  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • Stoke City
    • Hull City
    • 90+4' A bit of gamesmanship by Paul McShane, mimicking Delap by drying the ball for a considerable amount of time before taking his throw-in, and the final whistle follows. 1-1 is about fair in what was a cracking game at the Britannia Stadium.
    • 90+2' One last Delap throw-in causes havoc, but Hull finally clear through Turner and McShane makes sure with a huge punt up field.
    • 90' Four minutes to be added, the majority of which will have emanated from Delap's ball-drying. Turner wastes a corner for Hull.
    • 89' Kamil Zayatte is booked for a dubious challenge. The amount he has suffered himself today he is justified in feeling aggrieved.
    • 88' Amdy Faye has a great chance to score the winner for Stoke from close-range, making poor contact with Michael Tonge's inswinging free-kick.
    • 87' Sidibe has a decent shot saved by Myhill from the edge of the Hull box. Tony Pulis is out-barking his counterpart Phil Brown, who is just pacing around nervously now.
    • 86' The game has got very scrappy in the final stages. It is intriguing to see whether both sides are going to settle for a point here, or go for the jugular.
    • 83' Salif Diao is booked for a bad challenge above Zayatte's ankle; no complaints there. Both managers are waving frantically at their players on the edge of the touchline.
    • 81' Ironic cheers ring around the Britannia Stadium as Ricketts is reluctantly handed Rory Delap's towel, then throws tamely to the edge of the Stoke area.
    • 79' It's Hull who have the best chance of the last five minutes, however, Geovanni skipping to the edge of the area but dragging his shot wide.
    • 78' Phil Brown makes an adventurous substitution, bringing on striker Daniel Cousin for defensive midfielder George Boateng.
    • 77' Another shock of fog rolls in and the everyone squints to see Stoke's latest wave of attack; Sidibe slashing his shot wide from 20-yards out.
    • 75' The home fans at the Britannia Stadium are now in full voice and Fuller flies down the wing and has a new lease of life!
    • 73' GOAL!! Ricardo Fuller falls over and converts the subsequent penalty, despite Myhill getting a decent touch on it. It was never a penalty, Fuller took a horrendous dive and there was minimal contact, but Stoke won't care - they are level.
    • 71' The ball boys here at Stoke have two jobs to do - and one is much more importnat than the other - passing Delap his towel and retrieving the ball. Boaz Myhill is booked for unsporting behaviour.
    • 68' Peter Halmosi comes on to replace the ineffective Nick Barmby. Dean Windass will be gutted with that, given that he has probably run a couple of miles on the touchline so far.
    • 68' Such is the power of Delap's throw that Myhill catches it above his head inside his six-yard box! Delap will have to tone it down a bit if he is to find any of his players with his next one.
    • 66' Paul McShane staggers to his feet after falling to the ground in thunderous fashion following a headed collision with Mamady Sidibe. He appears to be okay, moving gingerly.
    • 63' A glorious chance for Stoke goes begging as substitute Michael Tonge curls a delightful cross with his first touch, but the sliding Rory Delap fails to make contact at the back post.
    • 61' Stoke make a substitution with Tom Soares making way for Michael Tonge in midfield.
    • 59' Hull find themselves defending a precarious free-kick with Tom Soares floating it in from the edge of the area, but Sidibe couldn't make meaningful contact with his header.
    • 57' The sleet and fog appears to be getting worse by the minute, with visibility increasingly difficult. Hull have begun to come back into it in terms of possession, but with five across the midfield, Phil Brown is unlikely to change anything.
    • 55' Dean Windass is back warming up - look out, he could be about to receive his second booking and an early, unearned bath.
    • 53' Soares, who is surprisingly industrious in terms of tracking back to defend, upends Paul McShane but no booking is awarded.
    • 51' A dangerous free-kick is to be taken by Tom Soares. It drifts narrowly over the heads of Leon Cort and Danny Higginbotham and away for a goal kick.
    • 49' The game goes into a period of hit-and-hope, only punctuated by another three Delap throw-ins. The amount of time which is wasted by Delap wiping the ball with the towel and preparing for each throw is painful.
    • 46' The throw-in finds Ricardo Fuller who rises to head powerfully on target, but Boaz Myhill makes a stunning save, down low to his right.
    • 46' The second half has begun and immediately Stoke are on the front foot, with Delap preparing a throw-in.
    • 45+2' That's half-time and Stoke's players look absolutely bewildered by what has hit them after looking the more dangerous, but in truth they simply switched off at the critical moment.
    • 45' GOAL!! Marlon King scores on the brink of half-time with a delightful swivel and shot from inside the penalty area. That was out of nowhere!
    • 45' Keith Stroud brandishes two yellow cards, but only one of the players is actually playing; firstly Dean Windass, while warming up is booked for disrupting Delap's throw-in, then Andy Griffin for a cynical challenge.
    • 45' There are to be two added minutes at the end of this first-half and Delap is in prime territory to cause havoc now.
    • 43' The first half is petering out a bit now, with both sides seemingly content to go in at the break with a clean sheet behind them.
    • 40' The black-eyed Thomas Sorensen shows Stoke are adept at defending long-balls as well as delivering them; coming through a crowd of bodies to collect Dean Marney's cross cleanly.
    • 37' Yet again a delivery into the box almost results in a headed opener. Delap's throw finds Sidibe who drifted off his marker, Turner, but heads it straight into the arms of Myhill.
    • 35' Stoke flood the box with players as Delap prepares another cannonball, but instead he cunningly throws it short to Griffin who delivers a poor cross.
    • 32' Another cross from the Stoke right, this time by Tom Soares, almost finds the head of Fuller, but Zayatte does well to clear to deny the striker a simple chance.
    • 29' A decent chance for Stoke as Sidibe forces his way to the byline and squares the ball to Fuller, but Turner's challenge does enough to make his shot awkward and he scuffs it wide.
    • 28' Marlon King is rising to his personal challenge valliantly thus far, he is the epitome of the all-action centre-forward, both in the air and on the floor.
    • 26' Delap scampers over to the other side of the pitch to take a throw-in which Myhill collects comfortably. Despite the plaudits, it must add some serious mileage to his afternoon.
    • 23' Geovanni does superbly to skip past Amdy Faye, with the Stoke midfielder conceding a free-kick in a dangerous position.
    • 21' Danny Higginbotham clearly fancies himself as a carbon-copy Roberto Carlos and sends an extravagant 35-yard free-kick soaring over the bar.
    • 19' Boaz Myhill takes the 'safety first' principle to a comedic extent, not fancying clearing a Rickett's pass-back with the onrushing Fuller in sight, and instead turning around and kicking it out for a corner.
    • 17' Sam Ricketts could be the man Phil Brown was referring to but he is not fully unwinding his throw as yet.
    • 15' Lone striker Marlon King seems to be employing a shoot-on-sight principle and he drives one from a hopeless angle 20-yards out. Needless to say it was less than testing for Boaz Myhill.
    • 13' Sidibe powers his way into the Hull box and the ball squirms out to Diao, loitering on the edge of the area, but the midfielder fires his shot erratically wide.
    • 11' Geovanni produces a fine run of his own down the left wing, beating Andy Griffin, but his cross evades Marlon King, alone in the Stoke box.
    • 9' Phil Brown mentioned in the week that he possesses a man in the Hull ranks who can throw the ball further than Delap. I'm a fan of the mind-games but I am keen to see if it was pure fabrication.
    • 8' Here we go, eight minutes in and Rory Delap is wiping the wet ball on his shirt and unleashes a mammoth throw, but it is cleared by Kamil Zayatte.
    • 6' A horrible high challenge by Michael Turner on Mamady Sidibe gives Stoke a promising free-kick. I'm frankly staggered that referee Phil Stroud has not seen fit to book the defender for that though.
    • 5' A barnstorming run from Rory Delap down the left wing almost produces a chance for the hosts but Paul McShane recovers to block his cross.
    • 3' The sheer presence of Salif Diao and Amdy Faye in the centre of midfield is striking for Stoke and Phil Brown has packed his midfield to compensate for that.
    • 1' We're underway at the Britannia Stadium in a foggy Stoke. Despite their super starts, both sides will see this match as crucial if they are to establish their Premier League places.
    • - Stoke manager Tony Pulis has thrown top-scorer Ricardo Fuller straight back into the starting line-up following suspension, while Leon Cort replaces Ryan Shawcross at centre-back. Hull boss Phil Brown gives Nick Barmby a left midfield berth, with Daniel Cousin dropping to the bench to leave Marlon King as the lone striker.
    • - Welcome to this Premier League encounter between two sides who have confounded their doubters this season since gaining promotion. Hull v Stoke would have been seen as a relegation six-pointer at the start of the campaign, but both teams have made good starts; currently lying sixth and fourteenth in the table, respectively.
