    • 90+4' That's it, all over at the Riverside, and Boro's barren run continues. They remain firmly in the relegation mire, and look incapable of scoring.
    • 90+2' Sibierski and Rodallega try a nifty one-two through the Boro defenders but Pogatetz is wise to it and intercepts.
    • 90' Downing gets to the byline and it's bound for an Alves header... Boyce rises higher and heads clear!
    • 89' Four minutes of injury time are signalled for the end of this match.
    • 85' Tuncay lays the ball across to O'NEIL who strikes low but Kirkland saves with his legs! surely someone is going to score?
    • 83' Pogatetz caught dithering by Brown and the Wigan midfielder plays Rodallega through. The striker is forced into a shot from an acute angle and fires into the side netting.
    • 82' N'Zogbia tries a shot from way out, and it's way wide.
    • 79' This match is almost unrecognisable from the first half now. With 10 minutes to go, this could go either way.

    • 66' Bramble steams across to tackle and concede the throw. He then thwarts O'Neil to concede the corner. There's a lot more life in this Boro side now. Pogatetz heads over from the corner.

    • 63' Tuncay latches on to a through ball and heads for gaol! He knocks the ball past Boyce and hits the deck... NO PENALTY!! Another good decision from Mike Dean. He doesn't book Tuncay though.
    • 61' Both sides make changes here as Wigan's Rodallega comes on for Kapo and Tuncay is on for Middlesbrough in place of Johnson. Southgate is desperate to end this terrible run Boro are on.
    • 60' O'Neil swings in a cross to ALIADIERE AT THE FAR POST... Volleyed across goal and wide! what a way to mark his comeback that almost was!
    • 58' Pogatetz can't clear and Melchiot intercpets. He continures his run and gets the ball back off Kapo, but the Wigan skipper is closed down before he can get the shot off.
    • 57' Huth clears the ball into touch before Kapo can reach a long ball.
    • 54' Amr Zaki finally makes his mark on the match by picking up a yellow card for a late challenge on Justin Hoyte.
    • 53' A bit of a lull in the match now as Boro adjust to their change of formation.
    • 50' An early offensive change for Boro as Julio Arca makes way for the returning Jeremie Aliadiere.
    • 49' Melchiot releases Zaki with a ball down the right channel, but the Egyptian's cross sails harmlessly out for a goal kick.
    • 47' Wigan are seeing a lot more of the ball so far in this half. They don't seem in too much of a rush to get the ball forward though. When they evenmtually do Kapo's cross doesn't make it past the first man.

    • 45+6' The end of the first half is signalled. Following Cattermole's industrial challenge resulting in Digard's bad injury, the Boro players have had their minds as much on getting revenge as they have on breaking down the Wigan defence.
    • 45+4' Yet another booking! This time it's for Alves, who went to ground in the vicinity of Cattermole, trying to get him sent off, in effect trying to complete the job Arca started earlier.
    • 45+1' Kapo was also booked for a foul in the build-up to that move.
    • 45+1' Gary O'Neil chases a ball to the byline in the wigan box and goes down... No penalty! Referee Mike Dean books O'Neil for diving, a great call considering Cattermole and Figueroa were obstructing his view. Six minutes of injury time will be played.
    • 43' Justice is done in the eyes of some Boro fans as Lee Cattemrole is booked for Julio Arca tripping over not much more than thin air!
    • 42' Zaki has been rather quiet so far, but he comes out to the left to collect the ball. He beats a man, cuts inside and SHOOTs.. Jones is all over that shot and holdas it on the ground.
    • 41' A high ball isn't dealt with by Boro and Watson can volley from the edge of the box, but he miscues the effort and it rolls well wide.
    • 39' Johnson pulls off a couple of stepovers in the box and shoots across goal... hacked away by Boyce for a corner! Boro fail to make much of the set piece. Some more great build-up play led to that chance, but Boro really lack that clinical edge.
    • 37' N'Zogbia curls the free-kick over the wall... Palmed away by Jones! The shot didn't have enough curl or pace on it, and Jones got two hands to it.
    • 36' Melchiot has won a free-kick on the edge of the box. N'Zogbia fancies his chances...
    • 35' walker's corner goes over everyone and comes to Downing who SHOOTS AGAIN... This time the right-footed effort hits the side netting.
    • 34' Johnson plays a ball inside for DOWNING TO STRIKE... Kirkland gets down low to tip the ball around the far post! Good effort Downing, even better save!
    • 31' Michael Brown fires a shot on goal from around 20 yards out... Saved low by Jones quite comfortably in the end. O'Neil has taken a knock in the chest from Brown and is a bit winded, He takes a minute to catch his breath and will continue. Wigan are really roughing up Middlesbrough.
    • 29' Alves tries to power past Boyce on the left but is hauled down by the defender on the wing. Great set-piece opportunity for Boro here. O'Neil will cross in... Headed away by Bramble.
    • 27' Watson slides in and trips Downing and receives the day's first booking.
    • 25' Play now resumes. We'll let you know more about Digard when we hear anything, but he had a splint attached to his leg as he went off.
    • 20' Digard is being loaded on to a stretcher and being fed oxygen. He will play no further part, and is carried off to be replaced by Josh Walker.
    • 18' Lee Cattermole goes right through Didier Digard in the centre of the pitch! The Frenchman is down clutching his ankle in agony - the Boro players are furious! Cattermole did get the ball though.
    • 17' Johnson bursts through the midfield but gets impeded by Cattermole - no foul! The referee gives nothing and Cattermole dispossesses the young winger.
    • 15' A nice slick move by Boro as Johnosn flicks a first-time pass on for Alves to chase, but Melchiot is on him in a shot.
    • 13' A searching long ball from O'Neil is over Downing's head and into the arms of Kirkland.
    • 11' Boro are seeing all of the ball here, but as ever Wigan are proving a stubborn side to break down.
    • 8' Alves drops a shoulder to ghost past Melchiot, but he can't fool Bramble and Boro have a throw. Arca's throw goes back to Pogatetz via Johnson and the full-back's chipped pass is out for a goal-kick.
    • 7' Watson commits a foul on Arca in midfield. He's not afraid to put it about, that's for sure.
    • 5' Watson sends in a free-kick from the left. It rebounds off a Boro defender and Brown shoots but again blocked. Boro counter again and this time Johnson's cut back ball is cleared for a corner. Maynor Figueroa is on hand to clear.
    • 4' Jones plucks a Wigan free-kick out of the air and his long throw sets up a counter attack! Downing bombs down the right wing and tries to pick out Alves with a cross... shanked into the stand! It was on his weaker foot, so we'll cut him a little slack, but still a wasted opportunity.
    • 2' Downing fouls Boyce as he chases a long ball towards the corner.
    • 1' Pogatetz hoofs a Melchiot long throw right back to him. The Dutchman tries to loft a ball up to Kapo but again his opposing skipper clears.

  6. As a Latics fan I think the result was what to be­ expected. As for sacking GS you must be off your head.­ What you need is stability not to keep sacking managers­ Ok your going through a rough patch but that will all­ be forgotten if you win your next match.
    But what you­ have got to remember is that you will not get success­ by sacking managers just because they have had run of­ bad luck.
