  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • Wigan Athletic
    • Sunderland
    • 90' And the game ends with a whimper - Wigan have won 3-0 and they really deserved it - Roy Keane will NOT be happy with that performance - thanks for joining us for our coverage.
    • 83' Nearly an own goal for Sunderland - Collins stuck a foot out to try and clear a cross from Koumas but instead he nearly put it into his own net but Gordan managed to save. Cries of "ole" from the home fans as Wigan play the ball around with some class.
    • 78' Two changes for Wigan - Sibierski and Folan have earned themselves rests and have come off in quick succesion - Folan and Aghahowa are the men who have come on.
    • 75' Wigan look happy to just sit back now - they are allowing Sunderland to have plenty of possession but the Black Cats can't do anything with it.
    • 69' AND WIGAN HAVE GONE 3-0 UP - ANOTHER PENALTY THIS TIME SIBIERSKI. Again no doubt that it was a penalty as Russell Anderson (who came on for McShane) chopped down Heskey - it is turing into a disasterous day for Roy Keane's men.
    • 62' WIGAN HAVE GONE 2-0 up!!!! A penalty from Denny Landzaat - he sends Craig Gordon the wrong way - no doubt about the penalty either - Collins had his hands all over Sibierski with the Welshman only being in the centre because McShane was still off having treatment.
    • 58' Paul McShane with a bloody head after a clash of heads with Sibierski.
    • 54' Sunderland are pressing in the early stages of this half - Liam Miller has made an impact already - he has crossed to the back post where Ross Wallace was but his shot was deflected wide by Granqvist.
    • 50' Murphy almost gets on the end of cross at the back post but he can't get the ball back in play.
    • 48' Koumas tries his luck from a free kick from around 35 yards out but that is straight at Gordan.
    • 46 It is Stokes and Yorke who have made way.
    • 46' Two changes at half-time for Sunderland - Miller and Collins have come on - still waiting to see who came off.
    • 45' And there is the half-time whistle - Wigan deserve their lead - Heskey has been the main man throughout that half - Roy Keane will be having words.
    • 42' Ball drops out to Sibierski outside the box but he can't get a proper contact on the ball and it just rolls wide.
    • 41' Heskey has just had the ball in the back of the net but he was just offside and it is called back - Heskey proving to be a real handful today though.
    • 38' Super save by Craig Gordan as Heskey heads in from close range after pulling off Nosworthy when free kick was floated it. Gordan dives fast to tip it over the bar.
    • 32' Great chance from Sunderland - Richardson cuts the defence with a superb through ball Darly Murphy takes it first time with a sweeping low effort but Kirkland gets down fast to push it away.
    • 28' Sunderland can't really get out of their own half and the moment - you expect Roy Keane to be having strong words when half-time comes along.
    • 25' Wigan have remained the better side since the goal - they have been doing most of the attacking and Aghahowa has just fired a long range effort over.
    • 18' AND WIGAN HAVE THE LEAD - IT IS HESKEY. He is on hand to flick home Antonio Valencia's deflected cross but it the replay shows that he may well have been sent off.
    • 12' Sunderland with a free kick around 25 yards out Chopra curls it with power and Kirkland tips it over. From the resulting corner the ball drops well for Greg Halford but he loops it over the bar.
    • 10' Wigan have settled into this game quicker - we have still not had any clear cut chances but they are playing the better football early.
    • 6' A Wigan corner is whipped into the back post Melchiot gets his head to it but he was under pressure at the time and could only head over and wide.
    • 5' The game still settling down - neither side has taken control of things just yet.
    • 3' The ball comes into Heskey in the box he tries to take it on his chest and is squeezed out by a couple of defenders - a few half appeals for a penalty.
    • 2' Decent start this for Sunderland who have already won an early corner - they can't do anything with it but Kieron Richardson was the man who got things going.
    • 1' And we are underway here at the JJB
    • - An attacking looking Wigan side out there with Yorke, Murphy, Chopra and Stokes all starting.
    • - Welcome to the JJB where Wigan take on Sunderland. Roy Keane's men are looking to continue their good start after picking up four points from six. Wigan also in bullish mood after beating Middlesbrough in midweek.
