    • Sunderland
    • 90+3' It's all over! Sunderland claim a valuable point and edge closer to survival!
    • 90+2' CAHILL!!! Nearly wins it with a close-range header but Fulop denies him with a fine diving save!
    • 90' Bolton come away on the break, the ball is headed out as far as Riga who hits his shot into the ground and the ball bounces up and over the bar.
    • 88' Bolton are camped out in the Sunderland half but Sbragia's men stand firm. The ball drops to Mark Davies who chests it down and blazes over!
    • 86' Scrappy Sunderland defending from yet another corner, but still they survive and eventually the linesman flags for a goal kick.
    • 85' Fulop makes another good catch and Sunderland come forward again. Plenty of positivity from both sides but no end product.
    • 83' So close Sunderland! A low cross flashes across the face of goal and Jaaskelainen gets it away with his leg!
    • 82' Matthew Taylor delivers two more corners from the Bolton right but Fulop makes a decent catch and Sunderland come away on the attack...
    • 80' Tainio goes off after that bad tackle by Davies and Andy Reid replaces him.
    • 79' Danny Collins gets in a tangle with Jaaskelainen as they both pursue a cross, but it is the Bolton keeper who emerges with the ball.
    • 77' Sunderland play the free-kick forward and it drops to Richardson, who drags yet another shot wide! Not his day...
    • 76' Terrible tackle by Mark Davies on Tainio - a potential leg-breaker. Miraculously, the Sunderland man is OK and Davies escapes with only a booking!
    • 75' Bolton are definitely in the ascendancy now to in truth it has turned into a fairly scrappy game.
    • 73' Here is the change - Djibril Cisse comes on for Kenwyne Jones.
    • 72' Kenwyne Jones is down with a foot injury, and this might hasten the introduction of Cisse.
    • 70' Djibril Cisse warms up for Sunderland. Surely things haven't got that serious?
    • 69' Sunderland win a free-kick 30 yards out... Richardson has a shot but his effort is always going well over.
    • 67' Bolton opt for some more pace with Mustapha Riga replacing Johan Elamnder.
    • 67' An almighty scramble unfolds as the ball pings around the Sunderland box. Ferdinand heads off the line but the whistle has already gone for a supposed foul by Kevin Davies.
    • 66' Taylor with the free-kick... into the wall
    • 65' Steinsson wins a Bolton corner on the right... it is cleared and the follow-up blocked but then Taylor is fouled for a Bolton free-kick.
    • 64' Bolton come away on the break and once again all that is missing is a striker to put the ball in the net!
    • 63' A teasing cross comes in from the Sunderland left but Jones just cannot get his head to it!
    • 62' Malbranque fouls Steinsson as he booms the ball away and the free-kick is boomed upfield... where Davies cannot get his head to it and Fulop makes an easy claim.
    • 60' Both sides are stroking the ball around quite nicely. This has been far from the long ball fest you might have predicted.
    • 58' A long throw comes in from the Bolton left... Ferdinand heads it away.
    • 56' Again Bolton attack down the leftn with Davenport racing across to deal with the threat from Samuel.
    • 54' Better stuff from Bolton who work the ball around nicely but Mark Davies' shot flies high over the bar.
    • 52' Good tackling back from Malbranque to nick the ball away from Samuel as he attacks down the Bolton left.
    • 50' Sunderland have made a bright start to the second half but once again the problem lies in carving out genuine chances.
    • 48' Bolton free-kick lumped into the box... booted unconventionally into the air but Sunderland scramble it clear at the second attempt.
    • 46' One change from Bolton - Mark Davies replaces Tamir Cohen.
    • 46' The second half is under way!
    • 45+2' That's half-time, and we are still locked at 0-0. But reason for hope if you are a Sunderland fan.
    • 45+1' Into stoppage time and no goals here. Sunderland have been the better side but no breakthrough yet...
    • 44' Bardsley has a crack from 25 yards... and sends his shot whistling over the bar!
    • 42' McCann tackles Richardson as he prepares to pull the trigger and gets just enough on the ball to save what could easily have been the opener.
    • 40' Elmander nearly latches on to a long ball but his control lets him down. Bardsley plays it back to Fulop prompting appeals for a backpass, but referee Styles doesn't want to know.
    • 39' Bolton win three consecutive corners but none of them comes to anything as Sunderland stand firm.
    • 37' Sunderland construct a lovely, flowing move that culminates in Whitehead stumbling as he shoots and firing well wide.
    • 36' Yellow card Tamir Cohen for a rash tackle from behind on Leadbitter. No question that it's a booking.
    • 35' Ferdinand heads away a fairly aimless long ball into the Sunderland box.
    • 33' Richardson lifts the ball into the box and Jones cannot catch it. Sunderland are just trying to be a bit too clever.
    • 31' Bolton work the ball into the box from the right by Collins does well to snuff out the danger. Steinsson has been the hosts' best player so far.
    • 30' Sunderland continue to enjoy a really good spell of possession and are camped out inside the Bolton half. What they would give for a good natural finisher...
    • 28' Big penalty shout for Sunderland!! Jlloyd Samuel appears to bring down Bardsley just inside the Bolton box but the referee sees no foul!
    • 27' Elamnder tangles with Whitehead who stays down momentarily, but he too will live to fight another day.
    • 25' Jaaskelainen stays down after the corner following a challenge from Calum Davenport... he will be OK to continue, though.
    • 24' Gary Cahill makes a saving header from a Sunderland cross from the right that appears to be landing on the forehead of Kenwyne Jones.
    • 22' RICHARDSON!!! Blazes a sitter over from about 10 yards after Jones tees him up! What a miss..
    • 21' Leadbitter!!! Cuts inside his man from the left flank and fires a low right-foot shot into the side-netting!
    • 20' Sunderland corner on the left... Leadbitter with the inswinger but Bolton head it to safety with relative ease.
    • 19' Richardson! Blasts a shot over from 25 yards. Not his best effort, but the midfielder will always have a go from distance.
    • 18' This is a much better display from Sunderland than the frankly shameful effort at home to Everton last weekend.
    • 16' Steinsson flings a long throw into the Sunderland area but the ball bobbles its way to Fulop.
    • 14' Bolton are playing like a side who know they are basically safe, and do not look dangerous.
    • 12' Chance for Richardson, but he drags his left-foot shot wide!!
    • 11' Not a bad start at all from the visitors, who have had the better of the early play and look a more solid side with five in midfield and no Cisse.
    • 10' A Malbranque shot from the edge of the box nearly bobbles its way to Jones, but the big striker fails to control it and the ball ends up with Jaaskelainen.
    • 8' Kevin Davies is penalised for a bit of pushing and shoving inside the Sunderland half. He pleads his case to referee Rob Styles who doesn't want to know about it.
    • 6' McCann snaps into a tough challenge on Kenwyne Jones and Sunderland have a chance to come forward... the move breaks down.
    • 4' The ball is played in towards Kevin Davies in the Sunderland box but a defender gets a timely toe end on the ball and prods it to safety - an important intervention!
    • 3' Sunderland win a corner on the right... headed into the six-yard box where Whitehead fires an acrobatic volley high over the bar!
    • 1' Game on at the Reeobk and Bolton are immediately on the attack. Steinsson's cross from the right is caught acrobatically by Fulop!
    • - Welcome to live coverage of Bolton versus Sunderland. Ricky Sbragia has dropped Dribril Cisse and plays one up front. Fair enough.

  8. Comment 13 - Hate to say it but Bolton to nick it 1-0 because of a Sunderland own goal (the ball will bounce in of the back of Davenport's neck in the 93rd minute as he trips over Ferdinad trying to clear a corner !) - Sorry mate but that's where you guys are at !

Can only hope everyone else at the bottom is just as bad - He who dares, WINS ! is the order of the day.

  11. I cannot believe the way the season has gone. My fault, with all the money spent, I allowed myself to actually believe we could become a mid-table club from this year on. What a mug. As a Sunderland supporter I should know better. It has been the same my whole lifetime.

The emotional roller coaster continues. However, I think we will be exceeding my expectations if we get another point this season.

Should have had u r league status sorted 2 games ago, how did you get in this position ?
At least get a point and have a proper clearout in the summer.

Not confident though and the last games performance is the worst of any team I've seen this season - save for that of the Magpies against Liverpool !!!!!!!!!!

The Makems deserves better - sort yourselves out !!!
