    • 90+2' It's all over!! Liverpool stroll to victory and Newcastle look doomed.
    • 90+1' GERRARD!!! He strikes a long shot off the crossbar!
    • 89' David Ngog comes on for the struggling Javier Mascherano.
    • 87' GOAL!!! Aurelio curls a free-kick into the area where there are three unmarked Liverpool players and one of them - Lucas - nods the ball past Harper. Embarrassingly easy.
    • 85' Both sides seem fairly content to let time run its course. Newcastle have been embarrassingly outclassed.
    • 83' 'You should have stayed on the telly' chant the Liverpool fans to a chuckling Alan Shearer.
    • 81' Here's Michael Owen, along with Kevin Nolan, replacing Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins.
    • 80' Xabi Alonso is carried off on a stretcher after that Barton foul. Let's hope it is nothing too serious.
    • 79' Great saving tackle by Damien Duff to put the ball out for a corner as Babel attempts to tee up Kuyt.
    • 78' Barton getsa police escort down the tunnel - he's used to those - and Alan Shearer does not even give him a glance.
    • 77' IT'S RED!! Newcastle down to 10! Barton ordered off for a crunching two-footed tackle on Alonso. In his defence, he did get a piece of the ball, but it was a dangerous foul and referee Dowd got it right.
    • 76' Joey Barton could be in trouble here... a bad challenge on Xabi Alonso...
    • 74' Babel finds Gerrard in all sorts of space at the edge of the box... he shoots wide!!
    • 73' ALONSO HITS THE BAR AGAIN!!! The Spaniard so unlucky with his shot from just outside the box!
    • 72' Joey Barton curls a free-kick into the Liverpool box... Reina juggles the ball but clings on at the second or third attempt.
    • 70' Gutierrez crosses from the left but there are no Newcastle players attacking the box! Madness...
    • 69' Ironic cheers from the Newcastle fans as Bassong robs Gerrard. He rather blots his copybook by putting the ball out for a throw just a couple of yards up the pitch, though.
    • 67' Make that 16! Javier Mascherano smashes a drive wide from the edge of the box.
    • 67' Liverpool lead by 15 goal attempts to Newcastle's one. Says it all.
    • 66' Kuyt gets a glancing header on target but it is straight at Harper.
    • 64' Nicky Butt goes down after a collision and looks to be in some pain. He will limp off...
    • 63' Here comes Babel, and Riera is the man who makes way.
    • 62' Riera fires wide from the edge of the box, and as he does so Ryan Babel gets ready to come on.
    • 61' Half an hour to go, and Liverpool have been on cruise control in the second hald.
    • 59' Barton and Beye combine well down the right, and the latter's cross is cleared. Barton then sends the ball out for a goal-kick, much to the glee of the home fans.
    • 58' GERRARD!!! Fires a 25-yard drive that curls just wide of the left-hand post!
    • 56' Liverpool have two cracks at the corner but this time the visiting defence stands firm.
    • 55' Gutierrez tracks back well to concede a corner on the Liverpool right - Gerrard to take.
    • 54' Less than 20 minutes remain in the Championship, and there is drama afoot. Click here for full coverage
    • 53' Gutierrez makes a purposeful run down the left... better from Newcastle. But he is dispossessed by Arbeloa.
    • 52' Viduka is caught offside again, and reacts with a few indistinct gesticulations.
    • 50' Bassong's attempt at a headed clearance lands at the feet of Gerrard who drives a low diagonal shot wide of the right-hand post.
    • 49' Gerrard attempts a cheeky backheel into the path of Riera but it does not have enough power on it.
    • 48' Liverpool continue to dominate possession. The visitors desperately need a spark to liven things up.
    • 46' The second half is under way, and Liverpool will surely look to put this game to bed quickly.
    • 46' Half-time change for Newcastle - Jonas Gutierrez on for Peter Lovenkrands.
    • 45+1' Just a minute of stoppage time is played before Phil Dowd blows for half-time. That is merciful relief for Newcastle, who have defended like a side destined for the Championship.
    • 45' Liverpool pour forward again, but it is almost too easy for them and an extravagant Benayoun backheel goes astray.
    • 43' Agger strides forward from the back and unleashes a belting 40-yard drive!! Harper makes a diving save, but it was neverlikely to beat the Newcastle keeper.
    • 42' This could be good opportunity for Liverpool to increase their goal difference advantage over Manchester United. Every attack looks like it could result in a goal.
    • 41' Gerrard collects the ball and his marker Duff seems to run away from him before the Liverpool skipper crashes a shot into the Irishman.
    • 39' ALONSO!!! Cracks a bending, dipping long-range effort off the crossbar! It cannons back into Harper and away to safety.. what a strike.
    • 38' Liverpool are knocking the ball around with such ease. You get the feeling that, if the home side so desired, they could prevent Newcastle from touching the ball again today.
    • 37' Newcastle make a rare foray into the Liverpool box but it is cut short as a flag goes up against the barrelling Viduka.
    • 35' Benayoun crosses from the Liverpool left but this time Harper is more secure and makes a decent catch.
    • 33' Another shot rolls a yard or so wide of the left-hand post. Newcastle are all over the place.
    • 32' Liverpool have another corner on the left... Gerrard delivers and Harper misses it, but Newcastle scramble it away!
    • 31' Half an hour gone and Liverpool are in complete control now. Rafa looks relaxed.
    • 29' Newcastle have thrown away a promising start with some truly useless defending. Alan Shearer's face is Ferrari scarlet.
    • 28' GOOOAALLL!!! Kuyt races in unmarked and buries a superb diving header from the corner!
    • 27' Riera attempts a cross from the left and Beye blocks it out for a corner.
    • 26' Shambolic marking from Liverpool allows Benayoun to receive the ball, turn and shoot, bringing a brilliant save from Harper. But this time he is flagged offside - and the replay shows he was level with the last man!
    • 25' Rafa Benitez presses downwards with his hands like he is trying to close the boot of a very small car.
    • 24' Newcastle were never going to keep a clean sheet, so that goal will not come as much of a shock, but Benayoun definitely looked half a yard or so offside when Kuyt played the ball in. No doubt that will be replayed to death.
    • 22' GOAL!!! Yossi Benayoun scores off his knee from a couple of yards!! Kuyt robs the indecisive Bassong in the Newcastle box and plays a low, pacy cross in front of goal and Benayoun slides it in! But was the Israeli offside?
    • 21' Twenty minutes gone and this is turning into a cracking game. Both sides really going for it.
    • 19' At the other end, Gerrard tries a long shot but booms it over the bar.
    • 18' Lovenkrands is played through and tries to round Reina... can't get his shot away!! But that was a real chance for Newcastle!
    • 17' KUYT!!!! Aurelio bends in a superb cross from the left, the Dutchman meets it powerfully but sends his header wide of the far post!
    • 16' Gerrard is allowed to run and run and he STRIKES FROM DISTANCE!!! Fine diving save from Harper to tip it behind!
    • 15' Duff overlaps down the Newcastle left and crosses low but Agger cuts the ball out. Not a bad start from the visitors.
    • 14' Gerrard strikes a low, scudding effort and Harper moves to his left to make the save.
    • 13' Coloccini upends Gerrard and this will be a dangerous free-kick for Liverpool.
    • 11' Nifty footwork from Harper, who nicks the ball away from the rapidly-approaching Kuyt.
    • 10' Good defending from Habib Beye to snuff out more danger down the Liverpool left from Riera.
    • 9' There is equally important action going on across the country on the last day of the Championship regular season. Click here for full Championship coverage!
    • 7' Sloppy pass from Riera, giving the ball away to squander a good opportunity. Fernando Torres is in the crowd looking glum. This is his sixth hamstring injury in two years at Liverpool.
    • 6' Duff curls a Newcastle free-kick into the box... and Liverpool head it clear.
    • 5' It does indeed appear that Damien Duff is operating as a left-back. Yossi Benayoun will fancy running at the former Chelsea man...
    • 3' Daniel Agger has been bashed in the mouth and his lip is swelling up. It certainly shouldn't stop him playing, though.
    • 2' Martins! He loves his snapshots and he takes one left-footed from the edge of the box. It takes a touch and goes out for a corner.
    • 2' Steven Gerrard beats Coloccini with ease and comes in from the left... he then runs into Butt and takes a theatrical dive. No penalty!
    • 1' Newcastle kick off and jeers greet an early touch for Joey Barton, himself a native of Liverpool. He is back today after three months out.
    • - It is suggested that Newcastle may actually utilise a 4-4-2 with Damien Duff at left-back. Good luck with that.
    • - Alan Shearer has described Michael Owen as a "fantastic professional" and insists there has been "definitely no fallout" between the two. He said it was "a difficult decision" to leave his mate on the bench.
    • - Newcastle's team is, frankly, mental. There is no Michael Owen, which is fair enough, but there is also no defence. The Toon operate three at the back with two wingers and two strikers. Alan Shearer may be thinking that they'll concede a hatful anyway so they might as well attack.
    • - Liverpool are without their leading striker Fernando Torres whose hamstrings are playing up again, while Daniel Agger - fresh from signing a new contract - comes into the centre of defence ahead of Martin Skrtel.
    • - Both teams have everything to play for at Anfield and we have some very interesting team selections!

  8. Liverpool missed out in January with Torres and Gerrard injured, that's when we lost the title, still where there is life there is hope, no matter what it's been a great season, full of incident and action, so here's looking forward to the next one.

On another level the reds need rid of the Americans, they have put us in debt and reduced our spending power to buy new players, congrats to the team for doing so well despite all the financial turmoil this season.

  10. Hello my footie friends, it marnio here from the peru.
For many many months i feel the sorry for the newcastle fans.
first their hero the mr keegan and his bestest friend mr macerdermot leave the club to find a better team, then they maker mr sheerer the manager and he not make things the better he make them the worst.
the georgies very passionate about their football but the unfortunately the newcastle team very rubbish team.
they must go back to the basics. the manager must tell the players the the round thing with the air in that they kick about is called THE BALL. the things made of the wood with the nets on is called THE GOALS and the purpose of the game is to put the round thing with the air into the wooden things with the nets on.
newcastle players and the manager mr sheerer must then be given the long rest in the retirement home. they not the good enough for the premiership football. they the rubbish side.
