    • 90' Aurelio fires forward a long ball forward and Torres flicks it on for GERRARD WHO HITS THE POST!! The Liverpool skipper's outstretched boot almost sealed a late victory, but the ball rebounds off the far post and out of play! What a let off for Stoke!
    • 89' Gerrard will take a corner for Liverpool, but it misses everyone and swings out for a goal kick.
    • 88' Dave Kitson is the man sacrificed as Stoke look to shut up shop. danny Pugh - who was not even in the original matchday squad - comes on to replace him.
    • 86' The ball is pinging around the midfield as both sides are frantically trying to move forward. Stoke are yet to drop everyone behind the ball.

    • 70' Ryan shawcross is down receiving treatment after tackling Torres. He'll go off as his team-mates defend a throw-in. Fortunately for his side Liverpool conspire to give away a goal kick.

This time Liverpool manage to get rid of the danger at the first time of asking.

    • 49' Another Liverpool corner, this time conceded by higginbotham. Gerrard crosses and Sorensen is off his line... He gets a hand to it but it falls in the middle of the box... The keeper is first to it and grabs the ball.
    • 48' The corner is taken quickly but Benayoun is charged down by a wave of red and white and Stoke clear.
    • 47' Amdy faye hauls down Gerrard and Liverpool have a free-kick. It's too far to shoot but Gerrard's delivery forces a header from Shwacross and earns Liverpool a corner.

    • 24' Kitson plays a ball upfield to Cresswell, who tries to beat Hyypia on the turn but halfway through opts to hit the deck instead. Referee Lee Mason waves play on - good defending from Hyypia.
    • 22' Liverpool's possession finally bears some sort of fruit, as Kuyt gets a shot off at the far post, but Sorensen smothers the shot well to concede the corner. Thomas Sorensen has not won a single league match against Liverpool in 15 attempts during his career.
    • 16' A high Stoke clearance has both Gerrard and Aurelio underneath it. They both leave it for the other one to volley and in the end the ball bounces away to safety.
