes from scotland eggs from wales tomatoes from italy bacon from denmark beans from usa even the tea is from bloody china lol typical english takes all the credit for which is obviously a team effort you even won the 2 great wars single handed with no help off the celts makes me larf
I guess a deal was struck. We need to create team GB. Wales, when did you last feature on the world cup. How about you try it for free as team GB under the Olympic logo. Fair representation stinks. Some good players in there, fairly good results achieved. But, it has all been politics.
Forgive them, they know not what they do.
allan respect to you m8 from a fellow great brit (welshman)
yeah tipical ... will b beat english manger
bring on the women total #$%$ team gb never been seen a football team so bad criiiiiiinge
TEAM CB Craig Bellamy RESPECT! You've been awesome! (from and Englishman)
I would say after these performances by Jack Butland that Joe Harte should be looking over his shoulder.
Amazes me why Stuart Pearce didn't get the England job after enabling his players to have control of the ball and getting 100% out of them playing attractive football as it should be played, And about the only guy there not up to it is Richards lol say's a lot for woys team dun it hohoho.!!!!!! COME ON GB
After all the Terry/Ferdinand trouble, I'm surprised they gave Richards an armband to wear with a big black 'C' on it!! Ha!Ha!
Where are all the posters who were on here before a ball was kicked who said we wouldn't win a match
