    • FT AND THERE IS THE FINAL WHISTLE - Villa hang on for a deserved win - Villa up to fourth but Spurs remain bottom.
    • 90+3 Great tackle from Gardner in the box as Bentley looked to line up a shot.
    • 90+3 Ashley Young booked for time wasting.
    • 90+2 Bentley gets a header on target but it straight at Friedel.
    • 90+1 Harewood misses with the goal gaping on a counter attack as Jenas throws himself at Harewood's shot to block it. What a miss though.
    • 90' Into stoppage time and Villa still look pretty secure.
    • 88' Gardner on for Shorey.
    • 87' Hold the phone it might not be over yet. Darren Bent sticks out a knee and guides a Jermain Jenas shot into the net. A lucky goal but maybe that is all Spurs need.
    • 85' Agbonlahor off Harewood on.
    • 84' Bent balloons another shot over the bar as fans start to leave the stadium.
    • 82' Agbonlahor booked for refusing to go off for treatment after initially going down "injured."
    • 82' Great defending from Davies to get in at the near post and stop Pavlyuchenko from getting a shot away.
    • 81' Just over form Young as he stretches to get on the end of an Agbonlahor cross.
    • 80' Laursen deflects a decent Giovani effort wide and Spurs again can do nothing with the corner.
    • 78' Spurs enjoying lots of possesion now but Friedel's gloves are hardly smoking.
    • 75' Lennon with another good run (he has been clearly Spurs best player) he tries to get away a shot but Shorey dives in to block the effort.
    • 74' Reo-Coker leads another Villa counter attack but he tries to shoot when he had a great chance to slip in Agbonlahor - poor decision.
    • 73' And then Bentley tries to curl one into the top corner but that goes over the bar.
    • 73' Bent tries a spectacular bicycle kick from a Lennon cross but he can't get any power on it.
    • 72' Great cross from the left curled in with the right boot by Gareth Barry but there is nobody there to get on the end of it.
    • 69' Bent really should score but heads wide with a free header after a great cross by Bale.
    • 67' A lull in proceedings but that will suit Villa with Spurs on course for their worst start to a season in 34 years.
    • 63' Carew is forced off and James Milner comes on. Meanwhile Spurs have brought on Giovani dos Santos for Dawson.
    • 62' Forget Ashley Young (who is fine) because John Carew has now falling in the box with nobody near him and it looks like he has pulled a hamstring.
    • 60' Dawson cynically takes out Ashley Young and he gets a deserved yellow card. Young seems to have hurt his arm but should be ok.
    • 59' The Villa fans are the ones making all the noise now as the Spurs fans try and comprehend what is happening here.
    • 56' Another half-hearted appeal for a penalty as the ball bounces up in the box and hits Reo-Coker on the arm but you never get those.
    • 54' GOAL VILLA - an absolute clanger from Gomes. Ashley Young cuts in from the left again and is given far too much to shoot by Dawson. Young fires a decent enough effort but Gomes looks to be behind it only to let it slip under his body. Come back Paul Robinson all is forgiven.
    • 53' Agbonlahor springs clear on the counter to end a Tottenham spell of pressure but Bale comes across to block his shot. Great defending.
    • 51' Carew is booked for a foul on Bentley.
    • 50' Lennon with a half volley on the edge of the area gets a shot on target but Friedel pushes it over.
    • 49' Jenas with a bang to the head needs some treatment but he is back on now with a new shirt.
    • 47' Another good run into the box from Lennon but then his cross is just a little too high for Bent.
    • 47' Nice one-two between Agbonlahor and Carew but then Agbonlahor's shot is blocked by Dawson.
    • 46' Back underway and Bentley is on for Zakora at half-time hardly a surprise.
    • HT Reo-Coker with a tame shot on target is the final act of the half. Villa go in at the break leading 1-0 and they are full value for that advantage too.
    • 45' Friedel can't grab a corner but he was being fouled by Woodgate.
    • 43' Spurs closing the half with a spell of pressure but Villa look very solid at the back. Huddlestone has just mis-hit wide the latest Tottenham effort.
    • 40' Dawson with a shocking pass to...well who knows who? It sums up Spurs performance so far.
    • 38' Better work from Spurs again and Huddlestone has room to fire a shot from 30 yards out. A decent hit but the right height for Friedel to be able to bat it away.
    • 36' Spurs with their best passing move of the match but Davies comes in with a great challenge to deny Bale.
    • 33' Tottenham fans want a penalty as Luke Young prevents Pavlyuchenko getting on the end of Bent's flick on. They cried "handball" but it was just very good defending.
    • 30' Luka Modric has picked up a knock and is replaced by Jermaine Jenas. The Croat was a passenger in the opening half hour anyway and the poor start to his Tottenham career continues.
    • 29' Lennon tries to get things going down the right. A good run but he can't match it with a good cross.
    • 27' Ashley Young cuts in from the left and curls another low shot just wide. ALL VILLA so far. Spurs have been very poor despite starting brightly. Their midfield has been missing.
    • 23' Gomes flaps at a cross and Shorey guides it onto the head of Agbonlahor. Gomes again gets down quickly to make a good save but he wouldn't have had to do that if he had just caught the initial cross.
    • 22' Nice quick turn and shot from Pavlyuchenko in the area and his shot is going to hit the target but it hits Davies head first.
    • 20' First booking of the game for Nicky Shorey as he trips Lennon who had skipped past him.
    • 18' Pavlyuchenko finds out how fast the Premier League is as he takes too much time to line up a shot on the edge of the area and Barry comes in to nick it off him.
    • 17' Bale wastes a free-kick in a good area by producing neither a cross nor a shot that goes safely into the hands of Friedel.
    • 14' Friedel wants a free as Dawson challenges him in the air after a Bale free kick looped up. No free given and the Villa keeper needs some help from Laursen to clear the danger.
    • 13' Again Agbonlahor is found in loads of space down the left but this time he can't find Carew. Haven't Spurs being watching Villa these last 18 months though? You have to stay tight to Young and Agbonlahor.
    • 11' Villa looking dangerous down the wings and Spurs are finding it hard to string some passes together.
    • 9' Off the post from Reo Coker!! He mis-hits a cross from the right but it takes Gomes by surprise and hits the near post. The keeper probably had it covered to be fair.
    • 6' Tottenham have a half chance to draw level straight away as Modric has a change to fire a shot from the edge of the area but it is tame effort straight at Friedel
    • 5' GOAL VILLA - Villa have the lead with their first attack of the game. Agbonlahor set it up down the left and put a low cross into the box. Carew with a little flick on and Reo-Coker is there at the back post to side foot home. Terrible defending but Villa will take it.
    • 2' Very noisy in the Lane helped by a positive start. Lennon has already had a little run and Spurs look up for this.
    • 1' Pavlyuchenko makes his mark after just nine seconds...a foul...but then on 40 seconds his ball to Daivd Bent is cleared out for a corner.
    • 1' And off we go...
    • - And the players come out to a full house - remember this match was 4-4 last season so let us hope for more of the same tonight.
    • - Villa are unchanged from the side that drew with Liverpool two weeks ago so James Milner again has to settle for a place on the bench as does Carlos Cuellar.
    • - Some interesting team news too with Vedran Corluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko both handed debuts for Spurs. Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley have been relegated to the bench where Frazier Campbell also resides.
    • - Welcome to White Hart Lane for what should be an entertaining Premier League fixture between Tottenham and Aston Villa.
