    • 83' GOAL!! Sunderland take the lead again, and it's DJIBRIL CISSE with the goal! The former Liverpool man was all alone to head in Daryl Murphy's excellent cross! They did on opening day last August, now can the Black Cats ruin Totenham's season before it's even begun two years running?
    • 77' Bentley has a free kick on the left of the Sunderland area. He curls in the SHOT.. Saved well by Gordon. He's had an excellent game today.

    • 52' Reid swings in a free kick from deep and COLLINS IS COMPLETELY UNMARKED... Headed over too! Both sides have had gilt-edged chances to score from set pieces since tohe break now.
    • 49' Bentley swings in yet another corner and BALE RISES UNCHALLENGED... Headed over the bar! The Welshman really should have tested Gordon at least.
    • 48' Modirc is hauled down by whitehead yet again. The Croatian has looked a class act on his home debut, though he has yet to make a real offensive impact on the game.
    • 47' Sunderland immediately win a corner but that effort is poor and Ledley King can clear at the near post unchallenged.
    • 46' The match is back underway now, with no changes for either side during the break. So expect more of the same.
    • 45+1' Half-time at White Hart Lane, and the first look at the post-Berbatov era is not the most encouraging. In fact, the best moment of the half came from an ex-Spurs player, when Steed Malbranque hit the Spurs post.
    • 45' Anotehr corner for Spurs, cleared at the near post. Same again. Headed away and Bardsley wins a free kick for fouling himself, it would seem. Blow up please referee.
    • 44' The free kick comes in and Diouf controls, turns and balsts wide! THe controlled it with his hand though, so it wouldn't have counted. It's worth noting that during that last Tottenham attack, Bale had a shot charged down, and he limped somewhat back into position.
    • 42' Bale digs out an excellent cross and Collins does excellently to steer a diving header out for a corner. Sunderland can't clear but Modric tries toom uch and is dispossessed. The break for Sunderland is stopped when Jenas slides in kung fu-style on Diouf!
    • 39' Everyone just stands and watches Steed Malbranque so the Frenchman HAS A CRACK... OFF THE POST! The low shot canons off the frame of the goal. Gomes was well beaten there! Spurs can't clear and DIOUF... fired wide! Sunderland reminding the Spurs fans that there is more than one team playing at the Lane today!
    • 33' Spurs are beginning to spray the ball about with confidence now, and after a nice move that involves Modric, Bentley and Lennon, Bale is tackled but it ends in a goal kick. The home side are looking stylish going forward, but there is no barrier at all in front of the defence whenever Sunderland come forward.
    • 30' Zokora carries the ball forward a good 30 yards and shapes up to SHOOT... Even by his standards, that was poor. He earned his chance, but he must learn not to listen to the crowd when they cry "Shoooooot!".
    • 28' Nice quick play by Spurs, and they win a free kick in a good position after Modric is obstructed. Bentley fires right into the wall, and Bale's follow up cross is cleared. A wasted opportunity there.
    • 26' Bale goes down under the challenge of Higginbotham... NO PENALTY! Bale is booked by Mike Dean for the dive! Excellent call by the referee, and Bale looks more than a tad embarrassed.

From the short corner, Reid sends in another good ball, and Nosworthy clatters right into Gomes as the keeper comes to catch it. The Brazilian gets a quick dab of the magic sponge and will play on.
    • 20' Lennon comes forward again and this chips over a good cross for Bent... Headed behind by Bardsley! Well covered there. Nosworthy heads the corner behind for another from the other side. This time ZOKORA IS FREE AT THE FAR POST... Headed wide! There was some shoving going on in the box, but the referee chooses to ignore it and give the goal kick.
    • 17' Bentley swings his corner in to the near post for BENT... He just arrives too late for the header! He easily lost his marker there.
    • 16' Spurs break forward through Lennon. He plays a one-two with Zokora and pulls a ball back from the byline for BENT... Corner to Spurs!
    • 15' Diouf cuts onto his left foot and SHOOTS... His shot from outside the box pings off Woodgate's head and out for a corner! Spurs clear it easily.
    • 12' Former Spurs man Steed Malbranque dives in and trips Luka Modric. He's lucky to escape without a booking there. The Frenchman then plays forward a nice ball for Murphy to chase... Good interception by Woodgate!

    • 5' Didier Zokora has the time to shoot from distance... Predictably, the shot is well high and wide! Only Manchester United midfielder Anderson can rival the Ivorian when it comes to consistently ballooning long shots.
    • 3' New season, same old Aaron Lennon. The little winger does brilliantly to skin Danny Collins, but then his touch lets him down and the ball rolls out for a goal kick. Not good when you have former Barcelona wunerkind giovani breathing down your neck.
