    • 90' The final whistle is blown. This was a game of three thirds: first, Benni McCarthy ran the show; then he was sent off and Blackburn collapsed under persistent pressure from their hosts; finally, Rovers threw caution to the wind and rescued a point. All told, a thoroughly entertaining game of football.
    • 89' The Baggies spurn a couple of chances to snatch all three points. First, Bednar's header at least forces a good save from Robinson. Then Baggies' attackers contrive to get in each other's way, and Robinson is able to lay both hands on the ball.
    • 87' GOAL! Keith Andrews thinks he's rescued a point for Blackburn. The midfielder's not been afraid of shooting from long-range throughout the game. This particular well-struck right-footed effort finds the bottom corner of the net. Credit to Roberts, whose huge effort contributed in no small part to the equalizer.
    • 85' Despite his failure to put the ball in the back of the net, Roman Bednar is enraged by a late offside flag. His reaction reflects growing concern in the Baggies ranks that Rovers might just have an equalizer in them. The impressively muscular Roberts blazes a shot wide from outside the area.
    • 82' Both sides have upped their work-rates to at least 120%. In general, a third goal for the Baggies looks more likely than a Blackburn equalizer. But Samba's header from Tugay's free kicked caused momentary panic in the hosts' area, encouraging Scott Carson to come off his line and miss the ball by a very long way.
    • 77' Valero goes into the book for a regulation foul.
    • 76' Carson fails to hold a Keith Andrews effort from outside the area, but no lasting harm is done.
    • 73' A bout of substitutions serve to open the game up - half-chances are not taken at either end. Ince has thrown Gamst Pedersen on for Olsson; Gary Megson has replaced James Morrison with Chris Brunt.
    • 68' Gianni Zuiverloon is booked for a foul on Jason Roberts, who has been sparked into life by the Baggies' second goal. 30 yards out, Gamst Pedersen goes very close with the free kick.
    • 66' The sheer physical presence of Jason Roberts in the West Brom area provokes a goal-line scramble, that almost results in an undeserved equalizer for Paul Ince's men.
    • 62' GOAL! There it is. Ishmael Miller' second goal ever for West Brom is a minor classic. Picking the ball up right of centre, 30 yards out, the attacker beats his man and lashes the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of Paul Robinson's net.
    • 58' The Baggies continue to exert pressure on the Blackburn defence, and must now be regarded as firm favourites to win this game. Even with 11 men on the field, Blackburn have only managed five away goals all season.
    • 55' GOAL! The equalizer arrives, courtesy of Roman Bednar, who, given a clear sight of goal, beats Paul Robinson low to the keeper's left.
    • 53' West Brom are moving closer towards an equalizer. Ishmael Miller drills a shot into the post. Ryan Nelsen drills his attempt to clear the rebound against the crossbar.
    • 50' Just as they were towards the end of the first half, West Brom and territorially dominant and enjoying a majority of possession. They are let down by a couple of woeful final balls.
    • 48' West Brom are mildly aggrieved not to have been given a penalty after Brett Emerton becomes entangled with an attacker.
    • 46' The match is resumed. The first significant action is a corner kick to the hosts. Paul Robinson's clean sheet remains unsoiled.
    • 45' The half-time whistle goes. Although they are a goal to the bad, West Brom will be buoyed by their domination of the game since the goal and by the sending-off of Benni McCarthy. A furious Paul Ince briefly makes his presence known on the pitch, before being gently ushered away by his minions.
    • 45' West Brom are almost suckered on the stroke of half-time. A fierce shot by Emerton, after good work by the same, is tipped behind by Scott Carson. Nothing comes of the subsequent corner.
    • 44' Repeated attempts by West Brom to chip the ball into the Blackburn box yield a corner, which is dealt with comfortably by the Rovers defence.
    • 42' Free kick on the edge of the area for WBA. The ball is thumped into Blackburn's wall, and bounces harmlessly away.
    • 40' After another crunching foul, Ryan Donk becomes the first West Brom player to go into the book.
    • 37' Paul Ince looks disbelieving on the sidelines. It's down to Jason Roberts to carry the attack to West Brom. With a strong, direct run on goal he almost creates a chance for himself.
    • 36' Assured or not, McCarthy will play no further part in this game. He's earnt a second yellow card for handball.
    • 32' Donk earns a talking-to, but no yellow card, from the ref for a wild challenge. The resultant free kick produce little of note.
    • 30' Benni McCarthy has exaggerated his mohican since the Bolton game two weeks ago. Happily for the South African, the quality of his haircut seems to be inversely proportional to his level of performance. Or perhaps it's the early penalty conversion that has lent him an air of assurance that was missing at the Reebok.
    • 25' More pressure from West Brom leads to a sight of goal for Robert Koren, whose tame shot from the edge of the area goes wide.
    • 23' West Brom have a monopoly on ambition in the game at the moment. Blackburn's midfield and defence are sitting on top of each other, deep in their own half.
    • 21' A third attacking free kick for the home side. Mindful of previous efforts, the delivery is badly overhit and straight out of play.
    • 20' A tackle from behind earns Benni McCarthy the first yellow card of the match.
    • 16' Now the Baggies earn a free kick on the right-hand side. A similar delivery is easily repelled, but the home side appear to have taken up residence in the opposition half.
    • 15' At the other end, a free kick for West Brom is whipped into the area, but Rovers' defence stands firm.
    • 12' Penalty to Blackburn. Ryan Donk can have few complaints, after a sustained bout of shirt-pulling. McCarthy takes it well, slamming the ball into the bottom right-hand corner. 1-0 to the visitors
    • 10' Blackburn's first chance falls to Keith Andrews, who fires comfortably wide from outside the area.
    • 9' Santa Cruz-less Blackburn's limitations were revealed in their dire goalless draw with Bolton a couple of weeks ago. Again, they are not looking particularly threatening here, despite starting both Roberts and McCarthy. Without Villanueva, perhaps it's Emerton, who has been in good form recently, who holds the key to unlocking the home defence.
    • 6' As the tempo increases, the play becomes more ragged. The first half-chance of the game falls to Roman Bednar, who, arriving late at Blackburn's back stick, narrowly fails to get on the end of a cross from the right wing.
    • 3' A less than energetic start to the game with both sides happy to knock the ball around in their own halves. Possession has been divided equally between them.
    • - Welcome to this Premier League clash between West Brom and Blackburn. Both sides lost in midweek so will be desperate for a win.
