    • Chelsea
    • 90+3' All over at Goodison and Chelsea have grabbed a vital three points. They were far from convincing, but to be fair the better side. Everton created next to nothing.
    • 88' The game appears to be fading away from Everton here, but then Wigan were in a similar position on Monday and look what happened. Somehow I can't see a repeat.
    • 84' Fernandes fouls Ashley Cole deep in Chelsea territory. Silly challenge really, Everton are enjoying a good spell of pressure.
    • 81' Wright-Phillips makes way for Claude Makelele - Grant is happy with his lot by the seems of it and wants to shore up his back four.
    • 79' Essien is ok. Chelsea break, but Kalou's cross is poor.
    • 77' Joe Cole is replaced by Florent Malouda. Meanwhile, Terry is up and fine, but Essien is down - he appears to be in some pain.
    • 75' Essien with a long-range speculative effort. Not far away. Howard was off his line.
    • 71' Joe Cole wastes possession, and Everton break...almost a chance before Terry intercepts. The Chelsea skipper gets hurt in the process.
    • 67' Free-kick to Everton, right on the edge of the box. FERNANDES CURLS ONE...JUST WIDE!!
    • 62' Double change for Everton. Johnson and Pienaar make way for Victor Anichebe and Thomas Graveson. Interesting move from Moyes.
    • 57' Ferreira picks up a yellow card. Free-kick to Everton right on the edge of Chelsea's box. Danger.
    • 52' Johnson gets in behind Terry and looks for a moment to be clean through. That man Carvalho cleans up neatly.
    • 50' Chelsea have started the better, they look hungry to kill this game off.
    • 48' Neville sends a long hopeful ball for Johnson, but it's a little too long and a good deal too hopeful.
    • 46' And we're under way in the second half. No changes yet from either side.
    • 45+1' Half-time at Goodison and Chelsea have a vital goal, and a vital lead. Everton are not out of this by any means, but they need to show a little more ambition to get a goal back.
    • 45' Fernandes with a decent low shot, which Cech comfortably saves.
    • 41' CHELSEA LEAD!!! Essien drives forward, exchanges passes with Wright-Phillips on the edge of the box and steers a shot past Howard to put the visitors ahead. The return pass from Wright-Phillips took a deflection, which placed it perfectly into Essien's path.
    • 39' Tim Howard is still yet to be called into action for Everton. Cech with that solitary save from Fernandes. The game is lacking penetration.
    • 35' Rapid break from Chelsea. Essien finds Wright-Phillips in space, only for Jagielka to block his shot with a well-timed challenge just inside the box.
    • 34' Corner for Everton on their left. John Terry leaps to head clear. But Everton come at Chelsea again. Finally Cech gathers.
    • 31' Penalty shout from Everton. Lescott did well to find Carsley 12 yards out, but Essien stuck out a leg and denied him. The referree got it right.
    • 29' Pienaar fouls Ferreira and Chelsea have a free-kick on their right, deep in Everton's half. Joe Cole's cross goes straight into the wall.
    • 25' The game's got a touch scrappy mid-way through the first half. Chelsea are enjoying territorial advantage, but they've yet to fashion a genuine opening.
    • 23' Lovely play from Everton, which Carvalho stunts with a late lunge on Joleon Lescott. Yellow card.
    • 21' Anelka cuts inside and unleashes...what can only be described as a pearoller.
    • 16' That's the closest we've come to a goal. Manual Fernandes takes aim with a 25-yard free-kick and Cech is forced to palm behind for a corner. On second view it was a fairly weak strike, and the Chelsea keeper rather made a meal of it.
    • 15' Johnson barges Mikel out of the way far too easily and wins Everton a corner. Chelsea clear.
    • 12' Ashley Cole wins Chelsea ANOTHER corner. Another poor delivery and Carvalho can't quite get to it to head back across goal.
    • 10' Joe Cole slides a pass into Wright-Phillips and the winger wins his side a corner...which sails over everyone in the box.
    • 8' Pienaar robs Ashley Cole - who's had a shaky start - but loses possession deep in the Chelsea half. Phil Neville with some nice early touches for Everton - did you see the pictures of his house? Mmmm.
    • 6' Chelsea look sharp and lively so far, Everton are on the defensive.
    • 4' Salomon Kalou squares for Wright-Phillips...his shot is deflected behind for the first corner of the evening. Lee Carsley heads clear.
    • 2' Joe Cole wins a throw on the right, Everton clear comfortably.
    • 1' And we're under way on Merseyside, with Chelsea in their bright yellow and Everton in familiar blue.
    • - Steven Pienaar will start for Everton, and David Moyes has decided the Yak needs grazing - he starts upfront with Andrew Johnson.
    • - Well well. No place for Michael Ballack in the Chelsea line-up, or on the bench. Shaun Wright-Phillips starts on the right, Joe Cole on the left. It's an attacking team, but possibly lacking in steel for such a key game.
    • - CHELSEA TEAM NEWS: Kalou and Anelka to start, Didier Droba is OUT.
    • - Everton, meanwhile, are five points behind Liverpool in fourth.
    • - Chelsea lie five points behind leaders Manchester United with four games to play, although United have yet to visit Stamford Bridge, where the Blues are unbeaten for over 80 league games.
    • - EVERTON TEAM NEWS: Mikel Arteta and Leon Osman are both expected to miss out, along with Tim Cahill.
    • - CHELSEA TEAM NEWS: Frank Lampard is definitely out, due to his mother's illness. Joe Cole, Ashley Cole and Ricardo Carvalho are all set to return after being left out of the starting line-up against Wigan on Monday. Petr Cech continues in goal.
    • - This one is set up very nicely indeed. Chelsea surely must win to keep alive their Premier League title hopes, while Everton will still believe they can catch Liverpool in fourth if they get all three points tonight.
