    • 90' All over at the Bridge and Chelsea run out comfortable winners. City were poor and created virtually nothing. They have now gone 12 Premier League away matches without a win. Chelsea go second in the league with the win, which could and arguably should have come by a more convincing margin.
    • 84' Anelka slides in Malouda on the left and his shot finds the side-netting at Given's near post.
    • 81' Bojinov immediately into the action, hitting a crisp volley into Petr Cech's hands from just outside the box.
    • 78' Robinho leaves the field to jeers from the Chelsea fans. The Brazilian has failed to impact this match. Valeri Bojinov comes on in his palce.
    • 75' At 1-0 down City are still very much in this, but they just haven't looked like breaking down the Chelsea defence.
    • 72' Evans earns himself a booking for a nasty foul and Lampard lines up a free-kick from 30 yards...the wall does its job.
    • 70' Drogba is struggling with a knock and is forced to come off. Florent Malouda comes on in his place.
    • 66' Elano makes way for City, with Kelvin Etuhu coming on. Etuhu almost makes an instant impression, shooting wide with his first touch.
    • 62' BELLETTI HITS THE POST!! He drives forward and shoots across Given from 25 yards, but the woodwork saves City.
    • 55' City make their first change. Caicedo is replaced by the young Welsh international Ched Evans.
    • 53' Essien plays a one-two with Lampard and shoots from 25 yards...but his effort skids past the post.
    • 51' Drogba with another chance, this time running on goal from the right. He shoots, but Given saves at his near post. City are hanging on.
    • 47' DROGBA WITH A WONDERFUL CHANCE FOR CHELSEA!! But a two-pronged tackle from Richard Dunne and Onuoha denies the striker a perfect start to the second half.
    • 46' Off we go with the second half at Stamford Bridge. No further changes to report from either side.
    • 45' Lovely run from Stephen Ireland, who eventually finds Caicedo, but Terry makes the tackle. With that comes the half-time whistle. Chelsea thoroughly deserve their 1-0 lead. Back in 15!
    • 42' Chelsea are forced into a change. Deco has a hamstring problem and Juliano Belletti enters the fray in his place.
    • 39' Robinho in a good position for City inside the Chelsea box...he sends in a cross-come-shot from wide on the right, but a blue shirt clears comfortably.
    • 36' Lovely stuff from Chelsea. Drogba is played in by Lampard and his clever backheel finds BALLACK...WHO SHOOTS OVER FROM 12 YARDS!!
    • 32' Lampard sends Anelka through for Chelsea. Onuoha clearly pulls his shirt...the first time outside the box, the second inside. But the referee gives neither as the Frenchman goes down in a heap.
    • 31' Essien tries one from outside the box, but he pulls it wide.
    • 29' Elano goes in the book for a cynical trip on Ballack. The pair had been bickering just minutes early about a quick free-kick.
    • 23' Rare break forward for City. Felipe Caicedo lets fly from 20 yards, but he drags his left-foot shot past the post.
    • 18' CHELSEA LEAD!!! Lampard picks out Essien with a free-kick and the midfielder takes it first-time on the half-volley and finds the top corner from just inside the box. WHAT A FINISH!!!
    • 13' Anelka almost gets onto Drogba's flick, but Nedum Onuoha makes a solid tackle. From the resultant corner Lampard's shot is deflected behind for another...the second sees Carvalho jump highest, but his header is wide of target.
    • 11' First break from City. Robinho slides in Bridge, but the left-back is just offside as he bursts into the box.
    • 9' Essien has started superbly. He bursts forward and finds Drogba with slide rule pass, but the Ivorian is offside...just.
    • 5' It's all Chelsea in the early exchanges. City are taking time to settle and the visitors have barely seen the ball.
    • 2' Essien mis-hits a shot from the edge of the box and LAMPARD IS PERFECTLY PLACED TO HOOK IT HOME FROM SIX YARDS!! But he's offside. Correct decision by the referee's assistant.
    • 1' Mike Riley blows his whistle and we're away, under bright sunshine in south west London.
    • - City held Liverpool at Anfield in February, but Mark Hughes's team have only won once away from home in the Premier league all season - and that win came last August against Sunderland.
    • - Chelsea will go second if they win today. They trail Liverpool by three points, but have a better goal difference and will move above the Reds with victory.
    • - TEAM NEWS: Nigel de Jong, Craig Bellamy and Vincent Kompany miss out through injury for City, but Shaun Wright-Philips and Wayne Bridge will start against their former club.
    • - TEAM NEWS: Ricardo Carvalho returns for Chelsea and starts alongside John Terry at the back, with Alex relegated to the bench. Michael Essien will anchor midfield, with Deco in support of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

  12. good lord....al capone, what an extraordinary rant that was, calculated tho abit like benitez. you talk about these fans of chelsea that are false or only there because of the money and about the stretford end and kop section, what a load of S$%T, what are you on about, 95% of man u and liverpool fans are glory supporters who live outside of the respective cities and its alot easier to support man u and liverpool than it chelsea i have been a chelsea supporter for 20 years long before the money we have always had a good fan support were ust not as lucky as man u and liverpool to have such a big one, oh by the way not sure who you support but as far as fans leaving did you see old trafford 20 mins before the end? THERE'S YOUR SO CALLED TRUE SUPPORTERS!!!!!!

  15. Post 453 - sounds like I have hit a nerve! 1994 was not centuries ago it was 15 years ago. The fact is you have won the league about 3 times. Everton, Man City and Villa are far bigger clubs than Chelsea. Nobody will ever respect you because you have bought the sucess others have worked for over 50 years to get. It would be no different if Wigan suddenly got taken over and won the league. Your 'fans' have appeared only because of that sucess and by handing out plastic flags at your games you want to create an artifical atmosphere and be like the Kop or Stretford end! They boo at half time when it is 0-0, want the manager sacked when you lose two games and disappear before the end when you get beat! Yet you welcome these people?

From Al Capone, on Sun 15 Mar 7:43PM
  16. chelsea are best :)

  17. AL CAPONE!! The laffs on u mate, same old rant about history.Whats the point in teams playing 50 odd matches a season if morons like you are just going to bring up the @#$% of a century past? Why not just stop playing football altogether and just turn stadiums into churches or in the case of Old Trafford a mosc!Chelsea won the Cup Winners pre Abramovich in 99 and then beat the CL winners that summer for the European Super Cup.Ill tell you where i was in 1994 i was 12yrs old and i chose to follow a team only 1 other person in my school year supported, because i come from London and didnt want to follow a bunch of northerners like all the other red lovin SHEEP!So what if a lot of todays Chelsea fans are new blood,i think thats great and i welcome any challenge from new clubs coming up in the world.Screw Your History Football Is Now!! and Chelsea Blues will be gettin stronger and stronger 4ever!!
