Kaka move would be madness

Wed Jan 14 12:12PM

I hope for Manchester City's sake that they do not sign Kaka. I think it would be damaging to the club and to the wider game.

I've got a lot of respect for Kaka, who is a wonderful player, but I'm afraid I would lose that respect if he accepted a move to City.

If you are Milan, it is hard to turn down £90 million for one player, but I simply can't imagine why Kaka would go through with it.

He is meant to be a religious man, a family man; somebody who is concerned with more than money and is not a mercenary. Surely common sense must tell him that you do not leave AC Milan for Manchester City.

Robinho joining City was crazy enough - this would take it to a whole new level and send out a terrible message that money rules everything in football.

When I signed for Manchester United I could have joined Tottenham, the club I supported as a boy. I would have been paid more money and been able to keep living close to home in Essex. Plus it was a glamorous team managed by Terry Venables.

But I wanted to play for the biggest and best-supported club in the country, where I thought I could achieve something - and I was lucky that I coincided with the start of United's success.

I didn't cheat myself by taking the easy way out, and Kaka would be cheating himself if he took the money and moved to a club that is desperate and volatile.

I can't imagine what Mark Hughes makes of all this. I know Sparky well and you can be sure that it is not his idea.

Mark was a talented player but it was his determination and work ethic that made him special - that was the ethos he took to Blackburn and that he is trying to introduce at City.

This is not the Mark Hughes way. He is being forced into it by people who are treating the club as a toy. It's about telling their mates they can get Kaka to play for their club.

There is a risk that after a while they will get bored and want to do something different. I sincerely hope they are serious about the club and want to make a long-term commitment.

City should concentrate on shoring up their defence - as they did with the signing of Wayne Bridge - and helping Richard Dunne and Micah Richards rediscover their form.

The pursuit of Kaka undermines all that and jeopardises the stability in the dressing-room. How would Stephen Ireland feel about it? He has come through the ranks and been far and away City's best player this season. But there is no way you could play him, Robinho and Kaka in the same team.

In any case, it wouldn't be the same Kaka we see playing for Milan and Brazil. It's like putting a Rolls Royce engine into a Honda Civic.

  1. Buy who you like sh?ty fans..you will always be second to the real manchester team so you should accept it ,no matter who you buy your always gonna be NO2 in manchester..ALL THE BEST REGARDS STEVE LOL

  2. Parker once again showing his lack of brain~~~~~

First~ Are you implying that Hughs don't want Kaka to play in his starting line-up??? I wonder which manager on earth don't want him to be in his team sheet~ he should be grateful if he is given such a talent~

Second~ The Honda engines are producing the most powerful engines under limited engine capcity~ and the new honda civic is lapping faster than many genuine sports car (even faster than cars like the Aston Martin Vanquish V12) on the top gear track.

  7. I think splashing money around is not a good incentive for players or the wider game, but if u have it u spend it, and thats if ur bid will be accepted, KAKA is ageing and if he thinks Man City is a big enough club for him and coupled with the outrageous pay packet, then he should come n join in d fun in d premiership.

Liverpool have spend around £300 mil trying to recapture past glories - no one moans, MAnure spend £27 mil on Veron and £30 mil on Weoo, 12 months after Leeds bought him for £12 mil, no one says a thing. They spend £30 million on a Berbatove - (after we'ed bumped the price up) for a 28 year old - oh and they will get £90 mil for Tranaldo in the summer or will they turn it down so they dont 'ruin' football - Martin Samuel is the only pundit with anything valid to say on this subject - the rest is bilge.

  15. Parker seems to be wearing his old Utd hat here with his views on Kaka to Man City, just how much has MU spent over the past 10 years on players for around £20m plus, on the likes of Rio, Veron, RVN and Wayne Rooney ( just to name a few ), and only this season they have spent around £50million on three players.
Utd are hundreds of millions in debt and yet still they try and buy the title with money borrowed from the banks, at least City, and come to that Chelsea, use money earned by their owners.

  16. Give me a break. Kaká to City is like Messi to Palermo or C.Ronaldo to Mallorca - never gonna happen. So dream on Cityfans - this is not football manager. It's beyond naive, to think otherwise. I can understand your excitement over all that money at your disposal, but Kaká already earns plenty at Milan and is giving loads to charity. Clearly money isn't an issue for him, he said so himself yesterday. And what else can City offer him - nothing!!!

The amounts being banded around are in fact mental but if they are trying to create something great which is all good for the premiership (apart from the fact everyone might have to start paying more to players that get handsome £ already and presumably push ticket prices up) then let the club get on with it, hes a great player and perhaps not a bad role model to kids learning the game so good look to them creating something to challenge for champions league and has to good for Manchester in general

  22. I have to agree with Paul on this as there's no way the money offered for Kaka is coming from the clubs finances, i doubt if Man City ever had anywhere near that kind of money in their accounts, this is clearly being funded by the owners own personal wealth, if Kaka has any sense he'll reject this move & stay exactly where he is at
