    Time:90'
    • Portsmouth
    • Manchester City
    • 90+2 FULL-TIME: Pompey deserved winners, although they need two goals just twenty minutes from time to see off a woeful City performance.
    • 90 Pompey are getting plenty of space and time on the break as City push everyone forward, but Kompany and Onouha are keeping them at bay.
    • 88 Kranjcar almost makes it three when he cuts in from the right...but his low shot is saved by the legs of Given.
    • 86 City have finally come to life a bit, but it's about sixty minutes too late.
    • 85 POMPEY SUB: Pennant is replaced by Nadir Belhadj for the final five minutes or so.
    • 84 Hermann Hreidarsson and Bellamy are booked for an altercation off the ball; the City man is furious at the perceived injustice.
    • 82 WHAT A SAVE! INCREDIBLE SAVE! Evans meets a cross from the right with a thundering header...but James somehow tips the ball wide of the post with a wonderful save!
    • 81 OVER! Crouch gets down the left wing...he pulls the ball back to the edge of the box...but Mullins thrashes his shot high over the bar.
    • 79 Caicedo does well to hold the ball up before playing in Ireland, but his shot on the turn is easily saved by James.
    • 78 It looks like Pompey will be climbing a place to 16th with this win as City spurn the chance to move into seventh. Not a good day for the Blues.
    • 76 City can throw all the attackers on they want; they don't remotely look like scoring this afternoon.
    • 75 CITY SUB: Zabaleta is withdrawn for Ched Evans as Hughes goes for broke.
    • 74 GOAL! Hermann Hreidarsson meets the corner with a thumping header...powered into the top corner! Fantastic header from the big defender.
    • 73 Pompey win a corner after Pennant's cross from the right is deflected behind by Elano...
    • 72 City win a free-kick, 45 yards out...Kompany and Onuoha go forward...but Pompey hook the ball clear.
    • 71 England U21 boss Stuart Pearce is watching from the stands; I wonder who he's got his eye on? Or perhaps he is on a scouting mission for Fabio? Johnson will have impressed him.
    • 70 Can City get back into this match? They have offered absolutely nothing going forward so far.
    • 69 Pompey have been threatening that goal, no doubt; Given made a superb save to keep out Johnson's opening effort, but could do nothing about the rebound.
    • 68 GOAL! DEADLOCK BROKEN! Johnson opens the scoring, cutting inside, bringing a save out of Given with a left-foot shot before lashing the rebound into the top corner!
    • 65 CITY SUB: Robinho is replaced by Caicedo; the Brazilian has had a shocker, not been able to get in the game at all.
    • 64 WIDE! Nugent finds some space at the back post at the corner...but heads wide! Tough chance, but a chance all the same.
    • 63 INTERCEPTION! Logan makes a crucial interception as Kranjcar almost gets on the end of Crouch's little pass into the box.
    • 62 RUBBISH! A nice City move sees Ireland move the ball out to Elano...he has the chance to fire over a dangerous cross...but tamely rolls the ball into the hands of James!
    • 61 Crouch finds a bit of space down the left channel...he tries to go cross-goal with his shot, which takes a deflection out for a corner.
    • 60 City think they have won a corner when Bellamy combines with Bridge; the referee says goalkick and the visitors are furious!
    • 59 DECENT CHANCE FOR CITY! Ireland slips in Bellamy...but his first-time shot on the turn flies high over the bar! Good chance that; he should have hit the target, I reckon.
    • 58 ...the corner is taken short to Hermann Hreidarsson...but his shot from just inside the corner of the box is blocked.
    • 57 Pompey win a corner through some very hesitant defending from Onuoha...
    • 56 Robinho is having a shocker; another misplaced pass as he tries to feed Bellamy on the edge of the box. Hughes looks furious on the touchline.
    • 54 It's still very scrappy out there; none of the flair players have been able to influence the match at all.
    • 53 DREADFUL! Nugent springs the offside trap...he gets free down the right channel, but woefully scuffs his attempt on goal from a tight angle.
    • 52 Pompey win a corner when De Jong tracks back and gets a block in on Johnson's cross. The corner is taken short, but Johnson's effort from the edge of the box is weak.
    • 50 Campbell goes to ground very easily under a little shove from Bellamy; he'll be embarrassed to see that one replayed back to him.
    • 49 City start well, Zabaleta stabs a weak effort goalwards after linking up well with Robinho; comfortable save from James.
    • 48 No changes from either side at the break, by the way.
    • 47 Shay Given spent the final five minutes of the half-time break out on the pitch, getting in some more practice. He must sense he's going to be in for a tough time...
    • 46 THE SECOND HALF IS UNDERWAY!
    • 45 HALF-TIME: A scrappy half from both sides; City started really poorly, but have gradually settled down - although they have offered little going forward.
    • 44 Pompey win a couple of late corners...but City deal with the threat well.
    • 42 Elano tests James with a bobbling effort from a 30-yard free-kick...saved comfortably.
    • 40 Pennant finds some space down the right...he sends a decent cross into the middle...but Kompany heads clear.
    • 39 City are completely unable to get Bellamy in the game; they are hoofing long balls upfield for him to chase, and although he is doing so willingly, he isn't able to get on the end of any of them.
    • 38 It's all got a bit scrappy now; Bridge brings down Pennant for another free-kick; Pompey still looking dangerous, but City are finally beginning to find their feet.
    • 36 Bellamy is unlucky not to get through on goal after superbly controlling a pass and flicking it over the head of Johnson.
    • 34 SHOT! Kompany moves up field with a late run...but his fierce drive is straight at James.
    • 33 Davis is penalised for a studs-up challenge on Zabaleta, who isn't very pleased with the Pompey man.
    • 32 Finally a spell of pressure friom City down the right; Logan looks good on the ball as he shows fine close control, but he can't get a cross into the middle.
    • 31 ...Kranjcar tries to pick out Hermann Hreidarsson with the set-piece, the big defender having moved up to the back post to isolate Logan...but he can't get a proper contact on his header.
    • 30 Crouch is wrapped up in a Kompany-De Jong sandwich; free-kick, and a chance to send the big men forward...
    • 29 CLOSE! Nugent nods wide after being picked out by a superb cross from Johnson, who is having a fine game.
    • 28 A cross from the right finds its way to Bellamy on the penalty spot, but the City man just can't bring the ball under control.
    • 27 Good commitment from Ireland to rob Bassinas in midfield with a strong shoulder charge...the Pompey man brings him down to stop Ireland getting away from him.
    • 26 Pompey are looking good today; Kompany has to be at his best to deny Crouch at the near post as the striker tried to get on the end of a low cross.
    • 25 Given has to be alert to come to the edge of his box and punch clear Johnson's pass just before Nugent can prod past him; another error from the City defence, who lost the run of the striker.
    • 24 De Jong almost plays in Bellamy with a fine pass down the left flank...
    • 23 OVER! Elano finds some space on the edge of the box after good play by Bridge and Bellamy...but the Brazilian lashes his shot a few yards over.
    • 22 Bellamy gets in some space down the right flank...he tries to cut inside, but runs into two Pompey defenders and loses control of the ball.
    • 21 City's defence looks very shaky today; they are making a lot of errors, missing interceptions, making hashes of clearances.
    • 20 De Jong is booked for a clumsy challenge on Kranjcar; the City man is very apologetic.
    • 19 Bellamy is found with a sharp pass to the edge of the box...but the little striker just can't turn to get his shot away.
    • 18 OVER! Kranjcar hooks an effort high over the bar after Nugent had done well to hold the ball up in the box and nod back to the midfielder.
    • 16 Another long ball from defence fails to find the run of Bellamy; City need to get their playmakers on the ball more, instead of bypassing them.
    • 15 City are finally finding their feet a little, but their passing still isn't up to scratch; they are giving the ball away in some dangerous spots.
    • 14 Elano and Robinho look to combine for the first time with a nice one-two...but Distin gets a boot in to prevent Robinho latching on to the return ball.
    • 13 It's been a fine start from Pompey, although City have been woeful in the early stages; they have yet to get the ball down and play.
    • 12 WHAT A CHANCE! Nugent gets through on goal...Given and Onuoha manage to shepherd him wide...and his shot from a tightening angle goes the wrong side of the post!
    • 11 City have been in great form at home this season but woeful away; Hughes has stuck to his attacking beliefs as he chases a rare win on the road this afternoon.
    • 10 SAVE! Crouch forces Given into his first save of the match with a snap volley...straight at the City keeper.
    • 9 Pompey win a corner when Nugent pressurises Logan into an error...
    • 8 Nugent is caught offside as he tries to get on the end of a long ball from the back; good offside line from the City defence.
    • 7 Some miscommunication as Logan and Kompany challenge for the same ball; Kompany sweeps up the danger. Logan looks a little nervous on his full league debut.
    • 6 Onuoha is going to have a tough afternoon in the air against Crouch; the big England striker wins his first header with some ease.
    • 5 City launch their first attack, but it breaks down and Pompey break...the move breaks down when Basinas gives away possession.
    • 4 Robinho and Elano were in top form for Brazil in midweek; can they bring their form to the Premier League?
    • 3 Portsmouth attack through Nugent down the right...Zabaleta gets back to put the tackle in and win a goalkick for his side.
    • 2 Portsmouth win an early free-kick on the right...blocked by a City leg....decent start from the home side.
    • 1 OKAY, OFF WE GO!
    • - Manchester City replace the suspended Shaun Wright-Phillips with Elano after the Brazilian's Brazilian goalscoring display against Italy in midweek, while defender Shaleum Logan is handed his league debut for the club.

    • - Portsmouth goalkeeper David James will break Gary Speed's Premier League appearance record today after being picked for his 536th top-flight appearance.
