    • 90+2 Ashley Cole bursts in from the left and he lobs Hart but he just manages to tip it over!
    • 90' Sturridge gets the ball in the box, beats one man and drills a shot on goal but blocked by Carvalho for a corner!
    • 88' Good work from SWP on the left but the cross is cleared.
    • 86' Dunne brings Drogba down with a clumsy challenge. He was the last defender, but gets not so much as a yellow. Bizarrely inconsistent.
    • 84' CITY SUB: Young striker Daniel Sturridge comes on for Ball.
    • 82' Ireland on the ball, he cuts inside and can shoot but he hesitates again and passes back to Ball who shoots straight at Cech.
    • 79' CHELSEA SUB: Anelka off for Alex.
    • 78' The free-kick causes a minor crisis in the Chelsea box but no-one gets a significant shot away and the visitors survive.

    • 63' Still pretty much all Chelsea as Anelka does well to free Bosingwa on the right, but his cross flies high and wide.

    • 60' Chelsea aren't giving up though, some lovely play involving Lampard sees Ashley Cole win a corner on the left. That corner is headed just wide by Anelka.
    • 59' Long diagonal ball from Lampard spotting Anelka's run, he's clean through and goes down under Richards's challenge but no penalty! Cast-iron spot kick, Richard's just shoved the Frenchman to the ground! Bizarre miss from Halsey.
    • 56' The hosts are pressing forward a bit more and the crowd roar for a penalty as SWP goes down on the edge of the box, good tackle though.
    • 54' City almost hit back from the kick-off, but Ireland hesitates when in space on the edge of the box and the move breaks down - he should have shot.
    • 53' Mikel moves forward, he feeds Lampard who plays it to Joe Cole, he looks wide to Anelka who plays it low into the box for Lampard to take a touch, move wide AND DRILL A LOW SHOT INTO THE BOTTOM RIGHT FOR 2-1! A great Chelsea goal, as a team and individually from Lampard. That has been coming.
    • 52' SWP does well on the left, knocking the ball back to Ball, he crosses and it's with Robinho but again he frustrates with a silly lollipop and mis-placed pass to Zabaleta, who is forced to commit the foul.
    • 50' Joe Cole gets the ball after a neat chest control by Anelka, he slips it into Lampard WHO'S IN THE BOX AND CAN SHOOT BUT FIRES OVER! First good chance of the half.
    • 49' Poor clearance by Ball lands at the feet of Ashley Cole but Chelsea don't make him pay and end up all the way back to Zabaleta, who is tackled by SWP. For some reason Halsey blows for a foul and Sparky can't believe it.
    • 48' The dark side of Robinho is exposed as he needlessly tries some step-overs then gives the ball away.
    • 47' Chelsea attack straight away but Richards foils Joe Cole and City counter, Robinho could be in but he can't get the shot away and Chelsea clear. Still with City though, as Ball drills a cross in, it's half-cleared and Hamann lofts the ball in but it's over Jo's head and into Cech's arms.

    • 45+1 And that is half-time, all-square with the cash-flashing duo of Manchester City and Chelsea at a goal apiece.
    • 45' Hamann's free-kick is cleared and Chelsea come forward, great turn by Deco but the support isn't there, City get back and eventually Richards clears. But Ashley Cole gets the ball, comes inside and sends a great shot on goal which beats Hart but dips just too late, roof of the net.
    • 44' SWP robs Terry, beats a rough sliding tackle from Carvalho with an outrageous piece of skill and is then clattered by Mikel, who is booked.
    • 42' More kamikaze play by City as Joe Cole crosses it low to no-one in particular and Zabaleta - in loads of space - idiotically plays it straight to Anelka AND HE MUST SCORE BUT HART SAVES! A decent shot, but really Anelka shouldn't have given Hart a prayer from there.
    • 40' Hart inexplicably throws the ball out to Robinho with Chelsea players everywhere, it's wide to Joe Cole and the cross for MALOUDA UNMARKED but he sends it well wide! Should have got that on target son, and Hart breathes a sigh of relief.
    • 39' Lampard does well to start a counter, Deco now goes wide to Malouda but his cross is blocked for a throw. SWP is caught dilly-dallying by Ashley Cole, but the City winger gets back to tackle at the expense of a corner.
    • 38' A lull in the match after a pretty entertaining opening 35 minutes.
    • 35' Ashley Cole gets in space on the left and, for once, his delivery matches his movement, but Dunne slides in to put it behind for a corner. The set-piece is cleared eventually, and Ireland brings it away.
    • 34' City come forward after Gelson wins it, SWP with a cute ball wide for Jo who cuts inside and curls a great shot on goal but deflected off Terry and just over for a corner.
    • 32' Malouda is caught offside this time, much to the delight of the home fans.
    • 30' City's bright start has faded - Chelsea have had 60% of the possession since.
    • 29' Great one-touch play from Chelsea, working it wide from right to left and really stretching City but the ball to Ashley Cole goes out thanks to tracking back from - you guessed it - Robinho.
    • 28' Bosingwa goes forward, into Deco but he can't get a shot away, Joe Cole now, back to Deco who plays it wide and Anelka chases it and it's back with Joe Cole who sends in a great cross AND MALOUDA UNMARKED HEADS IT OFF THE BAR! He looked well offside but the flag stayed down and City survive!
    • 25' Chelsea really starting to knock it about now as Malouda picks it up on the left and chips it over for Deco, but he misses it and Bosingwa has a shot but high and wide.
    • 24' Great flick by Jo, outrageous actually, he plays Ireland in on the edge of the box and he shoots but it spins over! Should have kept that down son, good football though. City playing some really fun football.
    • 23' Chelsea are hitting their stride now, Lampard goes wide to Bosingwa who beats Ball and swings over a great cross FOR ANELKA but he heads over! Not his strongest skill, Drogba would have had that.
    • 21' Chelsea counter, Deco now on the left, he cuts it inside to Anelka but his shot is rubbish and flies well over.
    • 20' Now City break, SWP on the ball and he slides it wide right to Robinho but Terry slides in and blocks.
    • 19' SWP comes forward and after a one-two runs straight into Terry, asking for the foul, but Terry hits the deck and nothing is given. Lampard comes forward on the right and he slides it across to Joe Cole but Hart gets there first.
    • 18' Corner to City on the left, Gelson swings it over but Lampard clears, now Malouda comes forward and he goes down but Zabaleta adjudged not to have put his arm across him, which he did.
    • 16' Free-kick to Chelsea on the right, swung over by Deco and Terry is unmarked, it's going wide but rebounds off Joe Cole AND CARVALHO THRASHES IT INTO THE ROOF OF THE NET! 1-1, a rather short-lived lead and poor defending from moneybags.
    • 13' On reflection that was a bit of a rubbish goal, the free-kick was pretty good but the wall shocking and the deflection helped Andi Peters look-a-like Robinho somewhat. Still, he doesn't care, and has the nerve to point to the badge when celebrating. Ha!
    • 12' Jo joins Robinho over the ball, but Robinho will take it. Mark Halsey is fiddling with the wall... Robinho takes a short run-up AND HE SENDS A CURLER ROUND THE WALL INTO THE BOTTOM RIGHT! WHAT A GOAL! OOOOH, ROBINHO HAS LANDED! It took a slight deflection but Cech was motionless anyway, a poor wall to be honest and he's raging at John Terry. 1-0 City, take that poor-boys.
    • 11' Ireland with a good ball over to SWP who touches it back to Jo and Carvalho slides in and it's a free-kick to City on the edge of the D. Robinho wants it.
    • 10' Kompany flies in late on Deco, no card and all smiles as they get up. Ashley Cole on the left finds Malouda, who goes inside to Lampard whose left-foot shot is straight at Hart.
    • 8' The corner isn't great and Chelsea clear, but City still have the ball. They're bossing possession in these opening stages.
    • 7' Lovely chipped ball wide by Ireland, Zabaleta on the overlap, his ball is blocked and it's a City corner which SWP will take.

He will be helped by wide-men Joe Cole and Florent Malouda, while Michael Ballack is not even in the squad, with John Obi Mikel starting in midfield. Michael Essien's cruciate ligament injury means he is unlikely to feature again this year.
    • - MANCHESTER CITY TEAM NEWS: Robinho starts alongside fellow Brazilian Jo. City's outrageous riches allows them to drop Elano (ha!), while defender Vicnent Kompany steps up into midfield due to Michael Johnson's injury, otherwise there are no major changes. Shaun Wright-Phillips makes his second home-debut for City, against the club from which he joined.
